As in the unit itself. Not the games, not the controller, just the box sitting under your TV.
Personally, the Dreamcast did it for me. Dinky but with character.
Honourable mentions include the PsOne (the revised, smaller console), the DS Lite (just the easiest thing to carry about and whip out and put away when needed) and the NES, because nothing will ever be as iconic.

Dreamcast is great. I think there's a part of me that prefers the Saturn; but it could go either way. Also honorable mention to the Xbox One X, which looks like a modern minimalist PS2, without the 80s wedges.

Dreamcast, especially the OG design with the crystal on the lid. Xbox One X is cool. GameCube was cute. Saturn was cool too.

Original 360 in the white/off white colour. With the lovely red ring really tying the room together

I'd probably say the GameCube was first (in any colour but black). Then its the PS1 (original model) as that thing forever looks like the future to me.

Gamecube, Black Xbox 360, Xbox One X. If Nintendo had done a matte black Wii with a sturdier controller port lid (always seemed cheap and flimsy) it would be up there.
Sony seems to want to differentiate itself from it's hi-fi/AV stuff, which seems crazy to me, especially when they tried pushing the PS3 interface onto everything.

Gamecube. Purple. Mods, close the thread. Never had a GameCube but this was my thought as soon as I seen the thread title. Stunning looking wee thing. Then again the Atari 2600 Jr is my second choice so what do I know.

SNES was the first console I bought myself so I liked it a lot. Always wanted the US model though, didn't like the super Famicom style.

I'm slightly suprised by the One X mentions. I like it a lot, but its boring like the Wii and NES. Miles ahead of the PS5 though.

Yeah, purple GameCube will always hold a special place in my heart. My mum got me a black GC for Christmas one year which got delivered to my brother's place, who decided to keep it for himself. She ended up buying one locally instead and they only had the purple one left. It was a massively generous gift, and even came with Metroid Prime so I didn't spend too long getting hung up over the colour. (which I ended up loving)
Recently the OLED Switch has surprised me with just how nice it looks in the flesh.

I liked how the N64 looked, but it was better with the Ultra 64 badge.

Does the Ouya count? I like the simple design of that, and the Wii. The PSP was nice looking too.
I'm surprised to hear the Dreamcast get mentioned with it's beige plastic and all that.

I was thinking about the Ouya. It was very cute. The design deserved better.
I have a soft spot for the wood panelling on the 2600 too. I would have bought a wood panelled TV and furniture just to coordinate with it.

OG Mega Drive.
If handhelds count the DS Lite towers above everything else.

The SNES. Its, basically, perfect design. Smooth, sleek and symmetrical.
Not the steroid addled US one, obvs.

OT: Definitely the purple Gamecube. The original Sega MegaDrive is a close second.

I'm looking over the images of all the consoles and have to say that none of them are particularly interesting to look at. Sure, the GameCube is purple, but it is still just a block of plastic.
PS3 has a shiny, curvy look to it, so I guess I could go for that, but still isn't massively inspiring (the PS5 just looks weird).
Really though, the Switch with its no nonsense, slight design is probably the best. Tucks in there and goes invisible. As a result, the handheld itself lacks any kind of ergonomic design though.

I actually really like the Wii, purely in terms of design. Clean, unfussy design, and no bigger than it needed to be.
