When are they going to let this continued idea of Harrison Ford as Indy rest already? When the guy will be 95?
Yeah, Shia Lebouf's character sucked as a potential successor, but that doesn't mean they couldn't try again with a different guy and especially a better script.
We are now in the era of superheroes who can be played by whoever wakes up on the right side of the bed that day. I think audiences would be more accepting of a recast than they were 15 years ago, so to speak. Besides, other characters like James Bond have been changing the main actor for years already, so it wasn't impossible even back then.

That was pretty good. They intentionally mix up old and new footage so I'm not entirely sure what is what, but are the Nazis the bad guys again?
I guess it's waller-bridge as the new Shia, seemed alright.

I'm pretty sure he said this was his final go at the character.
but tbf, audiences weren't fond of young Han Solo.

I think you could easily have made Indiana Jones into a James Bond/Doctor Who style of franchise, with a different Indy every few films. Wheeling him out again seems wrong when he was already far too old 14 years years ago. Looks like we are getting a de-aging sequence here too, which looked really awkward in that De Nero film a couple of years ago.
I'm sure i will see this, but keeping expectations pretty low.
Edit - to be fair about Solo, I think most people thought Alden Ehrenreich did a good job and was one of the better things about that film. I would be happy him being a young Han Solo in a good film.

There's another Indy TV show that somehow is going to be between The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and Temple of Doom, maybe they'll get Alden Ehrenreich to be younger Indy...

Yeah, I get this feeling that, after what happened with Solo, they aren't ready for a recast just yet.
But I don't think the problem with Solo was having a different guy as Han.

Why don't they just de-age Indy like they did with De Niro?

I wonder if there's an age limit where deaging is no longer believable. The Irishman is referenced here a few times. There was also the bad Leia in Rogue One. Nike did a football commercial recently where they feature young Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, and it's much more believable IMO, but they're also in their 40s, not 70s.

Why don't they just de-age Indy like they did with De Niro? Jesus, he kicks like a guy with crippling arthritis.

This looks like hot garbage. No idea why anyone would bother watching it when they can just watch the old ones.

Thats a big call for 90 seconds of rapid cut flashbacks and terrible CGI (watch the trailer again and pay attention to his floating ghost head at 54 seconds).

It’s written and directed by Mangold as opposed to Spielberg so it has a chance of actually having a bit of grit and not being overly sentimental. That said it’s shot with that same horrible soft golden nostalgic colour grade that the last one had (but none of the originals) which I hate.

I don't mind a bit of nostalgia to these given how much I enjoyed 1 2 and 3 in growing up. 4 was a terrible obv. I loved TFA at the time it was released which hit that perfect balance for me (even though it was just a re-make, bigger death star etc etc) it was still fantastic seeing at the cinema with my kids. Could this do the same? Probably not, but that trailer gave me a decent nostalgia vibe.
Overall I just don't want it to be utter shit and if its decent would make it far easier to forget CSkull even exists.

Its kind of sad that it looks like Boyd Hollbrook is the bad guy because he could have been a decent recipient of the torch/mutt recast.

I wonder how long ago John Rhys-Davies filmed his scenes for this, as he doesn't look as worryingly thin in the trailer than he did in that recent episode of Documentary Now! where he looked as if he might have been ill or given clothes a little too big for him.
