It's probably been covered already, but why is it cheaper for Embracer to shut down all these studios than to sell them off, or let them go independent?

It depends on IP, studio size return on investment and all that but also it can be cheaper to close the studio down than trying to sell them or the studio can't afford to go independent. They sold Gearbox as I imagine the sale price was a good amount.

There’s absolutely no reason I know of that is stopping someone else making a game with that sort of destruction and then attacking a half decent plot to it though.

Its little sad. Technically i never played any of those games but owe Gothic 1 to 3 and risen 1 on dvds.
They were prime example of eurojunk games but they did have lots of fans.

I think there comes a point where you have to acknowledge that the 2bn in Saudi money wouldn't have been enough for this operation to exist they're just incredibly badly run.

Its good 4A games (metro games) is still going but still owned by embracer twats. When I saw the story yesterday, was hoping 4A managed to escape from embracer
