I used to have a spreadsheet on my work laptop but I haven’t updated it in a few years. Anyway my top 5 was something like:
Dark Souls
Fallout 3
Borderlands 2
GTA V / Online
Skyrim
I hate actual top 5 / top 10 lists though, I fare much better with categories, like
Best Speccy game: Silkworm
Runner ups: Rainbow Island, Pang
Best Amiga game: Hired Guns
RU: Carrier Command
Best XBox Live Indie Game: One Finger Death Punch
RU: Call of Cthulhu
And so on

I think that's most genres covered. I don't care for sport so that's sorted by the SMB minigames, MOBAs were all too toxic to bother persevering with and realistic racers aint my bag.
Not sure why I went God of War over Breath of the Wild, other than weapon degradation making Master Mode a pointless addition to the game.

Last year I semi-seriously attempted to put together a top 500 all time list. It quickly became a glorious mind melting mess, but im pretty happy with the first 100 or so.

See that list from Danno is exactly why I can’t just do a straight top 5/10/20. Too many stone cold classics across so many years and console generations. The list of games I’d take to a desert island, games I’d put in a hall of fame, games I’d use to introduce my kids to gaming - totally different. Anyway what I really mean is I’m embarrassed I didn’t mention Wipeout / 2097 until now |

Well, I said Bloodlines the last time and otherwise mentioned way too many games and probably forgot quite a few...
ECHO is one I forgot as it seems. And I think at this point I have to include Necromunda - Hired Gun. Not as good as E.Y.E. perhaps, but just as much fun as Shadow Warrior 2.

Nothing beats TIE Fighter, really.
Homeworld and sequel also just felt so timeless and full of emotion and life.
In terms of transcendent experience, quite a few VR games have managed it.
Currently Rainbow Six Siege is all I really need.
