That last stretch really does take any fun out the game, I didn't pay for the Ubi+ sub and still left a little bit disappointed.

Enjoying this, now I'm past the first insta fail bits and can do what I like. I don't mind sneaking around for a bit but I'd rather just get in to a scrappy gunfight when I mess up/ get bored.
It's due to this tendency to want a firefight that I've pissed off all the factions, and the only way I can see them liking me again is when I double cross others. Does that matter?. Or are there easy ways later on to get in their good books?. I don't really like being locked out of zones where stealth is the only option as not being sneaky got me here.

That's a feature, you have to choose who loves you. Tbh I mostly ignored all of that as you will always be stealthing somewhere.

Kind of feels like they're telling me I might as well just wait until it's fully patched and pick it up for a fiver.

There is an unshakable consensus with Ubisoft games in particular that it's better to just wait for 6 months to a year before picking it up as it'll be a more complete game for cheaper.

Seeing as the Steam version of AC Valhalla still doesn't have achievements, I wouldn't bet on SW Outlaws feeling like a complete release either.

I've now played 46 hours and I've still not landed on one of the planets yet (Akiva), can easily see this being my single player GOTY.

Put about 30 hours into this now.
Might just be my favourite game this year to be honest. I could stealth my way around imperial bases stealing crap all day long.
It's a stealth game through and through for me, some of the bigger bases housing gadget upgrades can turn into an absolute nightmare if you try shooting your way through without finding and disabling some alarms first, same for the rest of the game really.
Sneaking around the faction bases being a duplicitous shite reminds me of skulking around the base in Splinter Cell Double Agent whilst undercover. Speaking of which, come on Ubisoft reboot that franchise pronto.
Oh and the visuals, my god the lighting. This and Avatar really are next level looking at times, have to hand it to Massive and the Snowdrop Engine.
Also is it wrong I've been looking at going full nerd and buying a Sabaac set? Spent waaaaaay too much time playing that game.
I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan really, but I love the games and always have, could take or leave the films with the exception of Empire & Jedi.

Kind of feels like they're telling me I might as well just wait until it's fully patched and pick it up for a fiver. quoting an old post but yeah. Pretty much every big budget game lately has been shit out the door and then the patch cycle used to fix it up. This issue might be what they're attempting to address with the next AssCreed game with it's delay so that it rolls out with all this bullshit ironed out day 1. Hahaha, sorry I couldn't keep a straight face, no way it's going to happen. I think I was just sick in my mouth

I thought Lando was supposed to be good at Sabaac? Shame YouTube seems to have washed out the lighting a lot though.

I think I would bite at £20 on either xbox or ps5.

I would be tempted by £20, if I didn't just buy a load of Prince of Persia games. Probably should finish Jedi Survivor before I get another Star Wars game too.

It cost me £44 and I've played over 65 hours so I've certainly got my money's worth and I still have a lot left to go.
Easily my favourite single player game of the year.

WhizzoAlways great to read when someone is having fun with something that was not universally praised.

65 hours and there's still a lot left to go? How much padding are we talking here? Because I'd be bored doing the same stuff around the 30 mark.

If you golden path it you'll be done in far less time (under 20 hours, most likely), even dabbling with some side content. Whizzo's just milking it for all it's got because he's enjoying doing it.

Yeah definitely less than 20 hours if you just mainline it.
Also I think it actually *lets* you mainline it, unlike for example an AC game (Mirage not withstanding) where missions are often character level based, so your forced into side content to level up or run the risk of getting your arse handed to you.
Can't recall any obvious filler or side content being forced upon you to proceed.

I'm still having too much fun to stop playing, I've got one last person to fully recruit but I keep finding other interesting things to do.
Other than Kijimi there's a lot tucked away on the different planets and the space combat, while not TIE Fighter, is fun enough to get into trouble blasting Imps if I feel like it.
I still don't understand the Death Trooper event though, maybe that'll get a rejig in tomorrow's patch.
One thing that's not immediately obvious too is if you're in a hurry you can fast travel between entire planets. Me? I quite like doing the whole take off and hyperspace process.

FWIW (probably not much as I'm a known open-world enjoyer) I did enjoy the open-world ACs. Yes, the icon spam can be intense (although Valhalla did slightly tone it down), doing absolutely every little thing would burn even me out and I'm not in any particular rush to try the non-AC Ubisoft open worlds such as Outlaws... But they're still scenic, (generally) well-made tours of some really rather picturesque locales, with serviceable enough gameplay and story to carry a playthrough (at least IMO), and I didn't really feel much pressure to do everything just for levels either, at least not on the middling difficulty level that I played on. Odyssey had it worst with the level sync, but in all three of them, doing a majority of the available activities (most/all of the "major" icons, but not necessarily every sidequest, and a lot of the Exp. was there) usually left me either at level parity or higher without needing to seek out further sources. Tl;dr Ubisoft/AC open worlds aren't for everyone, and they're certainly not the best in the genre, "AAAA" offerings that Ubisoft would like them to be either... But I do think they have enough enjoyable parts in them to be called good games nevertheless

I would definitely play Valhalla again before say, Horizon.
I'll pick Outlaws up at some point.

Damn, that price has pushed me over the edge and I've now bought it, was originally going to wait for this on steam and get it cheap over the next 6-12 months when the price would expect to drop.
Anyone use the Luke Ross VR Mod?
Happy to play it flat screen mode but would like to think that I could play it in VR right now, even though there will probably be some jank due to the mod/flat version not working in conjunction or as expected.

Gold version of this is on amazon (xbox) for £60. So basically the season pass is free.
