You should get in on it too, I play with my daughter and it's good to bond over, my favourite move is downing one half of a team and carrying them over to her for her to finish off.
On second thoughts that's probably not the behaviour I want to encourage 😅

Fucksake, I’m starting to feel cursed this season. No victories yet, but I must have come second at least 10 times already. Might play the Lego mode for a bit to see if that recaptures my mojo.

I'm not really arsed about Fortnite but I've had some fun in Rocket Racing earlier and might even do the music one if they'll let me use my explorer guitar from Guitar Hero 2 at some point.
My nephew happily declared the Lego mode better than Minecraft after only playing it for 10 minutes. I'm not sure how he can tell at this point, but I'm glad he's having fun.
Could definitely see myself dipping into the racing though.

It's definitely easier to get into than Minecraft, due to holding your hand more. It's much more fleshed out than I expected, but I doubt it'll hold the kids interest as long as Minecraft has, just due to the lak of actual blocks for freehand building and mining. It does have physics though, so attaching thrusters to things and blowing things up is always fun. Plus it has the benefit of basically being a free version of Minecraft Realms, so it's a place where kids can hang out and chat with mates while messing around. TBH, the only reason we got into Fortnite was during the pandemic it was a place where the kids could hang out and chat with their mates. This is like that, but with less shooting downed players in the head with shotguns.  |

Started playing the Lego mode the other night, super polished. Spent a few hours to it when I only wanted to give it a quick go 😅
Looks beautiful, probably the best looking Lego game I've seen!

Really comes into it's own in a group. There are 6 of us on a server as key holders and it's great dipping in and out and contributing whenever you can.

These updates have made me sad that I can't use my Rock Band gear on Xbox Series X!
Would love for this to kick start that genre again. I've got kids now that would be all over that.

I’ve struggled to be online at the right time for actual multiplayer shenanigans in the past, but having a shared world where we can just join whenever is convenient and potter around for a bit sounds ideal. |

I'm enjoying the Rocket Racing quite a bit, especially now I've gotten the hang of extended drifting for excessive boosts.
It generally performs great on my pc too, although I sometimes see other racers teleport past me, which I assume is the network code.
Also liking the Festival mode now that I've got the hang of the controls. The dual-handed nature left me rather uncoordinated at first, but I've mostly got the hang of it now. I wish the tracks were a bit cheaper in the store, or that they sold them in bundles.
I guess the fact you can use them in Battle Royale is also a bonus. But I assume that's just the loading screen. I wonder if you can play owned tracks on car radios?
The problem is that there's now just way too much stuff going on. I've hardly touched Battle Royale or Lego mode, and BR in particular has a whole bunch of new stuff to try and learn. But I haven't.
Plus there's like a billion quests to do, with the BR ones, the Lego ones, the Festival ones, the Racing ones, the PR Pass, the Festival pass, the various free skin quests, etc..
They used to be quite stingy about giving away free skins, but right now they're giving them away by the dozen.
PS/ Don't forget to log in each day if you want to get the Winterfest free stuff. (There doesn't seem to be a way to catch up on missed days this year, is there?)

I missed Winterfest day 1 and got 2 items on day 2 so I reckon they probably stack until you’ve claimed them. Agree that the amount of challenges and quests across the different modes is overwhelming.

Just checking in to say I’m so, so tempted to buy March Of The Pigs by Nine Inch Nails… in Fortnite. Utterly ridiculous crossover opportunity- but I have to assume that’s what they’re expecting from players like me, you don’t see much 90s industrial on Gen-Z Tik Tok.

Ha that's awesome. Yeah it's amazing how many musicians actually support the game and do a good job too. Either its the moolah or maybe through through kids, but it's always high quality.
Even the licences, just unlocked Solidsnake last night, it's awesome.
It's getting a bit like Weird Al, if you've not been covered by him, or licenced by Fortnite, can you say that you've truly 'made it'? 😅

My kids want to know why no Harry Potter collab.
I can see the reasons myself, but I do think it'd be rather funny watching a bunch of Harry, Ron and Hermiones run around with assault rifles and shotguns.
I just wish the songs weren't so expensive. 500vb for one song seems kinda a rip off. If they were in packs of 3-5 for 1000vb then I'd definitely pick a few up.

So Disney have bought a $1.5 billion stake in Epic which will help create new experiences in Fortnite.
The game continues to surprise me honestly. The Lego colab was pretty massive in itself, but getting Disney on board too in this manner?
Epic seem the closest to actualising that damn metaverse when you consider all that's going for it.
