Played it for about 1hr on Series X.
I refuse to play it in quality mode as I'm not dropping to 30fps.
Performance mode looks sharp to me, HDR looks stunning.
But...the game is very much broken in performance mode. Constant stuttering and screen tearing, even with VRR on. Even when the game is hitting 60fps it is stuttering like crazy.
Also, you know something is wrong when it cannot even display the opening logos without it stuttering like mad.
An absolute shit show and unacceptable. I won't be touching it again until there has been patches to improve this, however long it takes.
If you haven't picked it up yet, do yourself a favor and wait for a deep sale many months down the line.

I’m not getting any noticeable gameplay performance issues on PS5. Screen tear (only across the very top of the top of the screen) in Performance mode, but it runs well enough.

The PS5 version is in a much better state it would seem, not perfect, but better.
Seems to be the way of things with UE4 titles of late, meanwhile on Xbox & PC...

Do you have a 120hz TV? I find on Series X at 120hz it's not as bad due to the low framefrate compensation built in. However, my TV is only HDMI 2.0 so I have to limit the output through the dashboard to 1440p to get this feature and to support 120hz. However my TV doesn't support HDR in these settings, and I don't want to miss HDR because the game looks so much better with it on. Basically, on Series X at least, unless you have an HDMI 2.1 TV with VRR support, it's 30fps for you or alternatively a juddery mess. EDIT. I think it's actually the Series X that doesn't output 1440p with HDR. Is anyone else able to confirm this? I always thought it was my TV.

Some have had success with a 1440 monitor downscaling 4k to 1440 with HDR.

I thought for the last year or two it was my TV but now finally found out its actually the console that doesn't support HDR @ 1440p

As Alex reported, every PC will experience the issues he mentioned. The fact that you don't notice them is a lot more worrying for you

DF seems to be saying all the issues in the first game are present in the second. I don't remember any particular issues that made the first game unplayable though. There might have been the odd traversal stutter maybe, but nothing that massively stood out.
Maybe they are more exaggerated in the sequel?

Not really sure what to think of this so far. Performance on the PS5 is bad, really bad, several times I‘ve checked if the game has switched to quality mode by accident. Tearing, framerate somewhere in the 40s I would guess, while not looking anywhere as good as, say, Horizon. Combat is improved, but it‘s still no Ghost of Tsushima. Rancor bossfight has general hit detection and area of effect damage that has little to do with what‘s on the screen.
The game‘s saving grace is the Star Wars setting.

Apparently, there is a classic 2000-era game fucking bug where it forces you to save and if you die before hitting the next save point, you get trapped in a cave and have to delete your progress and start the game again.
So don’t die, if you’re still playing this.

I picked up The Callisto Protocol while I put this on the back-burner. Only cost me £18, hopefully I'm not jumping from one disappointment to another.

I love my xbox maniny due to Gears but have to say that I think the majority of games I have played on series X and ps5 (thank subscription services doe double dip) look and play better on ps5!

From what I played on PS5 of the first one it ran great. Just a shame the game was a bit rubbish.

I played through the first one on the week of launch and don’t recall having any issues. Same with this one so far.
Although I don’t think I’ve reached that game-ending doom cave yet.

From what I remember it definitely had issues on pc, I had it on the One X and I had issues it felt very unpolished, I fell through the scenery quite a few times especially with one boss that required a QTE as you fell towards it and the character kept flying off screen. It wasn't great.

The big mountain thing you went up wouldn't render in at all for me so I had to make my way through and invisible part do the level. Took me fucking ages

I love my xbox maniny due to Gears but have to say that I think the majority of games I have played on series X and ps5 (thank subscription services doe double dip) look and play better on ps5! I think there has been some very high profile games released where they ran better on PS5, which is why people think that most stuff runs better on the PS5. I don't actually think this is true, it's swings and roundabouts with no clear winner. Japanese devs will always favor the PS though, so it does have an advantage there. There seems to be a narrative emerging that Jedi Survivor runs worse on Xbox than PS. The PS5 version is NOT in a better shape than Xbox. This video is an interesting watch where the youtuber actually apologies for stating the PS5 version runs better. After getting further into the game it looks like the PS actually struggles more with dips into the 30-40fps range. youtu.be/jyn97Ak5CWoLets be clear though. All platforms need serious work and its completely unacceptable to release them in this state.

Maybe the performance issues in the first one are to blame for my many deaths in the ice caverns.
