This is rather nice, bit of doom with some bluesy inflections, that just builds in rage towards the end.

New Kvelertak album is phenomenal and up there with their very best. Blackened prog-party-punk? Yes please.

Couple of other new metal albums out today but I've just been listening to the new Blood Command EP. Quite the group and mix of genres too so much so I was wondering whether to put this into the Punk thread instead.

This is cool, totally unashamed Black Sabbath worship. But it does it really well, and, at least to me, does enough to stand out in the multitudes of doom bands. Fun fact - the bassist is Sara Bianchin, the vocalist from Messa.

New Tomb Mold out today... big change in sound toward prog, I am loving it so far as still retains their groove although so far doesn't have the lovely chuggy sections of their last couple of albums. Not a problem for me as old school death with a healthy bit of weirdness is very much my thing these days...
Edit: has chuggy bits, am satisfied.

Literally just saw that, and was coming here to post.
Pretty out the blue, they had been playing gigs very recently and had shows booked.
Kinda gutted, but glad I got to see them earlier this year.

I wonder what happened. I swear some friends of mine only saw them play last week.

Yeah, they're were playing last week, they did a short tour with Ragana, including a night where they acted as support for Divide & Dissolve.

Liking the new Myrkur tracks. Maybe not exactly metal anymore, this track mostly has a dark synthwave vibe, but this at least has a guitar solo and some distant screamed vocals.
Very much dig it though

Holy shit, there is just so much good new metal out right now.
Gridlink - apparently this is grindcore, but it's super melodic and I've never heard anything that sounds like it, which I bloody love.
Alkaloid's new album is great too...
And then I find Blood incantation released an excellent new EP on the same day as Tomb Mold... have I died and gone to heaven?
Surprised to find I'm Liking that new Blood Command a LOT more than most of their last album (the single a Villain's Monologue was great, the rest not so much, a bit too pop-punk for my liking).
Fucking hell, even the new Tesseract sounds great. Did someone spike me with MDMA this evening or something??

Alkaloids album is yeh.. I dunno. Its clearly made by guys that are experts but I just don't find the...hook? It's an interesting musical soundscape but I guess it just lacks a little something for me to really like it and that's after listening to it twice.

Alkaloid's newest is leaving me a little cold as well, yeah. I liked their previous one a lot more.
Baroness' latest is surprisingly good. Especially without the unlistenable mix of their last 2 efforts.

Baroness' latest is surprisingly good. Especially without the unlistenable mix of their last 2 efforts. They've never released a bad album but I wish they'd release a decent sounding version of those last two, the actual music was great.

Some more fun listens I've came across:
Incredibly dumb, boneheaded, punky blackened metal
Haunting, melancholic, melodic doom
Thrash, but tinged with all kinds of other stuff

Didn't quite remember how much (very cheesy) fun Ziltoid The Omiscient was.

Wise Blood Records (who have pulled together an outstanding line up since being formed only a few years ago) have put out their second "Faster Than The Devil" four-way split. Ripping blackened-thrash, but I particularly like Blasted Heath's "There Are Four Lights" because of the Trek reference.

New Priest. I like it. On my first listen it's the most immediately enjoyable thing I've heard them do for quite a while. I mean, it's not original and wont be an all time classic, but it's just nicely done

The Mezingers new album is banger for middle aged me and nostalgia.
