Nioh 1&2 are my choices for next games to play. They are easily the best of the souls-likes out there. My list for after those: The Surge 2 - a bit janky but it's far better than the first one and has a lot of interesting concepts with some very memorable boss fights Hellpoint - super low budget indie souls-like that is actually the most like Dark Souls. Imagine Dark Souls crossed with Dead Space. Now imagine a game nowhere near as good as either. It's like that. Yet somehow still decent, if you can forgive it's jank. Mortal Shell - It's a bit one note but has a lovely oppresive atmosphere Lords of the Fallen / The Surge - Worth a play as they are mega cheap in every sale. Just don't expect anything amazing. Ashen - Think this is actually alright but to my shame I keep forgetting about it Darksiders 3 / Remnant: From the Ashes - I'm grouping these together as they are made by the same studio and are looser souls-likes. D3 bored me very quickly. remnant is not too bad at all but a bit dull at points. Worth it if it's going cheap though Code Vein: Dark Souls with boobs. I gave up 2/3s of the way through, it's bollocks. I tried to like it. But it's bollocks. Jedi: Fallen Order: Didn't finish this either. Something didn't feel quite right with it. Immortal Unchained: Hard to track down as it was withdrawn from sale. I got hold of it but it's quite shit and I don't think I'll go back to it. 2d Soulslikes include: Salt and Sanctuary - Very much Dark Souls but 2D. It's really good. Not played the sequel yet. Hollow Night / Blasphemous - They are often called 2D souls-likes but I consider them more metroidvanias. HK is awesome and Blasphemous is good as well, but with some flaws. There's loads of other 2D games that are cited as souls-likes like Dead Cells and so on, but they aren't really. Thanks! I’ve done des, ds123, bb, sekiro and Elden ring (I lie though, I jumped over to ds3 before finishing ds2, but other than that I’ve finished all of them, but none are thoroughly rinsed like bb). It’s really been a second (third?) wind for my love of video games. Just such engrossing stuff! of those on your list I’ve tried all the 2d ones, and I found them all to be good/great but I’ve not finished any of them. I think blasphemous is close, hollow knight nowhere near the end, and s&s fell victim of my move to the sofa and console gaming, and it’s stuck on my pc. Nioh I’ll give a proper try, just started no 1 once when it was free on epic, but again, I’ll get it on Xbox or ps. Hearing it has more grinding for gear does put me off a bit, though. I’ve tried Jedi (got a fair bit through, got pissed at the awful map/layout of some world I got stuck on), bounced off code vein, mortal shell and the surge2. It’s funny how hard it is to capture that weird from magic formula! Of those I’ve mentioned I kinda feel like S&s was closest, weirdly enough. Also I’ve never tried Dead Space(!) so might need to remedy that. It’s on game pass and everything. |

Don't play Dead Space. Wait til the remake! Hopefully they do a good job of it.
In all honesty. I'm not sure there's any point in playing Nioh over Nioh 2. Nioh 2 improves over it in every way, but also reuses a lot of Nioh stuff, so I think it's better to jump in to that.
Nioh 2 is my favourite non FROM souls game if that helps. Don't worry about gear grinding, that's never really an issue. At least, not unless you want it to be. It's very good indeed and well worth your time.

Yeah, the worst part of the loot in Nioh is sorting through it all but I never felt like I needed specific equipment for a build or anything like that. Just going with the highest number/best looking stuff works well enough

Despite her best efforts to paint me red in blood, the Queen of Yharnam is now dead and that platinum is finally mine! After 7+ long years and with the priceless help of our Danno with that dreadful Watchdog of the defiled dungeon, I can put this to rest; unless I seek out any remaining chalice dungeons that is!!! PS bichii so sorry for bumping this without concrete news of a sequel, it won't happen again  |

Thank y'all  I don't think I'll be uninstalling BB any time soon, to be honest, there are some weapons I'd like to upgrade/test and I'll replay that final boss battle(s) and/or try NG+!!!
Edit: but JuniorFE wants that Elden Ring platinum first, so i must get on with our combined 3rd playthrough!!! |

Am I the only person that didn't realise what the little circle under the vial and bullet counters was for? I'm sure I had noticed it before, but I only just worked out it indicates whether you are in your weapon's trick mode or not.

Bloody hell. After a few beers and a smoke I thought it might be a laugh to roll a new bloodborne character - you know, just for shits and giggles.
Three hours later, I'm trying to get my souls back but found the shortcut at least.
Christ, if ever a game was to be remade on the ps5 it's this!
