I’d be careful you understand what happens in NG+ before doing it - if the level recommendation is meant to ensure you have a decent ship and plenty of weapons before doing the DLC, NG+ might not be the way to go What you lose, keep and gain- You lose: all your creds, weapons and inventory, ships, quest progress You keep: starborn powers, your level and abilities You gain: a fancy space suit and ship, dialogue options in conversation you already had in your first run
I personally really like the way they did NG+ in this game. It’s a shame because I think a lot of players held off and didn’t want to do it until they’d rinsed all the side stuff, whereas I really enjoyed doing some of the side and faction stuff for the first time in NG+ and even NG++

I missed a lot in my first playthrough despite taking my time. Dare say it still has a lot of quests I've not seen.

And done. Should have been better 7/10.

If you just mainline the story maybe 4 hours. I've run it twice to see the different outcome.*
*Unfortunately not a typo.

Just don't think too hard about it once you've finished - the more you contemplate, the less you'll like it. It's already dropped to a 6 in my head.

It's £30, which is quite frankly ridiculous. I got it with the early access upgrade way back when.

Some of the side quests are decent enough.

Got the DLC for £15 from CD Keys ... which seems a fair price.

It's fun so far but Shattered Space doesn't seem to run as well as the main game since the updates.

I abandoned this as I am way below the level of the end enemies and I can't be bothered to grind out the upgrades and levels to survive more than 2 seconds against the starborn ships.
It's a hard game to score for me as I like and dislike so many different things about it. So I think I give it a 6/7/8 out of 10 depending on what I was doing.

Ship combat is a pain if you're not into upgrading. Drop the difficulty for ship combat down to very easy to get over that particular hump.

I’m several hours into Shattered Space now, and feel exactly the same as I did about the base game. It’s not that surprising, they haven’t added as much new tech / gear as I’d have liked, the quests are basically the same as anywhere else in the Starfield universe… but I’m a sucker for these games and I’m having a great time pottering about and checking off side-quests.
I did stumble on a cave that told a story via slates and enemy encounters, without being directed there - so that was great, wish they’d do more of that.

I might have to give Starfield another crack, especially with the frame rate improvements on Series X.
Despite it being the only game I was looking forward to for years, I bounced straight off it at release. Maybe I overhyped it in my mind, but I don't think so. There's just no risk/reward to the exploration like Skyrim and Fallout, if you can call loading screens exploration.
I still maintain that a Jump Sequence with random encounters when travelling to new systems would go a long way to reinstating this lost sense of exploration.

darkling that’s actually a great idea- they do have random Spacer encounters when you drop out if hyperspace, but I’d have preferred something like Elite / Elite 2 where you warp to the edge of the system and then have to fly manually to the planet you want, dealing with any pirates who intercept you on the way. (Edit: I don’t actually know if Elite Dangerous does it that way, I’m only familiar with retro Elite)

Yeah that system would work, or the jump could simply be a short time where you're confined to your ship, where you can do ship admin or sleep until you're interrupted by a friendly / hostile encounter, or find an abandoned space station, or whatever.
I didn't develop the game, but I don't think it'd be a difficult feature to retroactively bolt on.

Oh, and the weapons trader who won't talk to you until you've mostly completed the main story - she only sells non Va'ruun weapons that are readily available everywhere else in the universe and nothing unique.

The Unknown Signals and Distress Calls you can investigate when in FTL in Everspace 2 were quite good, but even with the randomisation of them it got a bit boring after a while.

I did have hopes for the dlc adding and fixing this game and coming back for a Starfield 2.0 ala CP2077 but it's not looking good...

It's definitely harder than most of the main game. A lot of the enemies are very bullet spongy.

Finished the main quest from Shattered Space. Not bad but could/should have been better. The lack of companion voice work hurts it. Especially Andreja not giving a crap about being back home or that everything's a mess. Very much reminded me of the Mass Effect DLCs in that regard.

Think I'm near the end of the main questline, this has still got the annoying bug where you lose proper audio if you die while an effect is applied. So speech and sound effects sound muffled/like you are underwater until you complete something that resets it, although so far I've got far enough to get an achievement and it still hasn't fixed it
