I might ask for my money back. I don't play games to walk over bosses. They walk all over you with their heels on. Reportedly, a couple of them, not so much

Had a few goes at the Archbishop tonight, definitely doable, getting deep into the second phase each time, just need to get better at parrying a few of the attacks and I think I'll have him down next session.
Love the design of this boss, nice and gross.

Met the Brotherhood last night and I guess I'll be stuck there for a while, my first 7-8 attempts went nowhere; my first stumbling block so far.

I got a one shot on them, I found blasting the little ones out the way and let the specter deal with the big chap until I had a gap.
I absolutely loved their intro movie though, it's the best one so far.

I just focused solely on the big guy, tended to result in them all clustering together so guarding protected from all of their attacks, and attacking hit them all. Was a bit manic but got the job done.
The Specter is definitely OP since the patch, especially once you factor in what you can do with some of the wishstones, and the star fragments still being really easy to farm.

With the Brotherhood I actually made a point of parrying right from the start to break his sword. The others only join in after a damage threshold anyway so you'll have time. Just keep practicing, youll get a feel for timing. Breaking the sword means less of an issue for rest of the fight. Spear and rapier guy can both be backstabbed too.

Thank for tips, much appreciated!!!
EDIT: ...and he is down... A mix of dirty bombing and concentrating my attacks on him, while my summon held his ground against the brothers, did the trick...
...and yes Frog, I did cheese this one

...If "cheesing" means "using items that were put in the game by the developers and explicitly encouraged by having a shop that sells them right before the boss", that is (sorry Frog and anyone else, but I'm never going to consider simply using resources available to you as cheesing. If they broke his AI somehow -if the Specter made you fully invisible in terms of aggro, for instance- then maybe, but otherwise cheesing -to me- is more along the lines of "jump/glitch on the box in the corner and the boss' attacks can't reach you ever, but you can still hit the boss even without ranged attacks", unintended/missed-in-testing behaviour, basically)

Never had it, but it sounds delicious To clarify, (because I recognize that my post above could come across as standoffish), I'm not saying that someone that doesn't want to use items/summons/whatever is wrong for wanting to limit themselves, just that using said things doesn't line up with what I view as "cheesing" in a game. It was part good-natured ribbing, part me stating my opinion

I don't care if someone fires 2 million arrows to kill a boss if that's how they want to kill it. The bosses are always the worst part of these games anyway

Lies of P is a delight between bosses, and then when you hit the next one it's just a bit annoying. Boss fights for me are always something to suffer through in these games rather than something I enjoy.
The Brotherhood was an interesting fight - almost easier without the summon as with him drawing the little ones away was a bit trickier, and I think that was my route to success: draw them away from the big dude, finish them asap, and then get back to him. Rinse, repeat.
And use the trusty flamberge of course. I bloody love it, especially now it's levelled further.

The bosses are always the worst part of these games anyway I dunno, some of them are slogs but there's a lot I can think of that are genuine highlights regardless of difficulty. The Storm King, O/S, Sif, Gwyn, Artorias, Sister Friede, Slave Knight Gael, Lady Maria, Morgott, Rykard, Astel, Malenia, Lady Butterfly, Owl, the Divine Dragon just to name a few, and that's without going outside of the FromSoft Soulslikes...

I either hate or dislike most of them I'm not being a contrarian, there's just something about most boss fights in these games that trigger rather than tickle me (my son never fails to remind me of the one time in my life I have actually smashed a controller - Black Cerberus in The Surge; I still feel ashamed of myself!). The exception from your list might be The Storm King - I'm all for more gimmicky bosses, for want of a better word. Maybe I draw the line at Dragon God. Funnily enough, Demon's Souls is the one game in the genre where I love most boss fights, even notorious ones like Flamelurker. Perhaps because with many there's a way to cheese them, like raining soul arrows on Adjudicator from above But it's also got a number of encounters that just felt really fresh at the time, and are still fun without being rage-inducing - Tower Knight, Fool's Idol, Old Monk, Old Hero...Old Hero is possibly my favourite of the lot simply because I love boss fights which are based on patience rather than skill (despite the controller-smashing, I have some of the former...and also have none of the latter). This is likely why The End from Snake Eater is my favourite boss encounter of all time (and MGS as a series probably wins in terms of overall favourite boss battles, especially the first and third).

Back to Lies of P - I wish there was a bit more game between boss fights at times. I thought Malum was a fantastic area, beautifully pitched in terms of challenge, but just too short.

FlexibleFeline Agree with you on that! I'm enjoying these smaller, compact areas in this game (and Wo Long, come to think of it), but the Malum was too small (ooh matron)...

I've actually got to a bit with wider open areas. I get anxiety wondering which way I should go when I haven't had to worry about that decision all game

Yeah, it's been very linear - with little offshoots and loops - and I've enjoyed that about the game in truth.

addyb Time your running towards them according to their throws and beat the shit out of them once you reach them; easier said than done, I know, but soon you won't have to deal with them again!

Easily my least favourite part of the game in terms of traversal - persist and as Frog mentioned to me a page or two back, definitely unlock the shortcut once you get up there!

Finally got the archbishop down, took another four attempts today, so had to work for it. I was persevering with the flamberge legion arm for too long, switching to falchon eyes gave me the edge I needed. Good fight, though I'm aware I wouldn't likely have said that pre-patch.

Fighting the White Lady is fun. Nice moveset, the setting, the music. I'm also a rapier user so it feels like two fencers going at it, it did almost feel like a dance. Though it does feel like that parry of hers can also be parried back because of the long wind up but I don't think you can.

It was nice variety at that point to have a fast, human opponent. However... they all fall to the backstab...
