Well, recalling the carnage of the EGTCC long, long ago, I'm not sure we should put that to the test.
Presume crossplay between 4/5 will be a thing ? How's that going to pan out between fps/lag/modes etc ? So many unanswered questions, and after the classic/updated model scandal and old atrocious rubberband AI, it does feel like they've learned their lesson, and improved across the board, but I'll hang fire for now until more impressions are around.

I really hope classic v updated models are a thing of the past.
Ha, remember Whitesidegate. Maybe we could start another laptime leader board.

So the new AI is coming to GT7 in an update apparently.

Watched the DF video. Ray tracing, but only when you're not playing the game. Er, thanks?

Not a problem for me, if they'd added it for gameplay it would have tanked the framerate.

Not necessarily, look at Miles Morales. It's about choosing the right compromise. Anyway, just seems a bit pointless having ray tracing at all if it's not when you're driving.

Its pretty common to add extra visual stuff to replays running at a lower frame rate. There's rumours that they are trying to add it to gameplay too.

As long as the legacy cars are a thing of the past and in-game is 60 frames and looks good.
It looks amazing but I think where GT7 will really shine and set it's stall out v Forza Motorsport is content. 34 locations, 400 cars, 300 music tracks, the museum mode thing, all the different modes like the one where you have to drift and do tricks in time to the music, on top of license tests and special events like Goodwood and shit.
All new flagship racers look amazing, that's kind of the minimum expected.

All about the career mode for me. Good selection of races in all categories (most importantly a good set of endurance ones) and I'll be as happy as a pig in shit with it.

I'm not sure about track count, but Forza Motorsport has long surpassed Gran Turismo in car count, and that used to be the one thing GT fans would mock Forza about.
I'll still surely enjoy this more, even if Forza 8 has better visuals and more cars, because the actual control of said cars just feels better in GT, and they just about perfected it in Sport.

This popped up in my feed earlier, good summary: m.youtube.com/watch?v=TZCeF54a6fUFirst half shows the Sophy Vs GT pros stuff. All I'm seeing is that the new AI will be dirty, cheating f**ks.

I really wasn’t impressed by Forza 7, plus, rewinds, come on- they’re perfect for Horizon but are a concession to far in a sim racer, even a sim-cade racer.

In Singapore there is a giant Gran Turismo 7 car vending machine that sells real cars. It's a 15 story high glass fronted tower that displays the cars for sale. You pick and pay for the car you want, and a robotic lift system picks the car out and delivers it to you at the ground floor. Thought it sounded pretty cool. www.gtplanet.net/gt7-car-vending-machine-singapore-20220217/

That is equal parts awesome, and disgusting that there are people out there who can happily buy a car without a care in the world in the same way I buy a guilty Snickers on the way out of the gym.

Not a great thing when you have many people trying to log in etc.

Not a great thing when you have many people trying to log in etc. It need an online connection to stop people cheating with game saves apparently, "...it's just to prevent cheating overall from people trying to modify the save data, so that's the reason for the online connection,"

Sport was always online too. I never had any issues logging on. Maybe best to avoid the first week like any other always online title though.

I had one or two problems being able to continue the single player stuff in Sport on the very rare occasion I had internet trouble when I wanted to play it. It's a bit dumb, I think they do it because they have to for the anti-cheat stuff, in order to be recognised by the FIA as a proper 'sport', or so the old wives tale goes.

Admittedly I rarely had an issue with gt sport either and it did have single player content you could do if there were server issues.
Hopefully something similar to that is the case.

One nice advantage of the online saves is that it acts as a free PS+ backup for your game save.
After I lost all my PS4 game progress to a corrupted system update, GT Sport was the only game I was able to restore my save file for as it asked me when starting the game for the "first" time if I wanted to download the most recent save that had been uploaded.
It's probably a minority of players who'd benefit from this, but if you ever let your PS+ expire it is a help.

Have you tested it on anything yet?

So, how's the wheel?

The wheel is a great bit of kit, unfortunately I've only got two games to try it on. Dirt 5 was awful tbh, partly because of not having a handbrake as trying to stretch to a button was impossible, also the FFB settings in game are a bit shit and it locks you out of changing the settings in the wheelbase. Driveclub was really good, after a couple of goes I was definitely faster than with a pad but because it's an old game there's no FFB support. I've managed to get Assetto Corsa Comp for £20 today for the free PS5 upgrade so hopefully I'll be able to use the wheel properly.
