TF2 campaign is brilliant, easily in my top 5 fps campaigns.
Out of interest, what are the others?

How are you doing with that now? Taking to it more? I haven't started it yet. I will though. I want to do it before Redfall comes out so I'm up to date with Arkane's stuff. And then Titanfall 2 Ah. I thought you weren't getting on with it. Must have been someone else. Did retro74 try it and not like it? Someone wasn't keen on it. The maniac. Prey was fantastic too.

Ooh would have to really think about it to list them. I know instantly this would be there though along with the half life games.

I think the gaming snob in me equates "FPS campaigns" with the kind of low-effort dreck the CoD and Battlefield devs churn out (when they can be bothered - looking at you, Black Ops 4 and 2042!), so I'm genuinely curious as to what else is out there.
That's how I came to ask about Titanfall 2 in the first place, actually - it's the highest-rated FPS on PS4, according to Metacritic.*
* I'm ignoring Overwatch, as it lacks a campaign.

Some of the CoD campaigns are fantastic, though? Some of my favourite gaming moments in them in fact. Don’t be a snob. Battlefield I’ll grant you though. Titanfall 2 is one of this campaigns that really lives in the memory. Quite a lot condensed into a relatively short time. All of it gold. Edit: worth noting that the people that made TF2 were largely the people that made the earlier CoD games, too!

Phattso I probably should've qualified that by specifying the recent CoD games, as I understand some of the older titles had very well-regarded campaigns attached! (So did one of the newer ones, come to think of it.)
Honestly, I'm not in the best position to judge - I don't play FPSs, and I'm not a fan of the first-person perspective in general, so I tend to be very selective indeed when it comes to games of that ilk.

The Metro games are suppose to be good (also got those to play), the modern Wolfenstein games are quite heavy on story (maybe too much), Dooms

Metro and Wolfenstein both good shouts for FPS games too.
I get what Frog is saying with Half-life, its not that level for me but it's very good.
Singularity is an underrated FPS as well.

The recent modern warfare campaigns are excellent!

Cold War was also excellent, with a new structure and some replay ability worked on there. You can accuse them of being many things, but lazy tacked on campaigns? With a couple of notable exceptions: nope.

I really like CoD WWII. Felt like playing HBO’s Band of Brothers.
Didn’t play Vanguard, but it isn’t regarded too highly.

I just find military stuff boring, unless there's aliens or monsters

Vanguard's is a bit poop as it doesn't flow well due to a few strange choices regarding the characters and structuring.

I'll hold my hand up and admit that I may have got this one wrong Just for balance I pretty much agree with you. I haven't enjoyed a COD campaign since the first couple. I've never really understood the outpouring of love this gets either. It's alright.

You have to play it now just to see which camp you fall in to.

Head to the marker, spray gun, do a cutscene thing, head to the next marker, blah blah TF2 campaign is great though. Well worth it. And it's pretty short.

Yeah, the TF2 singleplayer campaign is excellent.
I will say that I wasn't sold on the first level or two.. which I guess was kinda the tutorial... and it seemed to be a generic modern 'shoot generic enemy military grunts with lots of basically similar generic machine guns' game.
But after a level or two things start to get much more creative and fun.

Speaking as someone who hates modern shooters, TF2 was surprisingly and genuinely good. I wouldn't put it in my Top 5, but it's not even on the same planet as the worthless shite that is the Battlefield campaigns. I don't mind the short length either, I thought it was just right. I'm glad it didn't fall into the "more = better" trap like so many games do, instead giving you an unpadded, condensed ride that doesn't overstay its welcome.

TF2 for me is also one of the best fps campaigns. No idea how anyone rates cod campaigns, sure it has the spectacle but the gameplay is especially and shooting range due to the a.i. being so so poor. I'll admit I did enjoy going through the original MW2 in co op on the hardest setting for the challenge of it.
As far as good fps campaigns
Half life 1&2 Doom & eternal All halo games Metro series Bioshock series Fear Crysis series
There's more I'm sure but it's what I could remember. I mean you could add the likes of Deus ex if you are playing them more like a shooter or deathloop etc.

I could never say that Halo 4 and 5 were good campaigns let alone good Halo campaigns. Infinite too, great gunplay and movement but a campaign that lacked structure, good level design and setpieces.

Keep meaning to play TF2. I've had it for years. Might actually get on it once I'm done with Dead Space.

COD 1 2 and 4 all had good campaigns, as did some Medal Of Honors - Allied Assault was excellent. RTCW was pretty great too, though eclipsed by even better multiplayer.

Fair point on 4&5, I couldn't even finish 5. Disagree regarding infinite not being great although yeah it needed more epic moments like halo 1-reach. I think reach and 3 are two of the best campaigns ever.
