Fucked about with it for an hour last night, got to the hallway fight scene where I was picking up a pipe, bashing peoples heads in, throwing it, punching and kicking. Ah it was amazing. The intro title card was cool as hell too. Really curious to play more and see if this notorious second level is as difficult as people say.

I know you can use l1 and up or down to avoid high and low strikes but is that for enemies with weapons only? Kinda hard to gauge from my time if it dodged high punches and kicks too. Though the lack of any visual cue from the enemies on what type of attack is coming could be pretty frustrating.

Yeah it dodges everything. I think it's going to be the key to getting really good at it. It's really difficult to do but feels great when you nail a few dodges in a row.

Watched some footage of this last night. I can see why it's right up Decks' street. It looks pretty amazing in all fairness but I don't think it's something that I could ever master so I'd probably just rather watch someone else playing it as it looks phenomenal in motion.

The dodge feels a little unnatural to me at the minute. Feels like it leaves you super vulnerable if you dont get it right and attacks are really hard to telegraph so far so I leant on the R2 evade a lot last night. I guess in time you'll be able to signpost particular moves coming your way.

Back to Sifu though, I wonder if my brother knows about this, I'll need to text him. He pretty much grew up watching films like this, which is exactly who it seems to be aimed at. What's the difficulty like? If it's solid then he might not be keen.

It is hard. It's a rogue-lite, designed to be replayed over and over to level up and help progressing.
During a run you can unlock more combat moves, and once you have them unlocked you can keep pumping credits into them (about 5x the initial cost) to permanently unlock them for all runs. But these only seem to be additions. You also unlock extra health regen, structure (think of it like a kind of guard before you take significant damage) and some other bits. You should be able to beat the game with just the base combat moves, dodges and parry if you're good enough though.

Yeah same here I think. I can't get on with rogue lites either.
