Another run through The Atlas Moth's second album. Still very little to complain about and still a joy to listen to.

Indukti: They had Nils Frykdahl on as a guest musician for this song.

If you've got the appetite for some great prog metal, TEMIC's debut "Terror Management Theory" could be just what the chef ordered:

New Midnight. Fucking love these guys.
Tempted to go to the London show with high command (even if I only saw the latter live a few months ago). Should be fun, the hangover might not be!

Hoping to get tickets for Deafheaven in Leeds as they're playing Sunbather in its entirety - would love to see it.

stixxukSaw Midnight last year, really phenomenal live. Would strongly recommend seeing them if it's an option.

It is, although at New Cross Inn which is something of a pain in the ass for me to get to. Definitely keen to see them though!

Cross-posted with the '...Currently Listening...' thread: the debut single from Kerry King of Slayer fame!

It's pretty cool but I still think King should just not bother with solos. Can't help but think they often come across as the Guitar equivalent of the Moon Knight "random bullshit go!" meme.

Maybe I've been desensitized by hearing too many of Greg Ginn's wanky "free jazz" solos, but I think King's work is pretty solid here. I'm definitely hyped for the album now - shame it's not out 'til May!

To be fair it's not the worst solo from him, but it's literally all I can think now.
Solid rhythm riffs though, don't get me wrong, sounds like it'll be great album

Kerry wasn’t mucking about with that line-up either; Phil Demmel, Paul Bostoph, the singer out of Death Angel. Can’t argue that he hasn’t built himself a real thrash machine.

Just sounds like latter day slayer to me. Technically competent but it just washes right over me.

Looking forward to seeing Kerry King and friends performing robust Slayer "covers" when they inevitably come and play Bloodstock next year
The "KK's Priest" of thrash?

The new Saxon is a solid effort for fans of NWOBHM.

To be honest, that's how I feel about Slayer in general - I like them a lot, and no other thrash band matches up, but their albums are pretty interchangeable for me.
If I'm in the mood to listen to them, I can put on any of their stuff and it'll scratch the itch just fine. King's solo album will be no different.

That's fair, there's just a rawness and intensity that feels genuine in their earlier/classic records, where in their latter ones it's like they were kind of just regurgitating it from a formula. It's hard to say exactly *why* the vibe is off, but it's the same way with latter day Metallica.

I guess I'm similar. I don't mind latter day Slayer, but I struggle I really recall any individual songs post Seasons in the Abyss.
But with that in mind I'll pretty much just revert to Reign in Blood as it has songs I can remember. Later albums are interchangeable.
Oh except Diabolus in Musica. That did stand out, but not in a good way.

The new Saxon is a solid effort for fans of NWOBHM. Satan and Saxon both doing much better modern releases than Maiden for my money. Speaking of Satan, their guitarist is also in this band which is great:

I admire Maiden for continually changing their sound and doing what they enjoy. And I admire Saxon for putting it the same stuff they were 40 years ago and enjoying that too.

I know I’ve already mentioned it before but Michael Hann’s oral history of NWOBHM Denim & Leather is well worth reading if you’re into the music or just like rock histories. Very funny and informative account of what happens when a load of lads in their early 20s get drunk and form bands to try and escape working in factories.

Stumbled across this band as a small local venue is hosting them in April, and thought I'd check them out. Sludge / doom with dirty electronic elements.
Think I might give them a go live, quite like it.

New one by Madder Mortem: After two listens I do like it, but it seems to fall off after the first half.

New power metal from Unleash The Archers. Unfortunately teased there will be a music video generated by AI. I understand that budget is way too short for the kind of grandiose imagery their lyrics portray, but don't think AI is the way to go about it.

Oh and now they say AI was involved in lyric writing too. Apparently it's not a lot and only done because the concept it about a sentient AI so is somewhat tongue in cheek to include lyrics generated by an AI but when you make that known, the question is how much of it is AI really? Bummer

Did they AI the cover as well? There's been a lot of that going around
