They're Alnico Classic Pros, which are modelled after 57s if the internet can be trusted. Thanks for the tip with the mesh, yeah that's what I was going to do, I already ordered a set of these if that's what you mean. Correct and you’ve just jogged my memory. So the Probuckers are the Burstbuckers and these are the 57s. I had the Classic Pros in a 335 Pro I sold they were very good. Yes those are the types of cloths I meant. A lot of people online will say use steel wool but these cloths don’t create the magnetic debris your pickups love to attract so they are the better option really. Heads up though if you need to replace them in future you can probably get a bigger pack with feet templates cheaper without the Dunlop badge.

I need to get some of them, feels like a nice thing to do between string changes. I like that age has relic’d this as I don’t have to be too careful with it because I’m a clumsy fucker.

Anyone got knowledge of active pickups and wiring?
I have a 81/85 in my ibanez. I have a single coil SA to add to the HSH setup but never got round to it.
I have a 3 selector switch already. Am I right in thinking I literally just solder one wire to the power and another to the middle selector?
My understanding with these pickups I'll never have a combination of pickups active. Will either be the 81/sa or 85 based on the three selector position?
Otherwise I'll get the solderless conversion. But seems pointless when the 81/85 were professionally installed.

Found someone selling a 2002 mim strat for 250.... seems to good to be true. Been sent pics and now obvious signs of it being fake. Tempted even if it is lol. For that price I would prob turn it into a parts caster and upgrade bits anyway....

I’m no fender expert but there’s nothing that strikes me as fake with those pics, the truss insert looks right, string tree placement etc. lProbably worth a punt for 250

Yeah thats what I thought. Seems genuine on the chat. Sent pics etc.
All the little bits seem to check out, serial is correct format, logo in right place. Right frets and truss rod with open plastic.

Sweet gonna get it then and have a little project.
Thinking of stripping it, Olympic white/nitro and upgrade the bridge/pickups etc and have a top spec mim for a decent price

Yeah, a SRV rep, I could understand. They're clearly a business making dodgy copies, though, not just someone selling a guitar, wherein the fakery seems more pointless.

To be fair they don't seem to be pretending to be the real thing?
I guess you could buy one of those and the add the logos on and try and dupe someone on Facebook haha

the seller might have bought it unsuspectingly for a similarly low price without really knowing much about guitars

Only thing making me nervous is it doesn't show up on the serial checker but that doesn't seem out of the ordinary for old MIM.
The fender player series are at 600-700 now. Which I guess will only create more fakes. Pretty sure the entry MIM started at 499 a few years ago

In extremely First World Problems land, the big 40th birthday present ES-355 I ordered 18 months ago arrived, but the finish wasn’t what I expected. Peach were really very good about it, happy to do whatever to make it right. Real shame because it sounded sublime in the promo video they shot, I just know would’ve been looking at resprays in 6 months. So I’ve got to wait another 18 months for the replacement to come in from Gibson now
