For those of you who feel a bit lost; I was watching a stream of the greatest player SF of all time, Daigo Umehara, learning Ken today and even he looked pretty lost too. Mistimed moves, dropped combos, lost to scrubs, etc. It’s a new game with new mechanics and brand new moves & characters so don’t beat yourself up.  I joined the FG club btw and have been doing trials and playing locals with my son, who is using JP on Modern and is terrifying. But I’ll be online a bit later to give you all headbutts and hugs from cuddly old Honda. |

Before Jambo battered me I beat another Ken 5-2 and every fight went to the wire. Great tense fun.

Somehow I’ve been placed in Platinum 4.. not sure how that happened.
Although to be fair Honda is almost easy mode in this game. His headbutt is just shockingly good.

What controller setup do you guys go for on a standard PS5/Xbox pad?
Since growing up on a 6-button Mega Drive pad I've always found it incredibly hard to assign any punch/kick button to a shoulder button/trigger as it doesn't feel natural and I struggle incorporating them into combos.
I'm a bit skint at the minute though - can't afford that OctoPad or fightstick so I'm thinking now's the time to try and get used to it.
Should I stick with the default or does anyone recommend a particular layout?

I think your placement is a combination of who you play in the placement matches and the level of experience you select when starting, with the first influencing the second.

I picked noob level. Won half my matches and got dumped in Rookie 2. Think I've just bumped to 3.

Because I've got an Elite pad, I've also bound All punches/all kicks to the paddles on the back which helps for the amped versions of moves. |

How is the Hori Octa pad for those using it? Sometimes I can't be arsed digging the fight stick out so would like a decent pad for those times.

I’ve never, ever been comfortable with pressing triggers on my left hand, which is why I can’t use regular pads very well. The Octa did help matters but even then I have issues with double taps - and man SF6 has a lot of double taps haha.

Its coming together with practice on the dualsense but when I get tired, I keep pressing the wrong trigger. When I played you I kept hitting drive impact rather than hitting hp and dropping a fat chunk of damage.

That's my biggest worry - I can't play this with an analogue stick (and envy those who can) and Drive Rush seems absolutely integral to this.

The d-pad on the dualsense is actually pretty decent, all things considered. At least it actually works, unlike the series s pad. Its no 360 pad but its probably the best standard one I can remember using in a long while.
The wingman just plopped through my door, so I will see how it compares with the mad catz fight pad tonight.

Was playing a bit in a custom room before and was having a lot of connection trouble but it smoothed out - anyone else have bother tonight?
Playing Zangief while trying to learn a hitbox type controller is definitely a trial. Good job his buttons are so good.
