Never played Ocarina of Time(amongst many other Nintendo classics) does it still hold up today? I personally think so. Hyrule Field is fairly barren but the dungeons are still fantastic and there's a great sense of atmopshere and secrets within the world. I'm heavily biased though as it was my favourite game of all time until Breath of the Wild dropped.

I've always hoped they'd do a Links Awakening remake of it but that doesn't look too likely.

This will absolutely both date me and reveal my PC bias.
Deus Ex - plot is hilarious garbage but my god what a game Thief 2 System Shock 2 - so basically anything Looking Glass or adjacent. Freespace 2 - the last and greatest space fighter sim, fuck all this exploring and trading resources like a space Del Boy. Baldur's Gate 2 (but really the entire set played back to back with 1 and ToB) Planescape: Torment - though why it's not Torment: Planescape to match Tides of Numenera.... which is also great but Planescape it is Super Mario Galaxy Dishonoured 2 - everything about it is near perfect, I also love Deathloop and Prey, anything Arkane does that's just a lovingly made single player game XCOM 2 - I like it better than the originals now, bite me. Except maybe Apocalypse, I love that hot mess. A Total War - Could go original Medieval or Rome: The Barbarian invasion, but honestly it's Mortal Empires Total Warhammer (and that will probably become Immortal Empires in no time) A Civilisation - honestly don't mind which. Actually it's probably Alpha Centauri but the UI on that is borderline unusuable these days. Half Life 2 Portal 2 Dwarf Fortress Minecraft - I need one of the longform chill building games, could also go Satisfactory or Space Engineers but Minecraft probably still is best.

Baldur's Gate 2 (but really the entire set played back to back with 1 and ToB) This is the only right way. BG1 + Siege of Dragonspear, BG2 + ToB. Look up and wonder where half the year went.

Not sure about SoD, I found everything Beamdog added to be kinda superfluous really and would happily skip it.

Sega Rally Championship (Arcade) - my favourite arcade of all time. Played it a few weeks ago (Four Quarters Hackney) for the first time in ages and still managed to get 1st including the bonus stage on first attempt (and then didn't set a better time all afternoon ) Tetris (original GB version, Battle Gaiden on the SNES, Effect and 99) - the GB version was gaming perfection, the others added their own twists which work so well Ocarina of Time (N64) - classic in every way Mario Karts (pretty much any version) - multiplayer greatness and one you can easily play with more casual gamers Saturn Bomberman (Saturn, multitaps, and 9 mates) - an amazing multiplayer experience, but one I only got to do a handful of times Stunt Car Racer (Amiga) - my favourite game of that generation Vice City (PS2) - took GTA3 and improved everything about it. GTA5 is very accomplished and for a year I had a lot of fun online, but VC at the time was very special more recent so time will tell on how I think about them maybe Ghost of Tsushima - gorgeous, great story, delightful combat Pac-Man 99 - only played this for the first time last week, but I am hooked. Takes a classic, makes it faster to play, and really get's the pulse going

Wind Waker still looks and plays amazing though, so give that a try I'd say it depends on how accepting you are of the older visuals.
The gameplay mostly holds up, except some annoyances with the camera and saving.
Personally, I really like the visuals as I find them very charming, if retro. The 2d interiors excluded.
I think the DS version replaced the 2d interiors and polished a lot of things up.
The thing that took me ages to get used to was that things like jars/plants respawn every time you leave and re-enter an area. Coming from PC that seemed really weird.
I agree that Wind Waker has aged a lot less, and the gameplay is in many ways very similar. Ocarina still has something magic about it for me though.

It could be argued it was more content in a set of games that doesn't really need it, but for me it was just another strand in the epic tale of FatedHero1, and I don't think there's a better place to go for a series of video games that does this kind of character development scale.

Sure though that is a basic description of why it's so fucking good. Proper epic stuff with the gods and fate like what an actual epic is meant to be, not just long.

Special mention for WCW/NWO revenge and WWF No Mercy on N64. The visuals have aged like milk but I've never had so much fun in multiplayer before or since.

Adding Ghost of Tsushima to my list, thanks gamingdave for reminding me. On that note I still haven't played that one's DLC...

I really need to finish it. I enjoy it but take such gaps, every time I load it up it takes me a good 30 minutes to remember what Iβm doing and how to even play the damn thing.

Maybe give the alternative control scheme a shot? It made a big difference for me - no more trying (and failing) to overcome muscle memory, and taking a spear to the knackers in the process.

That takes me back. I loved the Gabriel Knight games. Well, the first one for sure. Tim Curry was ace in that. I never finished the third if I remember right.

Sega Rally Championship (Arcade) - my favourite arcade of all time. As it should be. Though, Outrun 2 is a close second, and it's much easier to find nowadays, whereas an SRC machine is a very rare sight at this point.

Thanks for the comments on Destiny 2. I'll be a bit cautious with it as I don't really have time for an addictive time sink. Time is a bit precious these days. Besides, I bought Lego lord of the rings and that dark lord isn't going to be defeated without my help.

That would just be way too much for me. I did play through Shadows of Amn four times and tried ToB three times, but only ever finished the latter once.
And I bounced off of BG1 back when I tried it. I have been thinking about giving that one another try soon.
