Looks like a Sky box. @that Xbox 720 or a massive wireless router. but so does the PS5, so maybe that internet guy was onto something.

I think I like the US one more is because when Total magazine started hyping the SNES up this is what they kept showing so I was a bit disappointed with the rounded edges etc. In the end I didn't care cos Super Mario World I dont know how anyone with functioning eyes could prefer the US one. That said, I do understand it. Its very 90s American. 'Hmmm... this console looks too queer, we need to butch it up around 85%' (also, as further proof, the button layout on the pad is an iconic bit of design you see pop up everywhere. Nobody gives a fuck about the parma violets on the yankee doodle one).

US one doesn't even have the awesome little power switch.

The left purple tab is the power switch! PAL version doesn't even have the lovely concave Y and X buttons....

The Gameboy Advance has the best closing sound of any clamshell device. I know it's not the subject, but it needs to be said.

Edit - never used concave buttons but it's not really caught on since has it? It didn't because it's a terrible design. You might have used concave buttons on a NES controller. Not 100% sure because when I image search them some of them have them and some don't--maybe another US/EU controller difference? I don't know if European NESes had them, my NES Mini does though.

I was being a little tongue in cheek about the concave buttons, but they're actually rather nice though. Genesis and Saturn pads had a bit of concaveness to them on the A B and C buttons.
The problem with the NES pad is that the whole thing is uncomfortable. It's small and angular, and the buttons aren't angled in relation to your thumb's natural rotation.

For the record, if I was to incite a flame war over that, I wasn't being 100% serious either.
Anyway, yeah the NES controller is horrible, which became really apparent when I got my NES Mini. Thankfully it has the same connectors as the SNES Mini so you can use those controllers instead which is such a night and day difference. Well, and then I stopped using the NES Mini altogether because the emulation is shit.

I think I would go Dreamcast, closely followed by the purple GameCube then the (non-US) SNES. Soft spot for the Genisis Japanese Mega Drive as I had one on import (stupidly sold and now just have a PAL MD) Handheld wise the GBA SP was a delight, as was the Micro, but then the OG Gameboy was great and the Vita is also pretty sweet. I always really wanted one of these though: I've got a load of my old Nintendo (SNES to Wii) and Sega (Mega Drive, Saturn and DC) consoles on shelves in the living room along with loads of handhelds as I just think they are generally great bits of design. But all the old Sony and MS machines are in a cupboard as I really don't like the designs as much, they just don't have as much character. My favourite on the shelf though isn't a console, but an Amiga 1200 - which apart from the odd session on Octamed or running demo's basically was used as a console.

I didn't mention the Genesis or Mega Drive because they're basically the same apart from some artwork... but of the three (US, JP, PAL), I thought the Genesis had the worst decals tbh. I think Japan's Mega Drive is on top, and UK's just below it.

My favourite MD design is actually the PAL one, I prefer the smaller 16-text

My favourite MD design is actually the PAL one, I prefer the smaller 16-text I dunno, I was always a bit disappointed with the less colourful pal MD and I wanted it to say 16-BIT in huge gold letters so everyone knew. Not sure why they bothered to change it really?

Maybe it's just not what I'm used to but the JP design looks garish to me

Adapted for British understatement perhaps? As far as I'm concerned, everyone needs to know from a mile away, and the JP one kills it

There's not much in it to be honest, at least we all know that the Genesis was the worst
