Boss Level
Frank Grillo should just stick with moody films. A Mish mash of loads of films not done very well.
5/10

Glad to see this thread make it over. Had a lot of great film nights off the back of recommendations in here.
Cheers fellows

Rambo (2008). A solid 4, though I had been drinking. Some recommendations from here got me to watch it and can’t say it was that impressive. Remember III being rubbish but II and First Blood still have a place in the nostalgia bank.

Fast and Furious. 7.5/10. Despite having professed my love for the series in the Other Place, I hadn't actually seen the first one so decided to make my way through them so I can watch 9. Actually better than I expected. It's all there from the off. Can't wait until the series hits peak ludicrousness though.

Actually better than I expected. It's all there from the off. Can't wait until the series hits peak ludicrousness though. If they literally jumped over a shark in the latest one it would've been a step up from the direction they take it in in F9. "Shit and Ludicrous" should be the new name of the series. Which is still fun action nonsense in fairness... F9 - 5/10

I have long since stopped worrying about how ludicrous things get. So I guess I'm still looking forward to it, a bit anyway

Back to the Future.
I'm giving this a 9 but there are some serious caveats.
Disliked it a bit as a kid, think I thought the '50s were boring.
Loved the sequels.
It must be twenty years since I last watched this.
It's very casually accepting of sexual assault (or worse) isn't it? That's the caveat. Really enjoyed it but there was some serious yikes happening.

This is Spinal Tap - 9/10
Some cunts on another forum were talking about it so I thought I'd give it a go. It got in a GLOL near the start ("you can't really dust for vomit") and had a fair few more along the way. Fantastic stuff!

Star Trek V - The Final Frontier - 6.5/10The bad wannabe Star Wars scenes on Nimbus III aside, I don't think this film is that bad. You are wrong and it is dreadful. I’ve got a couple of indie recommendations though: Prospect - Pedro Pascal does Firefly style sci-fi. He’s obviously amazing just on his own, but this film has some of the best sci-fi worldbuilding I’ve yet seen. Michael Kohlhaas - Mads Mikkelsen being a medieval horse dealer and also the most badass person in the history of everything. And all of that in French.

Shadow in the clouds
its on amazon prime video and the concept is great, WW2 plane and one of them thinks a gremlin is damaging the plane. But the writer and director fuck it up, the music is like 80's synth/retro wave and really does not fit. Most of the crew are 1 dimensional sexist wankers and they are badly written. Also a really dumb bit where she falls out the plane and exploding plane throws back up into the plane through the hole she fall out of. There is other things like the shitty cgi of the gremlin and chloe grace moretz beating it up
4/10

Oh, and Prospect is absolutely sublime, sense of place is visceral. Championed that film on the other site (that shall not named)

"Murder on Maple Drive" - 3/10. Normally love a Reel One/Lifetime TV movie but this involves far more stupid decisions than even my brain allows.

Just watched Anchorman on this train going to Edinburgh
Train is packed so 3 out of 10 for that and 8 out of 10 for Ron Burgundy
