Boss Level Frank Grillo should just stick with moody films. A Mish mash of loads of films not done very well. 5/10 I quite liked it. Not the ending though. That was shite. It was alright but Grillo is generally better when he doesn't say much. I found it overly long as well and yes the ending was dreadful.

The Big Lebowski for the umpteenth time, still a 10/10. Peak Cohen brothers, perfect casting. Just a very fine movie.

What's the "scene" in Bone Tomahawk? I watched it this week and can't think of anything in particular? Ah the scalping and bisecting? Yeah ok.

Gosford Park
Really enjoyed this. It was a rewatch, which is dicey for a whodunnit but I could hardly remember a thing at all. Incredible top notch cast and setting. I quite liked how long and slow it was, reaaally indulgent. The large cast does potentially leave some of them a bit underused / developed tho, but that's a tradeoff.

Wonder Woman 84 gets 16/100
Such an interesting and fairly original premise for a villain ruined by pretty much everything else.

Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop on Netflix
Boy and girl meet As summer passes by
It’s drawn in a very distinctive style, parts of it look like a Lucasarts adventure. It starts off very silly, even more so than the usual Japanese fare. It then settles into a nice rhythm, though. That said, it’s very by-the-numbers and while I enjoyed it, I can only guardedly recommend it if you’re feeling like mild teenage drama.

Didn't mind Boss Level, ending and all. What is it with the sudden influx of Groundhog Day films though?

It's that time in the history of Western civilization, there's a whole new generation all grown up that hasn't seen Groundhog Day so hollywood can take it wholesale and sell it again.

LotR - Fellowship of the Ring.
I tried to watch the 4k extended edition of this after downloading it on iTunes last night, but as I don't have an Apple device of any sort I was limited to 1080p and had no control over frame rates and so on (I'm mirroring from my PC to a 4k monitor and a 1080p TV) which made it a juddery mess and completely ruined the experience. Plus the image on my telly had a weird red cast, which my PC monitor didn't, so that was weird as it doesn't happen with any other apps or games.
Anyway, I gave up after 20 minutes and dug out the theatrical cut on blu ray and it looked way better with no frame rate problems. I'll probably get an Apple TV dongle at some point and try again properly.
This isn't so much a review as a therapy session. The film is amazing.

Werewolves Within
Ubisoft make films now apparently.
I've got a soft spot for anything that could be called comedy horror. This isn't especially lol funny or particularly scary, and the political allegory is as unsubtle as they come. It also at one point seems to set itself up as whoddunit but then just bails on that idea.
If entertaining enough. I enjoyed it at the time, but looking back at it not sure I can find much to get enthused about.

Watched Stuber on Disney last night, give it a solid 6. A good fun action/comedy film that shirt and sweet

The Hobbit Trilogy
One of the best things about LOTR (not so much ROTK admittedly) was the use of real locations and practical effects to make everything feel grounded and real despite the epic fantasy action that was taking place. Even without taking into account the uneven overly padded storytelling these three films feel like they’re making the opposite of all the best original production decisions.
I guess there was pressure to go big and get them out fast but thats not what this story needed at all.
Plus all the dwarves look shite.

Going back to the banana split from Bone Tomahawk. Have people ever stopped watching a film because of a particular scene?
I can think of two. Who's Watching Oliver because the rape scene was way too much for me and Cannibal Holochaust when they killed the animals. Just didn't want to dignify it by finishing the film. That was before I found out how many horses they killed making them fall over in old western films :\

Candyman
I barely remembered this other than I was scared shitless of it as a kid. Turns out, it's not terrifying as an adult, but the story is still good and it's generally quite fucked up. I look forward to the new one this month!
Why do Americans call wasps bees though?

Cruella 7/10
Quite adult, and quite good but it suffers from being 30 minutes too long.

I think that has a good chance of being better than Hellraiser 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, etc

Armed Response
Wesley Snipes leads a team to investigate why a secret facility has gone off line. Its low budget shows, but there's some decent build up, and I liked how they didn't rely on just the action for the atmosphere. The reveal is a bit bobbins, and the ending a tad messy, but not a bad film overall.

Guns akimbo
Just watching all the new films on the prime free trial
Its ok, harry potter gets 2 guns nailed to his hands in a underground reality kill show. Didn't realise the blonde woman is actually samara weaving, she is unrecognisable as nix. It has some forced video game references. Its quite gory but its like kid saw john wick on too much redbull and directed a film
5.5/10

Radcliffe is a friggin chameleon also.

The Firm 7/10. It would have been more except for the soundtrack which sounded like it was lifted from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I watched Baby Driver for the first time last night, really enjoyed it, but it's hard to watch anything with Spacey in these days. Soundtrack is great, especially when worked into the scene through action or the environment.
Still a solid 80/100 though.

The Suicide Squad 61/100. Its fine but at least 20 minutes too long and has pacing issues as a result. It's got a Deadpool flavour but it's quite sour.

Saw the trailer for the new Candyman. It looks rubbish. I disagree 100%, I thought the trailer looked pretty cool and was an interesting way to update the social themes in the first one whilst building on the legacy in a believable and consistent way.

Bone Tomahawk
Really enjoyed it, went into it pretty blind and glad I did. Surprisingly funny around the brutality.
I read The Sisters Brothers recently, so may watch that next.
