Also worth bearing in mind for those on Xbox with a capable TV, make sure you're running at 120hz with VRR and not 60hz, the difference with the LFC (Low Framerate Compensation) at 120hz is genuinely quite stark.

Very tempted to pick this up for the weekend.
45-50fps in performance mode from what I've seen .
Cheers for the video link. Performance doesnt look great. My TV supports VRR but its only HDMI 2.0 compliant, and therefore my VRR range is only 48fps-60fps. I can see from the link it dips below this quite frequently.
I have now bought the game and will be playing it over the weekend. To be fair, Elden Ring performed shit on the Series X too with drops under 48fps in places, and that didnt really ruin my enjoyment.
I'll give it a try and if performance isn't great, I will wait for a patch or two.
The alternative is that I force 1440p in the Xbox dashboard, then the VRR range on my TV has a much larger window. However for some reason, the TV then doesn't support HDR. |

Apparently this games DRM is so stupid that content creators doing benchmarks can't even do so because they're only allowed to install the game on one PC. I do wonder how the game was released in this state especially after EA was crowing on how the game was developed in record time.

The combat feels fucking great, as soon as they allow me to use the other half of my PC's resources I will be loving this. Its just what I want from a star wars game and as soon as it's fixed I will have a great time with it.

Can you switch styles on the fly in game like DMC5? You can quick swap between 2 styles at a time. You have to select the 2 styles that you want, and you can switch those at meditation (save) points, which each level has multiple. It’s a little cumbersome don’t I think it’s that big a deal. |

I've still got that to look at as well but I'm waiting to get some other bits finished first. Only reason I grabbed this before launch is because I got a key for about 30 quid so I figured it's the same as waiting for a price drop.

This is pretty kewl so far. Feels a lot less stiff and generally just seems improved in most ways. It’s also much more of a Star Wars GameTM than the sort of “souls-like with Star Wars added” feel the first one sometimes had.

The combat is a fucking huge step up. First one never quite felt right, like you never really had proper control of what was going on and you were beating people with a glowing stick. This feels really responsive and the light saber feels lethal. Some of the animations are still weirdly chimp like and I can fell the VRR trying it's best to make things feel smooth but I'm enjoying it a lot so far. They've fixed a lot of the issues I had with the first one.

Is Windows 11 actually better with multi-threaded CPUs than 10 is? Hopefully they will be able to find some fixes, but seems right to wait a little bit to play this one on PC. |

Been playing the game again tonight, just exploring Koboh and still no technical issues for me so far beyond mild half-second texture pop in.
Just been eaten by a Rancor. 10/10, would be digested again.

So far in this game, I have: - Encountered Raz from Psychonauts, reborn in a frog body - Taken far too long to realize that the white stuff all over the rock outcropping I was standing on was actually an astonishing amount of bird shit - Met a deeply Scottish version of James Pond, Robocod - Fished something out of what might be the first toilet ever seen in Star Wars - Been amused by a Gonk droid painted to look like it was wearing a tuxedo |

I abandoned the first game after about 6hrs as I was bored and it totally failed to make me care. Was really disappointed by how uninspired and generic it was.
Would be good to know if there's enough in this for someone that's a bit jaded by modern formulaic third person games but craves another KOTOR like experience.

Hard to see this changing your mind to be honest. Production values are higher, cut-scenes are more cinematic and the story definitely gets going a lot quicker and everything seems to be bigger in scale, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to someone who didn't enjoy the first. It was the mudslides, ice caverns and giant ball puzzles I didn’t like about the first one. If I’m a Jedi I don’t want to spend my whole time force pushing some big ball into the right slot for ages at a time. I want to fight.
