Guess I'm in the club of "I beat the [REDACTED] fight before it was cool it got nerfed" then I missed out on that in his base game version, so that's kinda nice Also quite a few buffs to things that I'm not sure necessarily needed them, but nice things all around... And I'm certainly not about to complain about Rellana's Twin Blades getting a boost, probably at least top 5 favourite DLC weapons for me!

Not to chain-post so much, but I just saw a clip of the revamped fight and they removed his clone attacks?!? That was actually cool though, and not nearly as much of a problem as the visual clutter (which has been reduced well, actually), why? Edit: either that or it's a new bug that gets fixed on a refight (don't ask me how or why it happened), I've seen some conflicting reports

Seeing how upset some people are by the invariably good changes to the fight makes it partly clear how FROM managed to ship a boss that was ultimately clearly just trying to be difficult more than it was fun.
There's a subset of the game's fans that seem to have just convinced themselves that anything difficult is automatically good and above criticism and anything easier is bad.
Probably because they're desperate for other people to be impressed at their skills, despite the fact that everyone else managed to beat it too and doesn't give a shit.

Yeah definitely, there's a lot of players who need to compensate for something and Fromsoft games attract those kind of people due to their nature and reputation. Don't you dare make any of their achievements more achievable for lesser players.

The Git Gud crowd must have been really frustrated when they found out Sekiro didn't have summons or a way to overlevel and wouldn't be able to do their usual lying on reddit that they beat every boss about 40 levels below the level most players would be at by that point.

Nerfed my fucking arsehole. Another 10 attempts this evening. I pretty much breezed past most of the DLC bosses, but this fucker, no go for me.
Wish I'd fucking played something else this evening, that's annoyed me way more than is reasonable.

After only just beating the Elden Beast just before the DLC came out (about a week before they patched Torrent back in - typical!) and being forced to completely respec to beat the fucker I'm glad I held off the DLC based on a lot of the comments above.
Sounds like it might still be worth picking up at some stage to enjoy some more From world building? But I was pretty boss-fatigued by the end and this sounds like it is an extension of that end-game.

I have no complaints with any of the DLC aside from the final boss. Some of the other bosses are tricky but are doable for most builds. I enjoyed all the areas, there is loads to explore, some cool NPCs and questlines, but the end boss CAN GO FUCK THEMSELF REPEATEDLY!!

The DLC isn't actually that hard if you are levelled enough to beat the main game. The most challenging thing other than a couple of twattish bosses is navigating the map.

Thats my biggest bugbear - it’s hard to pin point the problem (verticality? Worse signposting? Everything being darker?) but I struggle to know where to go next a lot more in the DLC than I ever did in the base game. I still enjoy it but it feels more obtuse than the main game imo.

mikeck - I thought you were having a break? lol You kind of need to go in not giving a fuck, to be honest You want to be at least +16 scuds with a +10 mimic Put a Marika blessing in your inventory, but DON’T use it, your mimic can use it for your benefit at zero cost Look at your armour and defenses. The talisman that reduces damage by 20% is great, so’s the one that boosts your guard ability. Use your Physick - stamina regen/ max stamina is sound ,so are the health ones, anything reducing holy damage keeps you in the fight for phase 2. If you’re faith, you need to be casting Golden Vow and cast it again for f your mimic gets grabbed with that bullshit attack, as you can’t damage him during it anyway. Flame, grant me strength is good too but doesn’t last long. But some crab meat and start with one, for another decent damage reduction Go in with a ‘don’t give a fuck ‘ attitude and you’ll get him eventually, but if you’re trying too hard; he’ll fuck you up. Hope this reads ok

I think that's because A) many areas are accessible via only one hidden path (whose entry may not even be near that area) B) there's so much verticality that many areas and pathways are below others but there's no underground map so in many places the map is completely useless C) the paths to some of the map fragments are deliberately obtuse so that for a long time you don't even have a map of an area D) instead of a largely natural progression (and directions from graces) through traversing the world, in the DLC the areas mostly branch out from a central area with virtually no direction where to go in what order

That's all fair. I actually liked having to really think and explore in order to get to certain areas. Sure it got a little frustrating, but it was fun. I can see how for some that looks like bad design, and maybe it is, but in the context of an open world game, it was nice to be a little confused at times.

They intentionally made it a pain in the arse for whatever reason. Not just make it a pain in the arse but deliberately led you to places that looked like you could get there on the map but were actually dead ends that just overlooked it.
And, since I'm complaining, the most annoying thing is that some of the hardest areas to find have got fuck all in them. They should have spent the time on dungeons rather than vast, empty spaces.

I'm certain that's on purpose, but sometimes I think it's just frustrating when it has nothing to do with you not being smart or observant enough. Sometimes you try for ages to find the way to a neighbouring region but it turns out the only way to access it is through some random ass cave that's far away in the other direction. In those cases, finding them is a matter of either pure chance or looking it up online again, and I find that very unsatisfying.
It reminds me of how I tried for hours to find a way to the base game's southwest plateau only to learn online that you'll only get there through some far away questline, only in the DLC this becomes pretty much normal. In either case I find it disappointing and frustrating that in a game that's praised for making you pay attention to the map, in some places you are basically being punished for trying that.

I think the DLC's map is just a bit unhelpful when it comes to seeing how stuff connects in the same way the Volcano manor mountain was as a pain in the arse to navigate.
As for the overall difficulty, most of the DLC areas are significantly easier than the late game areas the main game, it's just punctuated by a few twattishly designed bosses that are way out of whack with the difficulty of the rest of it.
Even the last major area is a complete pushover compared to Haligtree, Azula etc.
