Honestly I'd cast those same people. It's a pretty solid lineup.
Robert De Niro as Diddy Kong seems like a missed opportunity though.

To be fair I showed my kids the cast this morning and they were very excited that StarLord and Jack Black were going to be in it. Worrying about casting on a movie aimed at kids is probably not for us. We're too old for this shit.

I don't care what you say, Jack Black as Bowser is legitimately great casting. I think he could just do something so cool in that role. I was totally on board for Jim Carrey as Robotnik too, so make of that what you will.
The rest of the cast is a bit bonkers mind, but it does feel like normal Hollywood animation fare. I think the film's made by Illumination, isn't it? Who do have a tendency to cast actors who feel unsuitable at first glance. Whilst they're definitely capable of making some really good films (I have a lot of love for Despicable Me) their output is mostly average and inoffensive, which is what I imagine this will be.
