I played a round, which was of course not enough to dispel the general confusion but I did get the impression that there's a lot of height variation in the jungle area. They added a kind of Lewis Gun that was fun to use, too. And that's my After Action Report.
Flipping through it, this battle pass is very take-it-or-leave-it. Can't say I find it very exciting at all. If I level up enough to make a "profit" I'll buy it, but maybe(?!) I'll finally find a more valuable use for my free time. Also still a bit cranky that Lara Croft is never coming back, even though this'd be the perfect season for it.

The skater/punk girl seems a bit worn out at this point, as the last 3 seasons have had something similar. And the blandly-good-looking dude characters have been a bit meh for the past few seasons too.
Why is Lara never coming back?

And the blandly-good-looking dude characters have been a bit meh for the past few seasons too. Why is Lara never coming back? She was a battle pass skin, but also a 25th anniversary tie-in, so the likelihood of them even doing a new variant is basically nil, especially with no new TR game on the horizon. The part that stings is that I knew all about the collab, I just didn't bother since I'd tried Fortnite before (this was pre-Zero Build) and didn't get on with it.
Oh well!

There is some crazy shit going on in this map. Similar to the Indiana Jones temple from a few seasons back, there’s a puzzle (that I couldn’t work out), but in another room I somehow managed to transform my skin to some golden skeleton Aztec crown guy Also just got my first victory royale  \o/ |

Yeah I futzed with some kind of puzzle but got attacked before I could do much with it. Wound up playing quite a bit with friends today and got to level 7. The jungle is really quite different and feels like a separate map within the main one, a feeling reinforced by the difference in elevation, but that might dissipate with familiarity. The drum shotgun seems really powerful, since I got quite a few kills with it, and the mythic Lewis Gun seems overpowered, since a bunch of people killed me with it. I didn't even go near Mega City, though it's only the first day and that will change, but I do wish they would've let the jungle take it a bit, maybe flooded it and made it overgrown. And boats are finally back! That was nice to see.
I will be shocked if the boomerang doesn't get nerfed almost immediately, since it's an easy 60 damage if you're even looking roughly in an opponent's direction and doesn't seem to have any cooldown whatsoever. It's basically a homing missile.

Only played in the jungle briefly. It is very vertical and I like the vines.
But it's also horribly visually busy with all the plants and undergrowth. I keep getting killed by people before I even work out where they are. I feel like turning the graphics settings down would give a big advantage in the jungle area.
I've clearly been using the boomerang wrong, because I didn't realize it was homing and I've been trying to target players with it, so it seemed a bit rubbish.

Do you guys swap skins a lot?
I'm still rocking the borderlands 3 bandit skin with claptrap backpack ever since it came out. Never see anybody else using it either.

Nah, when I find something I like I tend to stick with it. I used the 8-Ball vs Scratch one for a long time, until the updated version of that came out. Really like the Articulated Blade Wing as well, although I do occasionally equip the TRON light cycle glider.

I did, but recently I've followed someone here's advice (forget who, soz) and made a bunch of presets in the locker, and then I mostly leave it on Random, because I know all the presets that I've made are cool. My fave skins might have 2 or 3 slightly different presets so they come up more often.
Then I added one preset that just has everything set to random, just for a bit of variety.
If I get a cool new skin then I will of course turn off random for a short while to play with that, and then I'll add it to the rotation.

I do switch things up frequently but there are handful of skins I tend to default to because they feel right. I'd like to go random since you collect skins like flies in this game but I'm also pretty fussy about this stuff, so.

I think that was me  I've been switching between Predator, Lara Croft and Indiana Jones because of the whole jungle/ruin thing, but usually I have it on shuffle with a load of presents and a few completely random ones. Top tip, if you have skins set as favourite, only those ones will be used when you set the skin to random in a locker preset, so you can mix just between the ones you like |

I finally caved and bought Save The World, the Fortnite single player campaign. I’ve been meaning to for a while but it comes bundled with a skin and none of the previous bundles grabbed me.
Anyway, my early impressions of the campaign are surprisingly good. I was half expecting it to feel really old and unloved, more like an artefact of “where it all began” before the Battle Royale mode blew up, but it’s actually pretty decent. Reminds me of a 3d Plants vs Zombies, but where PvZ Garden Warfare got rid of the tower defense and did a straight shooter, this definitely keeps the base building/defense bit and does it pretty well. There’s quite a lot of crafting, levelling up your characters, base, schematics etc with 15 different currencies (in game, not paid), so that’s not for everyone, but the gameplay seems decent and I’m actually kind of enjoying the story?!
Also, it came with 1500 Vbux that you earn by playing it, which isn’t far off what you’d get if you just bought Vbux for the same price as the game anyway. And you earn Battlepass XP too, which I didn’t realise, so at least I’m still levelling that too.
In summary, maybe not for everyone but I’m enjoying it a lot more than I expected.

Also I’m learning to build, set traps, and edit quickly - you kind of have to - so at least if they ever get rid of Zero Build Mode I won’t be totally stuffed |

Is it actually a single player campaign?
I always thought it was more of a wave based zombie survival game originally.. but still co-op / multiplayer.
I've been mildly tempted to check it out as well, but I dunno if I'll ever pull the trigger.

Bill in the rain it’s definitely a wave based survival game, and admittedly yes it’s probably more suited to co-op, but I’ve been playing it solo without it being too challenging. I did launch one game with autofill on by mistake, and it populated immediately, so people must be playing it. I launched it, but then got annoyed when a random went straight to the main quest while I was pottering about the level and helping a survivor… so back to single player I went. So no, it’s not a single player campaign, poor phrasing by me, I just meant “not the Battle Royale mode”

Between the uninteresting battle pass and the jungle forcing you to play Rising Storm in the middle of Fortnite, my interest in this season petered out rather quickly.
Edit: And after playing a round, it turns out the new explosive rifle is a crock of shit, too.

I hated the jungle at first, but it's kinda grown on me. (same thing seems to happen with every season). The interactions with mud can be kinda fun. The good thing is if you don't like the jungle you can mostly ignore it, unless the final circles end up there. I've only been playing a little this season (and the last couple of seasons tbh). The battle pass doesn't really have any bad skins, just nothing amazing. Except Optimus Prime. I was killed by Optimus last time I played and it is a great skin. I was like 'oh, that's a cool skin. Oh, I'm dead.'   |

Still enjoying the Save The World campaign. I’m also gradually unlocking harvesting tools that I can use in Battle Royale, which surprised me because they weren’t even advertised in the pack I bought. I’m now wondering if there’s any skins or gliders in there too…

I love the mud, really cool mechanic.
I mentioned to my regular duo partner it would be cool if it meant you didn't show up on thermals like in predator, and that's exactly how it works! Mind blown.

Got the Optimus Prime skin, which was basically the only one I really wanted from the Battle Pass. Nothing much I want in the Bonus Rewards, so I guess I can take a break for a while.
Ended it with a Victory Royale as well. *emote*

Haven't played any of this season. Just didn't appeal plus playing a lot of Street Fighter. I'll play and get an umbrella as I've got everyone since S3 but hoping the next iteration is a bit more exciting.

I’ve played loads this season- I’m on the final set of bonus skins (the golden tiger style ones). Probably helped to get there by getting Save The World early in the season, which gives a surprising amount of Battle Pass XP.
I’ve also got every umbrella since Chapter 2 season 2 and wouldn’t want to break that streak, so I’m hooked into it for sure!

Like every season, I've been unimpressed at the beginning, before gradually getting more into it.
I hated the jungle areas at first, but after getting familiar with them I rather like them, and the interactions with things like mud now.
I wasn't a big fan of most of the battle pass skins, other than Prime. But as usual, during the season I've slightly warmed on them, while also cooling slightly on the final skin due to seeing it too often.
At least there weren't any super annoying weapons in this season like that hammer.
But I definitely played it less this season than previous seasons. I think that's more about me though.

The Relik skin was my surprise favourite this season. Not the base version with the shitty undercut - the variant where he's got a full-head mask and long coat-tails. Proper dapper gent, makes me want to give him a top hat and cane.

Not played it yet, but at first glance the new battlepass looks deeply meh. There's not really a single skin I'm interested in, other than Ahsoka I guess I'll probably end up getting it just for the vbucks, but ... meh |

I do like the look of the new areas in the map, and I’m glad to see the back of The Citadel. But yeah the skins are a bit boring.
I’m in Center Parcs this weekend so I can’t really play, but I did get a cheeky look at the new battle pass by streaming the mobile game via Amazon Luna. No controller though, and I’m not using touchscreen so I doubt I’ll launch a game unless I’m really bored.

Is the Ahsoka skin supposed to be that easy to grab?
I expected it to be another of those events where you have to unlock a series of things before finally getting the skin at the end.
Instead I dropped in at one of the mansions, ran through 3 markers, and had the skin within about 1 minute!
