I went off Ministry when I seen how much of an asshole Al Jourgensen is. That video that went round of him pissing on stage while crew are setting everything up. That being said, I did enjoy their set at Knotfest 2019 considerably more than I expected to.

I've mostly drifted away from the screamy shouty stuff in favour of classic stuff from the 70's and 80's, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Filth.

While I do enjoy their music somewhat, mostly for its grandiose cinematic feel, I really cannot stand his "voice"

I still have a soft spot for Cradle of Filth. Kinda like his voice weirdly.

To crossover with the punk thread Dani Filth gave Famous Monsters 6Ks out of 5 when he reviewed it for Kerrang

CoF are good fun. In its way his voice is lot more expressive than a lot of 'real' singers' are.

Is Damnation the Leeds festival? I have a dim memory of a nasty hotel, throwing up a fair bit, and a lot of metal

I may be misremembering. Embarrassingly that's why I bought it because I was a massive CoF fan. Still am to be honest, but only the older stuff from Vempire up until Midian.

I recall seeing Dream Theater at Wembley Arena. I did think beforehand it was too big a venue for them but they pulled it off, and the place didn't feel empty.
They seem to be one of those bands that you don't hear much about but somehow have a big and fairly dedicated fan base.
They did the big video screens and everything.

It's a Dillinger kind of morning:

Dillinger - what a great band, miss those nutters. They were around at the right time of my life to get the most I reckon though, remember a few mad shows in my early twenties.
But - for me it's more of a new Iron Maiden album kind of day!
Haven't listened yet, going to sit down and give it some proper attention tonight (what innuendo), Friday party time...
Pretty favourable reviews all round, not changing the world but apparently it's at least good!

Yeah my vinyl should be arriving later today. Really looking forward to it. I know it's just "more Maiden", but my life would be that little bit shitter if there wasn't any more Maiden.

Forgot that was today, listening now.
I think an average track length of 8 minutes is taking the piss a bit though.

I got into them a bit later than most (I didn't, and still don't like, Calculating Infinity - blasphemy, I know) - but the three times I caught them were amazing. incidentally, I was at their last gig in Manchester with my mate. They'd saved 43% Burnt as their final song, so he decided to have some sort of mini-fit and passed out just before they started it. Gig was brought to an end not long after. He was fine, but I'll bet that crowd was pissed.

Never really got into the proper Dillinger Escape Plan stuff, but remember loving the EP they did with Mike Patton.

New maiden album getting some brilliant reviews. Need to wait for a decent chunk of time to sit down and listen to it properly.

Had my first listen of it earlier and its a big thumbs up from me. Then again I've always been a fan of the Harris epics.

Just getting to the end of my first listen. It's epic, and good.
May be getting ahead of myself but I think it's my favourite since Brave New World or at least a tie with AMOLAD - not that any have been bad.

The first time I've not been able to listen to a Maiden album on launch day since I got into them 18 years ago. Stupid adult life.
Maybe next week...

It was alright. Same issue as the last few which is that there's nothing really on it that jumps out and is memorable like their best stuff. Nothing since matter or life and death has for me. And a bunch of songs in a row with the same meandering starts rears thin. And crap production.
It's a meh for me but less of a meh than the last two. Better than expected but also exactly what I expected at the same time.

They're not the maiden of old that's for sure. But I do like this maiden, even if I've got to be in a slightly different mood to listen to them. See weirdly I think the production is better than it has been of late. At least in terms of Bruce's vocals. Still too much bass but that'll never change. It is the Steve Show after all.

Any fans of LANDMVRKS here? I'm just getting into them and they're incredible... they have some soft parts (much improved on their newer albums) but also some of the heaviest stuff I've ever heard Also they sound great live: youtu.be/G9h3r-HtrFg?t=2445

The new Maiden vinyl has just arrived. I've read the comments above and not sure what to expect. Last one I bought was seventh son, so here goes

Ok, so I've got the new maiden album on. I'm still on side 1 and while the first track didn't really interest me on the first listen, the rest have been pretty good.
But bloody hell, what the fuck are they playing at with the mix/pressing? It sounds fucking awful. Had to really fuck about with mixer just to get it half decent!
