Has its blades into me big time now. Boy woke me up at 6am but can’t say I minded getting a brew on and coming down stairs to play this!

nedDon't they just! I got the first one after a couple of attempts, but gave up on the second after failing half a dozen times. Will return later when I'm stronger

I repeatedly try them until they die. The first one took me about 10 goes but after that they are a bit easier.

I've done the first two, but the third one at the village in Vannaheim I've had to leave for now. Beat me so many times when I had its health bar right down. Annoying.

I did the first one (watchtower) easily, but the 2nd one in the Tyr mine took a while, for some reason. I just couldn't get into the rhythm. Excellent challenges, though, very satisfying.

I found the first one hardest, tbh. I've kinda been prepared for all the others once I see the signpost for it. Still got 2 to go I think tho.

Glad I am not the only one finding them hard.
I always end up not using Spartan Rage or other cool-downs, as if I am saving them for something and not wanting to waste them. So they go unused and I wonder why it feels harder. Must stop just relying on r1 spam like it’s a dark souls and use all the abilities.
I’m trying to fight the urge to sit and play this all day.

Yeah the difficulty is well measured on give me balance. Hard but not frustratingly so. Once I remembered that blocking is a big part of it it became a lot easier.

Everyone still feeling that Give Me Balance is still presenting a challenge? For me it is, I wanted to try Give Me No Mercy, but for now even against power level 1-2 stuff (I am 2) it feels like it’s keeping my on my toes. Especially when surrounded by those tiny lizards with the big momma one spawning even more like a piñata, with the fuckers who cling to the walls raining poison down

Iirc, early on in the first one, lots of the enemies were green or sometimes yellow health bars, but in this, they've been mostly yellow and quite a few orange ones.
I've died and been on low health more often, too, I reckon.

I don't remember stuff spawning in behind you anywhere near as much in the first one. It seems as soon as I'm attacking the stuff in front, I'm getting red and yellow indicators for stuff out of my view. It's been really hard to get out of even the more basic battles without losing some health.
Although in the last few hours, since I've been tooled up to the eyeballs and have runic attacks slotted into everything it's been getting a little easier to absolutely bombard crowds before they even get going.

I've definitely been find it challenging on the default difficulty, like Dogbot said I've been close death more than a few times. I think I need to learn use the environment more than I'm doing as I often just stay in a general area without moving to give myself time to breathe because my brain is trying to process using Atreus, two types of weapons, a relic, runic powers and whatever combos I have at my disposal all at the same time. It definitely makes sense that a lot of Devs at Sony Santa Monica are from the FGC community.

I've barely used the frost build up/fire spin blade thing you do using triangle as there are so many moves to remember those are the things that I've simply had to give up on trying to commit to memory. Probably quite important for the harder stuff with elemental shields too.

There are many button combos to remember that it can be tricky in the heat of battle.
My old favorite is running around and smashing R2, lots of frost and stagger. Very useful for spamming them over ledges too.

The charged weapons are really good, though. Bloody hell, the Nidhogg. Epic.

Yeah it was a bloody long fight as well. Kept getting tagged with one of his red attacks which didn't help.

I am being dumb but I cannot work out how sometimes when I hit the sensor pad it is defaulting to the Map and other times it is going to character stats and I have to R2 across to the map - someone explain how it works!

Are you accidentally activating the sensor pad toggle to jump straight into the different menu? IIRC if you blow into the mic it will always default to the map, if you're inhaling - to the inventory etc etc

I'm finding this a lot more playable now I've switched off the camera shake and camera sway settings, a most unpleasant effect. I really don't quite understand why they put it in, are they trying to mimic a handheld camera or something? Still, full marks for allowing you to switch it off!

Ah cool, I will also turn that shit off. They're definitely going for the reportage-style camerawork, especially with the one-take gimmick. I find that whole design choice a bit weird given the subject matter.

I could have played a lot of my AAA, 999%-Metacritic, 80-Euro, first party exclusive God Of War at the weekend.
What I actually *did* play was Vampire Survivors on the Xbox Gamepass.

Gotta say, it annoys me a bit. 90% of my deaths are from an attack from behind me. It's not the most elegant game design when your main focus when playing a game needs to be directed at an arrow in the lower left corner.

I still maintain the semi-fixed camera was a better fit for the game. It would have also allowed for a father/son co-op mode.
