Oh man. Fez is one of the greatest games ever.
I was fairly unimpressed by the world spinning platforming beyond a “Ooh that is a neat idea” but the later more in depth puzzles completely hooked me.

Warzone. I think I’m the only EG’er who plays it but it’s genuinely been great throughout. It needs some new content and they often fuck the balancing but I only play occasionally and it’s been fine. I’m a bit shit so I seldom get cheaters in my lobby. Really looking forward to Battlefield but I loved this. I played a lot of Warzone last Summer with 2 chums and it was some of the most fun I've had gaming in years. I suppose Battle Royales are always better at the beginning: everyone is still learning the ropes, fewer cheaters and the novelty of it. Lockdown helped too. We tried to go back to it a few months ago, played 2 or 3 games and uninstalled, the skill gap was just too great. I'm mostly playing Tropico 6 & the odd game of Apex Legends. I also started Octopath Traveller on Friday, I think it's the first JRPG I've played since Golden Sun on the GBA SP!

Exactly my experience too, amazing design. Whereas Skyward Sword for all it's cool visuals and temples, doesn't reward you with a sense of exploration and adventure, despite being in the bloody clouds.. It does as much as any other Zelda game has
Not to me, hunting out islands in Wind Waker was awesome. I hoped for the same or better in SS but didn't get it..

Getting the itch to start another Dark Souls playthrough again. There's a good chance that's what I'll be doing tonight (if I'm still feeling up to it by then).

I know what you mean, and I feel that a bit now. Used to get a win every week and they're rarer than rocking horse shit now. The SBMM just doesn't work that well. It's true what you say though, when it works it's glorious. There's also been a lot of really shit evenings where I've got beaten like a rented mule for six hours straight though.

I used to play loads Mac but the cheaters have ruined it for me. Pretty much everyone I know has stopped playing until they sort it as well now. It's a situation of their own creating though, they have ignored it for ages without anything other than the occasional we banned 50k players knowing full well they would just create a new account. I think being a bit shit helps ensure that cheaters aren't often in my lobbies. Think I average a 0.8KD and I don't see them often. Activision have been a shit show at sorting the anti-cheat though. I'm not sure why you'd taken a golden egg and let people smear it in shit repeatedly. A new map and a decent anti-cheat and it would not have to worry about its player base. As it is I feel like everyone's looking at Apex or waiting for Battlefield.

For the King was my most played freebie from EGS, unfortunately found it very frustating in later stages and never completed. It is incredibly addictive though in the "just one more try" way. Currently tinkering with PS2/PS3 emulation, also revisitng GTA San Andreas (PC) with mods, because ... nostalgia. I think I made the final dungeon last night but unfortunately didn't have enough godsbeard and was maybe a tad underprepared. The chaos on the map ramps up, making it tricky to get there nicely kitted out. Giving some of the other modes a try now as I need a break from the main story mode.

I play WZ from time to time and do believe it has some of the best gameplay in any game, ever.
The only reason people slag it off is because they are crap at it.
Couple of my mates play it and one of them is insanely good. He’s this 35 year professional racing driver who seems to have ridiculous reactions and a head for strategic thinking. It’s such a clever mans game, I think. You can go in guns blazing or work as a squad, have a strategy etc.
The gunplay is leaps and bounds above most FPS games, and is one of the reasons why I thought Back4Blood was so poor and lightweight.
Anyway, I’m still mostly a single player type gamer. Currently really enjoying Doom Eternal; can’t believe it’s only £13. Bargain.

You aren't wrong Mac, the last map reboot was a terrible idea, it stayed fresh for about 3 days. Your kd is about the same as mine mate, I was over 1 at one point but I started playing with someone who is quite a bit better than me and his lobbies are hard as hell (and full of cheats).

Have you tried Apex Legends? Always room for one more if you're interested. Can't promise it will be anything like BC2 but it's not bad

It becomes a proper detective-based metroidvania. The best puzzles are the ones you solve with a cup of tea in hand, rather than the contoller.

Mega Man 9 Haven't had much trouble with this. Just a bit stuck on Plug Man and Magma Man because I've decided beating them with anything other than the buster is too casual
Skyward Sword
Just finished the mines - they utilised the gust jar thing in some really interesting ways. Still better than BotW

Thanks for this, your post gave me motivation to push on for another hour or so, but ehh I actually kinda hate it. The game makes me feel both dumb & lazy (maybe I am both, but I don’t want to be reminded of if whilst trying to relax) and I super dislike the world turning mechanic, and the collect 8 cube bits in each section rather than just progressing from one area to the next. Just not my thing I guess, but I can’t remember the last time I had such a strong negative reaction to a game

Well you gave it a good go. It certainly is pretty simple in that regard, initially, but the game does become increasingly complex and before too long.
But you shouldn't have to wade through an experience you don't like just to get to the juicy bits.

Picked up Psychonauts 2 last night so now got Neo The World Ends With You, Quake, Hades and that on the go and only about an hour a day to play them all. FOMO and excitement at three games I’d been waiting for all arriving at once got the better of me. Plus a sweet nostalgia hit.

Recently platinumed Immortals: Fenyx Rising which I thought was brilliant and not too grindy open world cluttered map like typical ubisoft games. When I got PS5 I bought Ghost of Tsushima but gave up on it after a few hours due to open world fatigue of completing Creed Odyssey just before it.
Now gone back on to it and absolutely loving it. Funny how having a break from a game can make you love it more when you return. That's my Nobu

I also thoroughly enjoyed my time with Immortals - one of the few big open world games that didn’t feel like a chore to Platinum.
I did get the season pass, but have only played the first expansion so far - “A New God”.
It’s good but mainly consists of lots more Vaults, of increasing scale, scope and complexity. Some are great and some are quite frustrating. Your mileage may vary.
I must get back to it to do the other two DLCs.

I also liked Fenyx enough to Platinum it. (Couldn’t be bothered with the DLC though).

I looked at the DLC afterwards and decided to pass. The vaults were the weakest aspect I thought. The rest looks meh as well so I was happy with core game.

I've just spent a merry few hours on the Riders Republic beta, and I'm pretty impressed. I liked Steep, but only for short blasts because it was a bit empty without much game to it. RR seems to fix that, with tonnes going on and lots of live players filling your bit of the world. The hourly 64-player mass races are fun, there are three rounds of each, and each round sees you swapping between bikes, skis, wingsuits and rocket-powered skis at certain points in the race. Managed to come third in one round, which felt like a bit of an achievement with 61 other people chasing you down.
The world is massive, it's very pretty and the handling of the bikes feels pretty sweet. The tricks aren't as satisfying as they should be – sort of like Steep. Tempted to buy it because I know how much I dipped in and out of Steep when I needed some brainless distraction…

Currently playing Deadly Premonition - kinda having a love/hate thing with it, and just read a massive spoiler while Googling how to get a particular weapon. Tempted to just knock it on the head tbh

There are a few mysteries in Deadly Premonition though. It is unlikely you have had everything spoiled.

Not quite sure how to reply without either confirming or denying that statement. So be aware the next statement is a spoiler!!! Yes you do fight George. I am not telling you why though . There are 2 main revelations in the game and the second is completely unrelated. I personally found the other one far more interesting.

You're a star, thanks so much Okay, I'm going to preserve then! Have to say I am loving it so much, the atmosphere is superb and it reminds me so much of Twin Peaks, but man, the exploration/driving is a pain huh

Been playing Elite Dangerous a good month now and hooked. Very addictive when you get the hang of it all. Other games have took a back seat since started.

Been playing A Hat in Time. Very good 3D platformer, particularly given that it is an indie. (Not quite up there with Mario or Astrobot but is honestly far better than I expected, and that is even with the praise I have seen for it).
Only criticism I have is the camera. It seems to be a worse version of Mario Sunshine’s. (In fact I think Sunshine was the main inspiration for this game).
Also it is currently in an eShop sale, hence why I am playing it at the moment.

Bioshock 2. Not enjoying it as much as Bioshock 1. Its harder, too similar to the last and I'm not enjoying being a Big Daddy. However, there are plenty of splicers to kill, so I'm soldering on. I'm actually pleased its supposedly shorter that BS1 as I am finding it depressing.
