I thought the price was a joke when you look at all the IP's they've bought. 300 million sounds like a quick firesale - Enix being Enix.

At that price I'm surprised it's not MS or Sony buying them.
Over 50 titles included.

Tomb Raider on its own has to be worth more than 300m, surely?
I'd be happy to get some more Soul Reaver and Commando games though!

That seems like an absolute bargain. Hopefully the new overlords don't have unattainable sales expectations and actually do more with it than just reboot Tomb Raider for the 10th time.

Enix also running out of companies and IP to blame for their woes.

They will blame them 1 last time and say this sale didn't meant expectations

Embracer Group have proven themselves to be pretty good when it comes preserving games and getting them to run on older systems. I think they're in good hands, but I don't know about budgets though.

It'd be nice to see new Thief and Deus Ex games.
Shame the studio that made Sleeping Dogs went under a while back - they deserved a shot at making a sequel.

Embracer paid more for Aspyr than all of these studios and IP lol.

Square Enix are so incompetent I wouldn't trust them to tie their shoelaces, 300 million for just the IP would be cheap.

Time for Gex 4, baby! who are Embracer though? They publish under the brand THQ Nordic, they have a shit ton of IP they've bought over the years

They've done right by Saints Row and Darksiders, so they're okay with me.

They've been quietly and not so quietly hoovering up devs and IP for a while now, they've obviously got a lot of money backing up their acquisitions.

This deal does seem to make Sony's for Bungie seem almost overpriced. It's a ridiculous amount of IP that could earn a shitload if said publisher doesn't actually try to make all of their games a GaaS.

I reckon a big reason for Sony's purchase was to get Bungie's expertise at running a live service game successfully, rather than specific IP.

All those sweet Destiny microtransactions must be pretty tasty as well. I think 3 bills for Bungie is insane as well, but Destiny really does print money, much like Final Fantasy XIV for Square and WoW and Overwatch for Blizzard.

I immediately thought about an open-world Tomb Raider game with Lara exploring a ruin-riddled jungle, Horizon Forbidden West / Far Cry 2 vibes.
We’re also due for another good Deus Ex game, if the “every odd-numbered one is good” trend continues.

Apparently Square kept Just Cause, Outriders, and Life Is Strange - Embracer nabbed the rest.
I can see them banking on Outriders 2 being a success, and the Life Is Strange games certainly seem to have their audience, but I'd've thought Just Cause would be one of the first to go.

I believe the rest are publishing deals as opposed to owning the IP or devs so there's less cost involved where they actively have to pay for a studios upkeep.

Just Cause could actually be good, if it were ever made in… a way that was good.
Not like that Deus Ex. Ugh.
