I managed twenty mins yesterday and did the first part of the dungeon mission. Killed big booby snake lady and left it at the start of the next area. For all my gripes with it, it's such a fucking enjoyable game to play.

I have yet to witness big boob lady. I've no problems with any bosses yet except the first one but I'm only about six bosses down.

Yeah, I played most of the Lu Bu mission last night and stopped before the boss and it is so much fun. In general play its really satisfying and will punch you in the face if you take your eye off the ball.
Its starting to properly click now the enemies are repeating and Im actually getting the parry timings down. 'flash..wait...parry...die' is now 'flash...wait...wait..parry..kill' more often.

My parry timings are still quite abysmal but there's nothing new there. The red flash stuff is easier as that reminds me of the yokai counters from Nioh 2 which I got down pretty well by the end. Regular attack parries I suck at because I still just run in and start wailing away too much.

I am sure you know this, but make sure your agility rating is B or better. I've also seen that weapons have a rating how easy it is to deflect with them, I am not sure what determined it, though.

I had a great run last night doing all the side missions that had unlocked. This included one where I cleared the map apart from the minion boss guy and proceeded to enjoy a Benny Hill chase as I ran away from him back across the map, running around and climbing watchtowers (he will follow you up). Hit and run. It didn't look graceful, but it worked.
Then on to the next main mission, which was a decent challenge. I stopped at the boss though, as it's that bull thing and it was after 23.00. Going to have to be in the mood for that, I think.

Is the boss in the demo a good indication of the final game? As it's irritating as fuck. Was planning on picking this up when I'm finished Dead Space but I'm not sure I can be arsed with it at the minute.

Doing any damage to the bastard at all while he tries to murder you is the hard part. I was pretty good at defending against him at one point, I just didn't get any damage done. It's frustrating if you look at his health bar after what you feel is a five minute fight, and he's lost 10 percent. Have fun.  |

The few after him are much easier. It seems there are tough bosses to come - I'm about to do that bull demon, and there's Lu fucking Bu coming at some point - but I think if you are still playing by then you're in for the duration. |

He's definitely one of the toughest bosses so far, but mechanically he gives you a good indication how the game works. |

It basically a parry tutorial, he does big, well telegraphed swings for you to get the hang of batting aside. Its the core of the combat, really. But, yes, you get better and stronger as the game goes on so that is quite a hurdle to get over and progress is fairly linear from then on. |

Re: parrying. Light weapons definitely seem to have a bigger window for parrying as well. I've been using a 4* sword since the very beginning as all the other 4* weapons I have got have been slower ones and they fuck up my ability to parry. It's a bit of a shame as I have a great spear that I never use.

I didn't know that about the weapon deflecting. I'm using spears and shit so that could be why I'm struggling more. Good range though so maybe that's the trade off.

Also whoever put all those branches in the village needs a slap, no need to make places you can fall off in a safe place.
Quarry would be having a nightmare.

Im using a slashy stick but do keep an iron sword in my back pocket for when you dont need damage as much as speed and deflection (i.e. bosses).

Hub areas in general in games that have you running all over the place just to do stuff can fuck off. Just give me all the NPCs in a line in a tiny room. Yeah that’s what I’m doing. One high damage weapon for grunts and one sword for general boss fight action. In amongst the panic, I then try to remember to switch to my high damage weapon before any fatal strikes on bosses.

I tired a heavy weapon once. Just doesn't go with my style of low weight parrying etc. I'm still using a short sabre sword I got at the start of the game that's now +4.

I just picked up a lovely spear on the dungeon level so I'm using that now. I also have the tridenty looking thing but might swap that out for a sword. Although the spear does seem to be quite fast.
