Biggest load of corporate speak of saying a lot of words but saying nothing at all. Completely wanted to avoid that question. Why even agree to an interview if you're gonna sigh and be annoyed at the most obvious question to be asking at this time?

Awful. “Delivering on our promises…” by killing off a studio that actually made a good game for them for once.
Nice dress though Sarah.

Corking bit of casual misogyny there mother. I bet the ladies in your job love it when you give them a pat on the head like that. Do you follow it up with other corkers like "smile, it might never happen".

Sarah is suppose to be the person to take over from Phil when he leaves/kicked out iirc
While Phil has made mistakes, he never did such a bad interview as that

It's one of the things he is very good at in general. If they are going to continue to have the person in that role as a public figure then they need someone that can do better than she does with interviews.
I'm not sure the head of Xbox needs to be in the spotlight though, just go down the avenue of having someone like major nelson do it.

Yeah I mean someone like Jim Ryan would never give an interview in this situation.

I am kinda impressed that either she color coordinated her outfit with their set and on-screen graphics, or they color coordinated their set and on-screen graphics with her outfit.

As your man on Eurogamer succinctly puts it, what is the point in Xbox?
(to provide some needed competition to Sony is the only thing I can come up with myself)

Cross save with pc games so I can play stuff on both depending on what's available in my house at the time. Generally runs multiplatform games better and has a controller I prefer. Xbox live tend to be better than PSN and gamepass is better than playstation plus. It's also quieter than the ps5. To name a few from my perspective anyway.
For me anyway, I own both but generally only play the sony exclusives on the ps5.

In the EG article, I argued the wrong thing MS has done since the game dev acquisitions was the "hands off" approach. Maybe it felt good at the time to leave the studios uninterrupted to do their own thing and not be the new bad guy swooping in changing everything, but in hindsight it left them guide-less.
If the idea behind the acquisitions was to have a barn of developers churning off AA and AAA games at a regular pace to feed into GamePass, they failed miserably. Sure, you can have Todd Howard do his thing with Bethesda, but smaller teams like Arkane, Tango, Double Fine or Ninja Theory should be coordinated by someone at MS (answering directly to Phil), greenlighting projects, scheduling releases around the calendar and making sure something -anything- internally developed would be added to GamePass.
Instead, all we got was delay after delay and excuses with the occasional gem (Hi-Fi Rush) thrown in and get punished for it. Hell, even the fact that Zenimax was asked to determine which studios (and why) would be axed is silly. At this stage, MS should own-up to its responsibilities, take the helm and face the consequences...

Isn't that their excuse for closing them though, that there are too many to be managed in that way?

It seems like the same problem RBS and pretty much every acquisition hungry company have. If you buy a company, you introduce another management layer above everything that's already in place and they stop being companies and become departments.
You then need somebody competent to actually staff this layer and when they fuck it up, perfectly decent companies go to the wall because the thing that consumed them overstretched their management drone strata.
Its disgusting, really. Companies should be prevented from acquiring other companies without some kind of proof that they won't completely shit the bed.

You can't expect billion dollar company to manage and fund all these studios they just purchased
Bethesda always seemed over valued - yeah they have skyrim (which they can put out again and again) Doom and fallout IP. But they don't have any major games outside that. other studios had critical success but never big sellers. MS need for game pass content killed Arkane austin, they should of scrapped Redfall - anyone at the studio said they didn't want it. Its sort of like netflix, churn out "content" and you get shite like rebel moon and many others

Seems a very American thing to say they own an IP brand like COD etc.

Its been proved quite a lot recently that just having the IP means nothing if you can't make products people actually give a fuck about.

Seeing as there are more cuts to happen I doubt it. Whoever decided to do this now is a fucking idiot.
I genuinely feel they didn't think there would be this much of a reaction.

Realistically there isn't that much of a reaction. It's gaming news sites and forums, most other people don't really care as long as their next game comes out and is decent.

Believing the current Xbox leadership about anything is like believing Boris Johnson when he says that he's not going to cheat on his current wife/mistress/bit on the side. At some point you have to throw in the towel.

According to some ex-box people that someone from ign spoke to, it's very much "Microsoft Gaming" now as opposed to Xbox.
