The long awaited fan translation of the PSP version of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment was released a few days ago, which means you're finally able to play both Persona 2: Innocent Sin and it's sequel in English on the same system You can download it from Github and patch your own .ISO, or there are pre-patched .ISO files in the usual places coughCDromance coughnoisypixel.net/persona-2-eternal-punishment-psp-fan-translation/Started Innocent Sin last night and it's really good so far, not played them before as I didn't want to play half the game

I did start the PS1 version bit not played too far yet. Edit - As an aside, SMT1 PS1 version also got translated with a new translation (and will hopefully lead to SMT2/If PS1 too). Not sure whether GBA or PS1 is best way to play SMT1 though...

I'm playing on my CFW PSP 3000, the patched Eternal Punishment has an option added to specify the region of your Innocent Sin save (either NA or EU) so if you can get the save off your Vita you'll definitely be able to import it I've not played SMT1 but I did think about getting a flash cart for my GBA... 🤔

Anyone else playing Soul Hackers 2? It's one of my fav SMT games for sure, I fucking love nearly everything about it.
I never thought anything would top the Press Turn battle system, but Sabbath attacks are really good, so satisfying to pull off and annihilate everything with your demon army.

I had a little play, but have to decide whether to power through in Japanese (as I suspected my LE JP game was Japan only) or buy a supplementary English copy (for PS5/Steam Deck if it works).
Seemed fun from that dabble though.

I'm playing with the Japanese voices and they're great. I really like the story and characters, especially Ringo and Figue, so unless you speak Japanese I'd definitely pick up an English copy

I always use Japanese voices where possible. My copy is Japanese subs too . I speak Japanese but my kanji is rusty as hell so harder work than it should be (see also my play through of Kyouei Toshi)

I haven't made a ton of progress, but it's great, yeah. Battle system and characters are great.

Well damn... I might just have to park SH2 for a while. November update adding some QoL stuff that bizarrely wasn't included in the base game. I lost count of the number of times I tried clicking the thumbstick to dash when starting off. personacentral.com/soul-hackers-2-november-2022-update/

My wait to play may be worthwhile too then, still debating grabbing an English copy for ease of use over my Japanese one... Reading Japanese is tiring now and my skills get rustier by the day...
Plus I still need to finish the first SH and SMT V (amongst many others)
Edit - also considering finally playing P3FES with the undub on Steam Deck...

I'vev started Persona 5 and I'm not sure I get it. Does it ever open up, or is it constant loop of go to school, pick an activity to build stats and go to sleep? With occasional trips to a dungeon for some actual jrpg stuff?
I'm only on the first palace, and was enjoying it until this loop/countdown started.

What do you mean by "open up"?
It does, in the sense that you will eventually have options about what you want to do in your downtime. But it's not an open-world game.

Fair enough. I meant as in being able to walk around and do your own thing, without time constraints.
Tbh I'd just heard it praised loads on here/the old place as a great jrpg so grabbed it in a sale knowing nothing about it.

Yeah, you'll get to choose what to do with your free time after a while (much more so in P5R than the base game IIRC), but you've pretty much described the loop of the game there so if you're not feeling it it's not going to transform into something wildly different.

Deciding how to spend your time is a core part of the games throughout. Normally hate that kind of thing but it's thematically relevant and I don't think the games would work as well without it

Only Persona adjacent but there’s no better thread. Is that Blue Reflection Second Light game any good? I’ve heard it favorably compared to P4. I’m all for a nice dungeon crawler social life RPG but the screenshots of this make it look…well, like a pervert/weeb fetish game filled with schoolgirl yuri. And I don’t have enough Mountain Dew in stock to deal with that.

Tempted to reply P5R soon with all the hype around the new platform releases. Might just play it again on PS5 but if it plays ok on Steam Deck I could be convinced to double dip.

Plays perfectly on Deck, from all reports. 40fps on high, a few visual tweaks has it 60fps.

Required specs don't look too bad, or if you're a gamepass member you could always stream it to the deck. I'm still weighing up paying for the Switch version vs free SX version myself.
Or maybe just playing it on PC hidden away in my office instead so that my neighbours don't inevitably walk past when I'm fighting Mara...

Got the Switch version pre-ordered, played the PS4 version on my PS5 earlier this year and it looked and ran great so I'm not even sure what the point of the native PS5 version is, considering you can pick up the PS4 disc relatively cheaply these days, and it's a great looking game regardless. I haven't looked into it but I assume it's native 4k on PS5

I think I probably will just rebuy the Steam version. Always interested to see what mods come out that I might be able to mess with.

I'm just going to play it on the Switch OLED. I'm sure the steam deck version will play a bit better, but I don't have one of those. And I think it's going to absolutely pop no matter what system it's on, so I might as well get it on the system I can take on a train.

Another 100+ hours coming up, I can't resist. P4 platinum on ps4, P5G platinum on PS4pro, now i can see myself 1000g or whatever it is called on series x.
Such amazing games. Also eyeing another (3rd) run of P4g on the switch.
