Does the Thief IP include the old games? What I would give to have them on the Ps5. Just high resolution, don't need anything else.

I've read they're planning to get a lot of old games touched up in order to be playable on current hardware to fill the income gap until the studios start releasing games

With my nostalgia for PS1 era Square that would have made me very happy but they seem extremely far away from their peak now although I am happy they've found success with online FF.
I'd be more interested in Sony buying Embracer.

Embracer Group is one of the most creepy and subversive names I've ever heard

I'm still really excited for Final Fantasy XVI. More than any other game, really. And VII Remake Episode I was my favorite game on PS4, so I'm optimistic about Episode II also. But yeah, losing their Eidos studios is a huge blow.

Not for them as their games 'underperformed'.

Unless I'm being forgetful, I don't give much of a shit about Sqenix apart from Dragon Quest.

I know I’m late to this but £300m seems like bargain for Tomb Raider alone considering what the tech market has been like recently.
Now where are my Gex and Soul Reaver reboots?!

I loved the modern Deus Ex games despite their flaws so very much hoping for more.

What a shit show. Normal to work on a verbal agreement for nearly 8 months?
Good for Dead Island 2 though which had just about everything going against it.

That wasn’t the descriptive you used when another multi-billion deal recently hit roadblocks.
Not sure what actually fell through here though. They haven’t really said and seem blindsided by it, so… difficult to draw any kind of conclusion.

Might be Amazon? They had been working on some Tomb Raider-related deal with them. Or maybe not. I don't really have any idea what I'm talking about, but I would like the whole thing to fall through and for them to sell the IP off to another studio.

Err, so do they own Eidos, or just Tomb Raider?

I think they own pretty much all of the studios that were owned by Eidos at one point. This group will come crashing down soon. Their call to wring the Lord of the Ring IP dry are proof of that.

The Saudis killed it? Someone must have told them the deal was a journalist.

Whatever their long term plan was, I'm pretty sure their string of acquisitions will just be their downfall. They have lots of developers to pay at the moment, and their big IP games so far (which is really just Gollum and Saints Row) have been more miss than hit.
When the crashing down inevitably happens, I hope the individual studios will be able to go back to independence.

It’ll be a nice bit of irony when each IP or studio they picked up from THQ needs to be sold off piecemeal again.

Well, if we do get a decent AITD game out of all this, maybe it won't have been a total failure.
Then again, what are the chances the new AITD won't be an eurojank mess of a game like Gollum? I liked the demo (the call-back to Grace from JITD and AITD2 was a great idea), but it was so short, you could barely tell anything about the game from it. In fact, I guess you could tell nothing at all.
