That's why I feel like games, maybe TV series, and even maybe *spits* anime might be the way to go for some of these franchises.
There's not really many new places to go with terminator/aliens/predator*/etc movies as they've already pretty much covered it.
But there'll always be room for a new aliens/terminator/etc game every 5 years or so. There's not so much pressure to compare to the originals, and fans will often just be happy to spend time in the fantasy. (See recent star wars game)
* Though Prey was a decent attempt

The next Predator movie, Badlands, is supposedly filming, and they want Prey 2 as well. Both by Dan Trachtenberg, who directed Prey.
And a TV show, Alien: Earth, from Noah Hawley.

I'd quite happily watch Terminator 3 for fun. I wouldn't watch anything after Resurrection for fun.

This Terminator cartoon is a lot more anime than I was expecting. I’m not sure I’m entirely into that.
Not sure about the cgi-hybrid animation either. Unless its some meta-commentary on the machines taking over.

I thought it was a solid 7/10, but yeah the anime is really quite jarring but I say that as someone who doesn't watch any of it usually.

I’ll give you that. Terminator never gets as low as Requiem or The Predator. Requiem is bordering on truly unwatchable. Yet I dislike Terminator: Salvation more than any of them. I absolutely hate that movie.

Not sure about the cgi-hybrid animation either. Unless its some meta-commentary on the machines taking over. It’s just the way things are now in that space. Anime has exploded in popularity and the studios are literally working animators to death, so something had to give.

Started watching Zero and it's surprisingly not too bad so far. I'd almost say enjoyable.
It's got me in the mood for rewatching the series, but a quick glance at justwatch makes that look like a bit of a headache.

Well I thought it was "okay" not great!
If you're not even remotely anime-curious I can see why it may not work for a lot of people.
I also used the English voice acting, sod being pure about using subs.

Yeah, off the top of my head Terminator has probably the worst good/bad ratio and the steepest quality drop of the series you’d probably associate with one another. Alien has two classics and a handful of good and a couple of bad. Predator has a classic, a couple of good and only one bad. Robocop admittedly only has one classic, a good and two bad but no one watches any of the sequels anymore. Terminator you’ve got two classics then the rest is all bad. I think you’re at least classing Robo 2 as ‘good’ there but for me as an action film it’s a total classic. It’s very obviously a lesser satire than the first, but I don’t actually think it’s a slouch in that department either. But I think Robocain is just the best stop motion end of level boss ever. It may be tainted by my fondness for it as a whippersnapper but I still love this film.

I wouldn't even class Robo 2 as good. It's mystifying how it manages to do the same as #1 yet just be so much worse in every area. I will grant that the end of level stop motion boss is well done.

RoboCop is one of my all time favourite movies, it’s perfect
The second one is rather terrible indeed, but I’m always surprised by the amount of people that can’t see a stark difference between the two of them

Robocop 2 is all over the place. Some of it is good, most of it is shit or mental.
