I meant just look for the tower poking out on the skyline without even using the scanner. That's what I ended up doing. Just... aggravated me that the quest was so misleading. It also led to me wasting a ton of time. Just kinda eroded my trust that I was being given the right instructions elsewhere, that's really the main loss for me.

Also, for idiots like me who spent ages on the first temple before I twigged, you're not looking for an anomaly on the scanner, you're looking for the scanner to start glitching. I'm blamimg a senior moment.

Partly I blame the lack of minimap but partly it's on me.

If we are going down that route, I got a ‘magnetic anomaly’ on the map, spent about an hour walking round, mined everything, looking for special opening event etc. turns out that was just a randomly generated thing and the slight wibble in the scanner circle was pointing elsewhere (the real place).

Aren't there mods to make it better? They've never been particularly good at designing UI.

I did a romance. Gotta say, newly betrothed was kind of full-on in the dialogue choices, don’t think this is exactly a casual thing. Now I’m faced with the age-old RPG scenario of - do I stay true to my character’s role and be nice and monogamous, or bin them off at the earliest opportunity just because I want to see everything in the game.

It seemed to take forever to actually initiate the relationship, but the moment you do she's asking if her mum should come to the wedding or not. I'm just in it for the extra 5% XP, love. Calm the fuck down! Major story spoiler!!! I lost Andreja in the lodge attack (I went to the eye while that was happening), so don't really have a whole lot of options for romance unless I want to swing the other way. If I'd known what was going to happen I would've totally sacrificed Sam and his annoying fuckwit kid instead.

BG3 remains the only game I've ever been successful romantically in. Not for want of trying either. Or want of playing- completed Starfield, ME1, ME2, Dragon Age series etc.
I've just over time come to terms that I'm generally undesirable.
Apart from the githyaki who I'm beating off with a shitty stick.

Can see myself dropping this soon. With the space stuff largely reduced to being a glorified menu the game feels largely reduced to following major quests since the planets are just randomly generated outposts etc plopped about with a fetch quest if you're lucky. Trouble is the major quests are all also largely uninteresting as well. I did the Freestar stuff last night and it was ok but it feels like Bethesda just don't put much stock in unique areas or encounters that much any more. I saw some comparisons to Oblivion when the game came out but I'm just not really seeing it.

Honestly, I think the more I find out about this game the more anxiety inducing it is.

*Do* you need the building though? That's one of my both issues and things I'm happy with with the game. The outpost stuff I cannot be fucked with, but it's also a shame that it's seemingly completely pointless because I am swimming in credits anyway so why would I have an outpost to farm credits when I can just... buy everything I need.

It's totally optional. I'd say even more so than Fallout 4, as it doesn't really push you to try it. I haven't touched it, anyway. Never felt short on cash.
Similarly haven't touched ship config. Just get one from the mantis questline, then buy an all singing all dancing one later on when you're swimming in credits. I looked at the parts upgrade menu once and then never looked back. Ship combat isn't exactly hard, so it's not like you need more firepower.

Even better, do the Freestar quest after and get an even betterer ship
Which helps on hard mode because the space combat does not feel like it was balanced at all

I don’t think anyone’s building connected outposts to farm credits, it has to be it’s own reward.
I have built one outpost, it was going to be my temporary home base, but there’s just not enough storage for all the resources I’ve gathered. And I haven’t put any points into outpost skills either, I can’t see the point in any of them until I’m actively looking for something to pass the time and want to build a proper base.
Slightly related, I saw someone on Twitter suggest that the infinite storage boxes at the Lodge might be bugged, and might get patched, and what happens to all the stuff in them if it goes over the new limit? I think it would be safe, based on the fact that ship cargo can exceed the limit when you switch, you just can’t add anything else until you’re back under. But it was a bit of a worry- I’d be mortified if all my crafting stuff just vanished.

Speaking of outpost storage. If you don't mind building your outpost near an existing structure then the chests/boxes on the little storage tanks and whatnot you see dotted around by themselves are also bottomless.

If you swap to a ship with less storage than stuff currently held by your current one, that's what happens.

So can anyone give me a pointer about the supply missions? I've tried on Google but they all talk about what I've already done, I'm thinking it glitched?
I need to supply X amount of Aluminium to this random NPC base somewhere. So I built an outpost in the same system, put down a harvester and built a supply link. I linked the Supply Link to the NPC base and immediately a supply ship landed. I then linked the harvester output to the Supply Link outgoing container, though I think I should have done that before.
Then because the outgoing container was still filling up I switched missions and forgot about it for a while. I also saved/reloaded and rebooted e few times after that.
Now the mission is stuck at 0 resources delivered, the supply ship is gone, the link is still established, the outgoing container is full at 600 I believe and, well, nothing happens. Did I glitch the mission out or do I need to request a new supply ship somehow? I've already tried unlinking and relinking...

Whoa, I have one of those missions and I was expecting I’d be able to drop it off in instalments, or maybe just get a ship with over 5000 cargo space. I wasn’t even thinking of doing it via the outpost supply transfer.

Have to say its one of the most "mid" game, I've about 2 days worth of play time in. I knew it would feel of Todd howard's lies and BS. It just easy to play but under better studio it could of been one best games. Modders will make it better but that seems to be the thing with the studio's games - modders will fix it or stuff that should of been there in the first place
I like this (slight spoiler for the UC faction, nothing major)

Completed the main quest. Started ng plus but won’t be going any further.
Gave it around 60 hours. Afraid I got a bit bored. It’s got potential to be amazing but feels so old in its mechanics and systems, which can be ok with a Bethesda game as you know what you are getting. But it seems to lack the magic of exploration from the other titles. I tend to like pottering around in random places I find, and that element isn’t as good in this imo
Will definitely revisit once it’s been patched up and mods are available (on console. Still got loads of side stuff to do, but moving on for now.

I also completed it last night and did the very start of a NG+. I'm 26 hours in and level 32. I've enjoyed it and will probably continue for a bit, but I ended up just bashing through the last few missions really.
It was very much a faff of remembering which buttons to press on a PC to use the menus, it felt inconsistent. Also if you asked me which planet a certain city was on (Akila, Neon), I wouldn't be able to go to a map and show you... because I was always pressing L to bring up missions, then pressing X to warp there. For me, part of exploration is semi-remembering the map and bumping into things along the way. That rarely happened for me because the game was so geared towards fast travel. Part of the joy of Skyrim was remembering my favourite ways between certain locations. Also I never had to worry about ship fuel or anything...
Other minor not-really-whinges include the fact I used the same gun for almost the entire 2nd half of the game (some heavy particle beam shotgun which one or two-shotted most things, and took about four shots for a Starborn). Also I got so overwhelmed with the number of locked safes in the latter game I just couldn't be bothered to open them all - the lockpicking game was good but required almost too much brain power at times and took too long for the higher-level ones. So I probably missed out on some amazing loot.
Great game overall though and I'll definitely keep dipping in until Forza or (whisper it) the new Assassin's Creed game comes out.

Yeah, I just found a gun I liked and stuck with it for most of the game. Ember that you get by going a little off piste on the Ryujin quest just shredded everything, so there was little point in changing up.
Getting back to certain places if I didn't have a mission there usually involved checking each system on the map with the little icon that I presume means there's a settlement. I can find my way back to Akila now, but anywhere else is a fumbling mess.
I've switched to a laser rifle that I got on the last story mission now just to keep things a bit interesting. It's still keeping me fairly invested mind you, as there's loads of shit I didn't even touch during my 50ish hours before finishing.

This game is sooooooo irritating in so many ways.
- Menus - Constantly hitting some kind of inventory/cargo limit, which is exacerbated by the menus - Loading screens - Maps, maps, maps, maps - Quest padding... just had one where I was told go to Mars to meet someone, but first you MUST go to New Atlantis to inform someone you are going to go to Mars. Telephones don't seem to exist. Exacerbated by loading screens and maps maps maps
Urghhh I hate it. It's objectively crap in so many ways. But somehow I'm still playing it?!
