I'm really having a great time with Crime Scene Cleaner, though I'm worried that I'm perhaps a little too good at this job, might be time to consider a career change.
More seriously, this is one of the better Simulator types games that I've played in recent memory, it's also got a dark sense of humor that really works for me.

I've been going through Undead Nightmare, as I never played it when it was first released. I think it's a nice spin on the main game. A little bit frustrating having to source for ammo, which I suppose is keeping in with the zombie survival aspect.
Kind of fool on me though, as even at £25 it seems a tad too much, for what little effort they put into this. It's nice at 60fps, but still a bit jarring due to texture pop-in.

Dead Cells on steam deck. Such a good, quick pick up and play game. Sleep and resume. I played this loads when chilling at night on holiday, I've still never beaten the final boss but then again I've never looked at guides or synergies or anything because I just liked going in and wailing on enemies. All that changed last week when I actually started paying attention the game rather than just playing with my brain off and I was just stacking red scrolls and had a full red load out. Duh! So yeah, I'm loving this game all over again because I'm understanding it more.
Diablo 4, level 37 Brian (sweaty hairy druid) and I'm building towards the capstone. In no rush, season is long. I'm just enjoying picking it when I get some free time for longer than a dead cells run.
When I get even longer to play then I'm all over Dragons Dogma 2. It has weird emergent gameplay that I love. Like finding an explosive barrel next to water coming through rocks. So I huffed it into the rocks and it a barrage of water gushed forward and washed most of my party downhill along with a giant troll that was hiding in some rocks. Now, this might be what was supposed to happen but because I was blindly off doing my own thing I probably missed the instruction so it felt natural and awesome.

I'm playing Minecraft again, because I'm getting tired of answering "I don't know" and "I don't remember" to the daily questions a friend has been asking since her son started playing it a while ago. It's been at least 12 years and I mostly played it while it was still in beta, so I have no clue about a lot of things.
Well, first I had to rebuy it, because Microsoft are pricks and nuked all the old accounts at some point. First time I've used the Microsoft store and dear god it's awful.
But the game is nice. I started in a jungle biome and built a little tower, did some mining, went exploring on a boat for a while. It also looks quite nice with a fancy texture pack and the RTX gubbins turned on (though the process of getting it to work on your own worlds felt a bit 2003).

GTA III but super modded.
I bought keys for the OG Trilogy the other day as i'd been dithering about it but rewatching a few more playthroughs made me crumble. I've got 4 modpacks for GTA3 but i settled on one updated from a streamer's 2 year old list. I'll be playing GTA Vice City ReViced next. Then San Andreas but i'm not sure what modpack i want for that one. Then GTA IV with not that many mods.
I'd forgotten how annoying some of the missions for GTA 3 are but i'm having fun regardless.

Whoops, plopped this: I started Fallout 76 yesterday.
It seems ok so far. I already stayed up later than I should have last night, so it must be scratching the wasteland roaming itch a bit.
in the 'recently completed' thread, by mistake.

I think they merged the mojang accounts into Microsoft accounts. Didn't know there was a deadline to move it or lose it though.
[edit] Sept 2023 apparently. Bit of a dick move to make people buy it again. I wonder if contacting Mojang support would work. On the plus side you do get both Java and Bedrock.

That's a good point - I would have had to buy Bedrock eventually anyway, since they wanted to show me their world and they're console peasants. But still a bit annoying.

I’ve been meaning to start a new save for pretty much this reason too. My niece and nephew are both starting to tap away at it and I’m the only one with any recent gaming experience so the questions have been coming and I haven’t played it for any amount of time since I had my Xbox360.

dunno if anyone else gets motion sickness from fps - i get it from some but not all, but Minecraft is my fucking nemesis. Nothing else comes close. Zero to vomit in under ten minutes every time.

Oddly, I started getting weird little moments of vertigo since getting a monitor with a refresh rate of 165hz. Jumping/falling off tall stuff in games triggers it. Only ever lasts half a second, but it never happened when playing the same stuff at lower refresh on the previous monitor.

Breath of the Wild
Still brilliant. Haven't been playing as much as I'd like so only a few hours in - just got to Kakariko. Need new glasses and reading on the Switch's small screen is headache inducing
So far my amiibo has given me a pair of trousers, a soldiers claymore, 5 fire arrows, 5 ice arrows and a load of meat (of unknown origin). It's pretty exciting and well worth the money I paid
Fire Emblem Engage
Even less time than I'd like and worse headaches
Mario Wonder
A 2D Mario that's not NSMB and it's just great not knowing what to expect. Elephant Mario is so random. No headache and I only stopped playing because the battery on the Switch died

Increased FoV usually solves my Quake-Induced Motion Sickness when it rears its head. Headbob is another culprit that I always turn off immediately (Minecraft is very bad at this, and it was worse than I remembered).
It's a bit weird that I don't suffer much in games, because I get nauseous in cars and buses all the time.

minimatt Have you tried to increase the FOV setting in video options? oh i've tried absolutely everything over the years, FOV and - as skalpadda notes - headbob can sometimes mitigate but after so many games and so many years i've still not really narrowed a cause down
some engines seem more problematic than others - the Portal and Half Life games will see nausea start in an hour or so. Bioshocks and Prey too. The Dishonoreds & modern Dooms playable up to about 4 hours
but thousands upon thousands of hours in various Battlefields, Destiny are fine. As is Deus Ex and all the 3d Fallouts
Minecraft tho. Fucking Minecraft...

I have been trying to play King Arthur - Knight's Tale, a top-down turn-based tactics RPG with some strategy/management elements. I have invested quite a few hours and have had more or less constant performance trouble that seems to be independent of whatever settings I'm actually using. These kinds of troubles seem to be somewhat common, but neither players nor developers have figured out a way to deal with it.
Looking at the Task Manager the game doesn't utilize the CPU much and while there is a lot of GPU utilization it drops down to 30 % or so after a few minutes. I don't even need to enter a mission, it's enough to stay in the main menu and the world map behaves the same way.

MGS 5 (PS5)
Never played this at the time and it's interesting coming to it after playing (and loving) Death Stranding. You can see the DNA of DS here in many aspects, particularly the structuring of the missions and the way new gear and abilities are slowly doled out. MGS5 has more in the way of "traditional" gameplay, of course. It's basically a large stealth sandbox with heaps of cool toys to use and many different approaches made viable. I'm really enjoying it so far. D-Dog is adorable.

Damn, that sucks. We've had a player at our LAN parties that had something similar, especially the HL2 engine did them in quickly, but when they increased the FOV there, it was much better.
The only case I had myself was with Jazzpunk, but that was due to input lag. I got sick within 30 minutes up to the point of puking.
Maybe it's a combination of multiple things for you, FOV and monitor refresh rate / input lag. Would be interesting to see if you could play HL2 on an old CRT Screen with increased FOV in settings and a cabled mouse/keyboard.
Could also be a mild form of epilepsy maybe, and it being a reaction to harsh lighting/color contrasts. But I guess you would have the same experience with movies, then, so probably not.

Rise of tomb raider.
It's funny how many of the so called ruins have fully operating systems like water wheels, pulleys, and counterweights.
While my garden fence needs to be repainted every few years otherwise it will rot to a mush
Also Lara is a menace. All that stuff survived hundreds of years and she comes over and everything collapses, she smashes things with her axe or just pulls down with her rope arrows. I think those tombs will be ready to be turned into parking lots or supermarkets after she raids them.

I mean, the whole notion of a "tomb raider" smacks of colonialist bullshit no? What gives her the right to do any of the bullshit she does?

I'm now four hours or so into Rise of the Ronin, and...
[pauses for dramatic effect]
[realises that no-one gives a shit]
[feels sad]
... It's good. Not *very* good, and certainly not *great*, but good all the same.
Combat is fun. More simplistic than that of the Niohs, Wo Long, and Stranger of Paradise (so far, at least), but it's still Team Ninja melee combat, and those guys n' gals don't know how to make bad fighting mechanics.
The world's pretty Ubisoft-y, albeit with less icon vomit on the map.
Riding around on my goofy-looking horse, petting cats and unlocking fast-travel points, is quite soothing.

Faeria continues to be.. ok-ish. I can't work out how much of it is strategy, and how much is just playing the best card you have at the time. There are a bunch of cards with different effects, but I feel a bit like I'm using the same strategy every match.
Been playing the singleplayer, but gave it a go against a real human last night to see if that added anything. Made it a bit more unpredictable, but generally seemed to play out in the same way.
It's a nice enough low energy time waster, but not sure it has much depth (or I'm just missing it)

Soon I'm gonna be so fit that you guys will all be jealous!

Finally had a proper chance to no-life Unicorn Overlord for an afternoon yesterday thanks to the shitty weather. Not my usual cuppa, but it's bloody excellent when it gets going! Story is decent enough, combat graphics are nice (although often skipped now). The sheer number of possible formations and tactics that you can fiddle around with is just mind boggling. I've been fairly lucky and have steamrolled my way through most fights with a few tried and tested unit combos, but it's getting to a point where I need to really start poring over ever little detail before a battle now.
Also dipping back into Vampire Survivors for a few daily cheevos. It's quite fun going back to basic characters and limited weapons in adventure mode compared to just melting everything thanks to thousands of eggs for each character in the main game.

My partner has been playing Cult of the Lamb on Xbox this week and I believe the game has hardlocked at least once every time she’s booted it up. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the game, but that seems to have achieved nothing.
Was it always this buggy? I think she’s seen at least 7 crashes and in one case couldn’t advance beyond the main menu on one attempt yesterday.

I'm trudging through Miasma Chronicles, a game very much resembling Mutant Year Zero, made by the same guys. The internet is right, I've been outnumbered in every single mission so far, it's like 10-15 guys against my 3. BUT, it's so addictive, and satisfying when I somehow manage to defeat the enemy - oftentimes with just a single one of my group still alive. The setting is pretty grim, post-apocalyptic world with various monsters and factions, and the story is semi-interesting. Like its predecessor, the game wants me to use stealthy approach and throw stuff on the ground to lure out a single enemy and kill them, although it doesn't always work as intended. Hopefully I'll finish this one unless it annoys me too much with its difficulty (dread to think what the final mission is like). If it does, I'll just watch the ending on YT
