I have foolishly bought the battle pass with VBux accumulated from previous passes, and then totally neglected the game in favour of Starfield. Think I need to do a mad rush so I at least get enough exp to get my VBux back again…

Anyone playing the new “OG” mini-season? It’s actually quite nostalgic for me - even though it’s based on Chapter 1 and I joined in Chapter 2, there are places I remember fondly like Risky Reels and Pleasant Park. And the Tactical Shotgun’s back!
I haven’t bought the pass yet because I didn’t complete it last season and this one’s full price for half the content? But I guess it still works out “free” if you get to the end, so I may end up with it anyway if I can tear away from Starfield long enough to get to lv50

Fired up Fortnite for my nephew (pc) after the recent update and for some reason it doesn't seem to respond to or recognise any of my controllers. Anyone else had anything similar? They work fine in Fall Guys as an example of another Epic-launched game.
Nevermind. A reboot and being forced to log in to epic again seems to have done something and it's working now.

The OG map shows how much more complicated the map geometry has gotten and how much nicer it looks. It's also brutal, taken away augments and fancy weapons. Now weapons are harder to get, ammo is scarce it seems, shield potions harder to find. Not complaining but it feels harsher and firefights over quick if caught napping.
I remember it all though. Each location seems familiar straight away.

I want sure about OG maps. I spent so much time on them in the early days and there's a lot of open areas but the combination of zero build and the weekly updates keep it interesting.
Nice not to have everyone running about with full shields and an arsenal of legendary weapons.

Yesterday I learned from my kids that the cube coming out of loot lake is called Kevin. We all didn’t start playing until Chapter 2 so we missed all that, but they must have picked up the previous lore from Tik Tok or something.
I’ve even been playing some build mode for true nostalgia's sake. Still can’t manage much more than a quick barrier wall or ramp, so I won’t be switching for good.

It seems much tougher to get shields and ammo this season. I'm rarely at over 50% shields, and I keep having to swap weapons because I'm out of ammo.
As with every season, I hated it at first and then it's grown on me. Storm circles seem slower too. The last couple of matches where I was down to the last 5 or so people still had a huge play area remaining, whereas in the last season we'd have been jammed into a tiny circle.
Dunno if it's still in there this week, but that sniper rifle from week 1 was way OP. Very fast rate of fire for a sniper, and not needing to reload often. I'm shit with sniper rifles, and I still racked up 10 kills with one in a single match. The lass got 16 with one in a single match!
It's much harder to get XP though, with no kickstart quests or character quests to give you a boost. I've finished week 1 and week 2 quests and I'm still only level 13. Not sure how I'll get to level 70(?) in 4 weeks.

Yeah the auto sniper is OP (and fun) and the scoped assault rifle is something I like to have handy along with a rift-to-go to get me out of trouble,
I feel like the splash area for the rocket launcher might be bigger? Though I could be imagining that. Shame the traps are only for build mode but it makes sense.

Is anyone else being forced back to the lobby after every match since today's update, or just me? I don't have an option to join another match any more- I keep nearly reporting the player who killed me by mistake because that's now the first option.

This short season has been kinda annoying in that it's hard to get enough quests to fully level up.
I didn't buy the battle pass this time as I wasn't interested in any of the skins, but I kinda want the level 46 glider.
But I basically finished all available quests ages ago and I was still only about level 38.
Other than that, I've kinda enjoyed the OG season. It took a while to grow on me, but the cleaner map has been interesting. Some cool new (for me) places to explore, and by having new weapons and items each week it's kept it fresh.

I’ve enjoyed it for a change- the map plays quite differently in Zero Build, with all the high spots that can only be reached by zipline. I’ve missed cars and bikes though, and proper bushes to hide in, so I’m looking forward to the next one.
I got to lv60-something by playing most days and doing the daily quests as well as the weekly ones. Don’t think I played much after completing the dailys, apart from a couple of evenings trying to complete the survivor quests (my llama is legendary now, not going to get it to exotic unfortunately)

It's kinda felt like a massive step back, no swimming, not many vehicles, lots of meh weapons, large open featureless spaces, et Al. I guess in one way its nostalgic, but really you can see how far it's actually come, which is much harder with smaller incremental steps over time. Personally though, I can't wait for it to get back to what it's become 😅 There's a live event tomorrow for those that don't know, 7pm I think. Looking forward to see what the next big change will be. I did manage to finish the battle pass and the bonus one too though!  |

Hope this is a safe space for this confession… One of the little joys, for me, of getting the extra skins at the top of the battle pass is finding a matching back-bling, pickaxe and glider. My golden Renegade Lynx looks decent with Midas’ golden backpack and axe, although the colour isn’t a perfect match to be fair. The exalted skies contrail from chapter 3 season 3 does look perfect though. The only games where I care about customisation are the ones played in third person- so that’s Fortnite, GTA*, and Souls games. Quite a spread! *GTA clothes are a bit lame though, so my character’s worn the same hoody and cargo pants for years. |

I've been playing a LOT, quite enjoyed this season and remembering bits of the map. I also see why weapons get vaulted. Drum shotgun lol.
I'm sporting the Exotic and four (10 kill) wins a way from the Mythic Lama backpack, which might sound unlikely but I have had a lot of games with super high bot numbers so getting 10 kills has been comparatively easy compared to other seasons. I don't think I'm going to be able to get it before the season ends and I suspect that any new map will mean this will be as close as I ever get, so a little frustrating.
Still looking forward to seeing what comes next.

I found the lack of cars, swimming, etc... to be really frustrating at first. But once I got used to it I didn't really miss them.
TBF there were lots of vehicles (trolleys, hoverboards, golf carts, etc..) so it wasn't really that cars were gone.

Our eldest (8) was borderline inconsolable he couldn't get on for the live event. Queue times were insane and even then it would timeout and/or crash once he reached the end of the queue. Even now for the second showing the wait times are too long to actually see the live event.
We just watched a livestream in the end, it's a relatively passive experience all things considered so watching someone else go through it is fine, with the added benefit of not having to arse about with the flooded servers.
