It's a bit weird, actually. I was reading about blue eye orb, and there is no mention anywhere for blue phantoms to be able to appear as defenders of an invaded host. So either they were invading me, and sheer luck of timing put them in the world of the player I was invading at the time or they were actually invading the other guy who also had sin, and by accident I was also invading that other guy at the same time. Also, it seems in Remastered, blue eye orb uses the same matchmaking as red eye orb, so to catch me you would also have to defeat Four Kings at low level with a +5 weapon max, and be careful what stuff you pick up, because if you picked up lightning spear, you'd already be at +10 weapon level matchmaking and would then never find me. Good luck with that

No need for any of that when you can just be a Sunbro and get called in when people actually want the assistance.

That's not the police, though, that's just hired muscle.

Hired muscle is exactly what the police is.

Hmmm, yeah, but actually, I think there is no police in Dark Souls, except maybe the Darkroot Garden defenders. The blue bros are more like bounty hunters and the white bros are more like mercenaries.

The Blades of the Darkmoon act close to a "DSPD", as it were, in that they invade "sinners": NPC killers, covenant breakers, a couple other things like killing Gwyndolin/Gwynevere and chiefly those who have been indicted by other players (although I think only the last one actually registers you as a Darkmoon Blade target in the Book of the Guilty)...
But of course you have to be online to be invaded, so there's not much stopping a sinner from unplugging the router and giving the Darkmoons the ol' two finger salute (or one, depending on where you are)

Yep, that's the blue bros. But they are more like bounty hunters, because others put a bounty on you and then the blue bros come to collect.

I'm now doing a "complete" run as well, where I try to collect everything. Had some dragon bro duels to get enough scales for the dragon torso stone, was fun. Sunbro covenant is last.
Cutting off Kalameet's tail is a pain in the ass, though, so I might skip the Obsidian Greatsword.

Managed to get Obsidian Greatsword. Also farmed Oolacile Catalyst. Don't think I ever had that before. Now only Ghost Blade and Solaire's stuff missing (and the smith hammers, will get those last). Ghost Blade is another one of those things I probably never had before, because it's a rare drop from only 2 enemies in the whole game (Banshee).
Not sure yet if I'll kill Solaire in this playthrough, but I probably will.

I'm sunbroing a bit now as atonement for the sins accrued during my side hustle of invading noobs. It's quite cathartic to burst through Four Kings as high level char with good DPS after the terrible plight of trying to kill them at level 10 with only +5 weapons as the noob invader.

So apparently this is how Solaire looks without helmet? I almost wish I didn't know.

This one seems subtle at first, until you try to hack off the tail:
