Kind of agree with Decks, but can't say it bothers me a great deal, especially after he's killed the 237th person, the fact he looks slow and fucking knackered seems quite appropriate by that stage.
As for the new film, wowsers.
I've been thinking about it overnight and I'd say on balance it's the best of the 4. It's the supporting characters that made it for me.
Bill Skarsgård is easily the best villain the series has had so far and finally, FINALLY, someone has put Donnie Yen to good use in a Hollywood film, he's amazing. Plus there's Hiroyuki Sanada, Clancy Brown and an utterly bonkers Scott Adkins playing a Wilson Fisk type. They're all great.
Action sequences were superb, but a special mention has to go to a top down view rampage Wick goes on with an explosive shell loaded shotgun.
My only real criticism is much like the third film, one or two of the fights just go on far too long.
But other than that, definitely recommended. Although if you don't dig the Wick films, this isn't going to change your mind, it'll only accelerate your hatred for them.

Dunno if it's because I've spent quite a bit of time in boxing gyms that it bothers so much. You kind of learn how to spot who's hitting hard and fast just from seeing them punch a few times. He just looks like a creaky old guy in them to me. I agree he looks quite awkward. A bit like the lummox Neeson. It's noticeable in films like Man of Tai Chi, especially opposite Tiger Chen. But.. It's almost as though he has his own clunky style. A bit like Chuck Norris, his shit wasn't really made for film but I assume it's effective. It's noticeable in the Wick films but I don't find it a distraction.

Just left the cinema. Awesome. Nothing too ground breaking in terms of actions Vs the first 3 bar one scene late on but the non action parts easily the best in the series. Excellent movie.

Really enjoyed it too, some of the action was pretty insane and the Hotline Miami part, with added Dragon Breath shotgun fun, was superbly done. The whole setup of the world still makes no real sense but it does have its own internal logic I suppose. Not entirely sure Scott Adkins in a fat suit really worked but that's a minor thing.

Just seen it today. It was mostly good, but felt the final act raised it to another level. Up until the calling of the duel it had great action, but plot was meandering and without much purpose. The simple "Wick needs to get to a place by this time and everyone's trying to stop him" plot gave it much needed momentum. I'm not really sure why they didn't get to that stage much, much sooner and basically make that the plot of the film. It is too long, but I've seen shorter films that have felt longer.

The third act is perhaps more realistic than I thought given this actual footage of Paris.

I mean I'm a fan but we've got the spin off film and TV show so maybe chill a little?

Yeah, surprising no one. McShane's final line and Fishburne's responding smile was clearly intended as an opening that he will be back Also agree that they probably have enough going on with the franchise and could leave his story there. Franchise going to franchise though.

Part 5 was green lit after Part 3 - 4 and 5 were going to be shot back to back but that changed. Stahelski has said that every movie has been concepted by him and Reeves, drinking and throwing ideas around, and at the moment he (Stahelski) has 11 projects lined up so Part 5 won’t be next or soon, if he does it at all. The studio are obviously interested but it comes down to whether those 2 guys want to drive it, otherwise it may be something very different.

I think it'll be a while before a JW5 happens, if it does, as Chad has an incredibly busy schedule coming up and they probably want to stick with him directing.
It's made a fuckton of cash though so I'm sure the studio will want to keep it going despite the ending suggesting things.
I guess we'll see how The Ballerina does but I doubt it'll be that close on the dollars front even with all the JW regulars (including Lance Reddick) having some part in it.

I know there may be civil disturbances going on across Paris but no Gendarme response is quite the indictment!
Enjoyed it, though did prefer the first. The nods to gaming were fun.
We were the only group to stay until the post credit scene, as fortunately I'd heard it was a thing on the Kermode & Mayo podcast.

Jeez. Just realised this doesn't come out here until September! Japan is almost always the last country to get movies, but recently I've mainly only been going to the cinema to watch things like Marvel and Star Wars that generally get simultaneous international releases even in Japan, so I'd kinda forgotten that we usually have to wait so long that I've forgotten about it by the time it comes out. I think things are slightly better than they were 5 years ago, but I wonder if that's only due to the pandemic and the Marvel effect skewing things. Dune, D&D and Avatar got the global release dates. Oh well.

I seem to be the only person in the world that thinks he looks like a decrepit old man in these too. I started watching 3 last night and it's so painfully obvious he's much slower and weaker than the stuntmen he's fighting. Just no snap to anything he does. Its a bit like a game, where he's fighting one and the other enemies hold back a bit when they could easily shoot him in the back of the head and be done with it. Even the waves of enemies reminds me of a game too. Saw it last night, it's entertaining and very stylish, basically a 3 hour long fight scene, but there's no substance.

Honestly, five films deep, unless he's fighting off the hordes of gammon rioters from our Great British streets this summer (would watch), where is he finding goons thick enough to still be trying to take him down by this point?
I jest. Happy to watch Keanu do his thing again, what a guy.
