Famous last words, but I think I'll stay strong and wait for it to hit the bargain bin later on in the year. Elden Ring and Witch Queen is already more than enough for now...

Yeah I'm probably going to hold off for a bit. I'm still pretty obsessed with Sifu which will see me through to GT7 I think.

Quite funny seeing EG's no recommendy on the list in between some pretty positive scores on opencritic. I think Malindy is the EG reviewer I most consistently disagree with, so I'll probably love this. IGN 9 / 10 Eurogamer No Recommendation GamesRadar+ 4.5 / 5 Metro GameCentral 8 / 10 Game Informer 9.3 / 10 GameSpot 8 / 10 Destructoid 8.5 / 10 Game Revolution 9 / 10 Incidentally, she's the one I agree with most. and seeing as I didn't care much for the first game, I'm not surprised here. Will still buy it as the graphics whore I am.

Tempted because of shininess, but my currently third attempt to play the first one is not going well.
One thing that bothers me is that, in the 20 hours or so I’ve played of the first game, there is not a single character that has even a modicum of wit. There’a not one line of dialogue that isn’t completely dull.

I liked the story but the interactions with the NPC's definitely needed a little more time in the oven. Apparently from the few reviews I've read, the sequel fixes this.

Just read the EG review and eeesh. Sounds. Not great. I might wait for a sale as well now. Other than the new weapons, it doesn't sound like they improved much from the last game. The bit where she mentioned that the moment an enemy spots you, the entire camp knows your location... that was a big complaint of mine with the first game. You couldn't just walk from one location to the next. If a dinobot sees you, you're in a big fight with everything in the area. That, and the writing was dull. Meh.
It looks so shiny though.

Yeah I'm probably going to hold off for a bit. Digital Foundry - "the visuals on display are simply phenomenal."

Pre ordered this along with Elden and GT7 with my gameshare bro, but is there really any point starting it a week before Elden Ring launches? I'm quite happy to just keep playing Sifu and wrc 10 until Elden unlocks.
Yes I realise I've just answered my own question. As you were ladies and gentlemen, and non binary and whoever else I've missed out.

How you finding WRC10 on the wheel? I actually haven't tried it yet. Was going to setup last night, but as usual, life finds a way to fuck you over. Maybe tonight.

It's what Sifu would have wanted.

I realized after the Digital Foundry comparison that all reviews and performance mode do not do justice to the graphics. After the digital foundry comparison there is no denying that it looks absolutely incredible.
Will still wait for a discount though, Elden Ring will keep me happy for many months to come.

Imagine how good the proper version will look when it hits the PC in 18 months or so.

Just read EG’s review and the DF article. Interesting that they’ve locked the review comments… I can’t be bothered to read them all, but I guess it was getting a bit out of hand there…?
Anyway, I’ve pre-ordered the Special Edition and am definitely keeping it. Can’t wait.
It helps that the first game was one of my highlights of the last console generation. Yes, some the NPC conversations were a bit janky, but the story was great and fighting robots never got old. A thoroughly enjoyable Platinum and 100% on the DLC too, so I’m definitely ready for more.
DF seem a lot more positive, as does most of the rest of the gaming press, so I’ll take that.
Much as I still enjoy reading Eurogamer, I can’t think of a single reviewer they have whose tastes reliably align with my own. I miss the Kristan Reed and Tom Bramwell days…

I think they've locked comments overnight a few times recently to give the Filipino (?) paid mod a chance to sleep.

Watched the easy allies review and it’s something I will definitely pick up sooner than later. Havn’t read the Eg review but felt the first one was on point even though I really enjoyed playing the first by it end time. The combat was really fun, and this seems more of the same. But yeah, with Elden ring out next week… think I will go with that one.

The first one left me cold, I don’t feel any different about this one. Everyone has a stupid face with stupid cave man/Adam Ant crap on it and the robot shit is just weird. Might buy when it’s cheap, enjoy!

It's got cultural appropriation in the form of Zulu war paint.I'm boycotting.
In other news, I'm launching a range of culturally sensitive NFTs...

Honestly, the EG review is not about cultural appropriation. It has a brief aside about tribal warpaint or some such, but the actual criticisms, rightly or wrongly, focus on content (new weapons and enemies seemingly limited to side missions), characters and story.
Even some of the more glowing reviews seem to feature a few caveats, as always YMMV.

I have so much in the backlog but gone for this anyway, elden ring coming the following week, still struggling to find time for Pokémon as it is.
I'm not intending to go out this weekend so I'd have spent more than this if I had so not worried if I bounce off it.

Honestly, the EG review is not about cultural appropriation. It has a brief aside about tribal warpaint or some such It does come hot on the heels of a fairly chunky complaint about Sifu being made by entirely by white men, so you can see why The Gamers are riled up about it
