I don't remember him being that bad. I think he had one attack that would one hit, the others were not too bad. Couldn't you just smack him when he chomped sideways? There's that other boss with the massive punch that was a bit of an arse though

Oh I have done it, all the way to Yharnam. Only once though so can't really remember individual fights too clearly, just if I remember getting particularly fed up or not

I got fed up with those women that summon a million spiders, especially when there's two of them in one section. I had to do full laps of the room getting hits on them as I ran past trying not to get surrounded by their little bastards

I’m at the third chalice dungeon now, Lower Pthumeru Chalice Dungeon, and it’s …almost identical to the first two. At least the enemies are not all one shots so closer to a proper level for it. I’m guessing the theme/style will change more down the line as these first three were also similarly named. I’m starting to understand more how the thing works. I thiiink I can remove the first two that I’m done with without screwing up anything?

They don't change dramatically but there are subtle things between them. Hintertombs are dark and full of poison, loran has sand, lightning, vast canyons, isz is super sparkly and cosmic, and the enemies change. The basic components, as it were, by and large are the same.
Yeah, remove any you've done.

So I played Sekiro before returning to my attempt at platinum for BB. Got one shot plenty by both the dog and amygdala, but my perseverance really got a boost after grinding down Isshin, so never doubted I could get through them, just had to stop getting hit (duh). Got all the red jelly so I’m ready for the last boss in my way before my very first plat

Also, seriously, where the fuck is the fucking 60fps PS5 patch for this. I cannot comprehend any reason why there isn't one. It's practically the same assets / engine / etc as Dark Souls 3.

Got it done, I feel so empty now. What do I play? After obsessing over FROM games this pandemic (late to the party so I played them all for the first time) so many other games I just bounce off. Like god of war, hzd, ghost of Tsushima are all feeling a bit flat. I can see that they’re gorgeous and the fighting is pretty neat, but when I did a quest in GoT and it just haha lol no, that’s just the first quest in a chain of nine, I felt deflated. When I think about it souls have plenty of quest chains, they’re just extremely obtuse. Somehow I prefer that? |

Nioh 1&2 are my choices for next games to play. They are easily the best of the souls-likes out there.
My list for after those:
The Surge 2 - a bit janky but it's far better than the first one and has a lot of interesting concepts with some very memorable boss fights
Hellpoint - super low budget indie souls-like that is actually the most like Dark Souls. Imagine Dark Souls crossed with Dead Space. Now imagine a game nowhere near as good as either. It's like that. Yet somehow still decent, if you can forgive it's jank.
Mortal Shell - It's a bit one note but has a lovely oppresive atmosphere
Lords of the Fallen / The Surge - Worth a play as they are mega cheap in every sale. Just don't expect anything amazing.
Ashen - Think this is actually alright but to my shame I keep forgetting about it
Darksiders 3 / Remnant: From the Ashes - I'm grouping these together as they are made by the same studio and are looser souls-likes. D3 bored me very quickly. remnant is not too bad at all but a bit dull at points. Worth it if it's going cheap though
Code Vein: Dark Souls with boobs. I gave up 2/3s of the way through, it's bollocks. I tried to like it. But it's bollocks.
Jedi: Fallen Order: Didn't finish this either. Something didn't feel quite right with it.
Immortal Unchained: Hard to track down as it was withdrawn from sale. I got hold of it but it's quite shit and I don't think I'll go back to it.
2d Soulslikes include:
Salt and Sanctuary - Very much Dark Souls but 2D. It's really good. Not played the sequel yet.
Hollow Night / Blasphemous - They are often called 2D souls-likes but I consider them more metroidvanias. HK is awesome and Blasphemous is good as well, but with some flaws.
There's loads of other 2D games that are cited as souls-likes like Dead Cells and so on, but they aren't really.
