At least it wasn't a bunch of middle aged men with euphoric looks on their facesdipping their fingers into the pick-a-brick boxes, like you see in the official Lego stores sometimes.
Shudder.

Disney tax strikes again. £169 for that? I'm currently building the Dune set and it is blowing my mind some of the techniques they've used. Looks small but it's 2k+ pieces, so that's a relatively fair price surely? Ornithopter is 1369 pieces and £150. What is a fair price for Lego these days? I think they generally take the piss with licenced sets. The Ornithopter uses less pieces, but it's massive. Also you're paying for the exclusive mini figures, not just the build itself. Also I picked up the Ornithopter for £105 from George. It's been heavily discounted a few times.

In fairness all of their prices are absolute pisstakes these days. Just saying it doesn't seem that bad in the grand scheme of things if you compare the launch price of both sets. Not really fair comparing a heavily discounted price Vs an unreleased set.

Of course. But that's why I tend to wait until they reduce them. It looks like Nightmare is an exclusive, so less likely to go on a deep sale.

Plus I don't overly buy this piece count vs price ratio. They could put in 300 stud bricks!

10p per piece is usually a good estimate.
Not all bricks are equal though!

Finished the Ornithopter. It was a pretty complicated build! The wings don't flap as much as it should, apparently I can adjust the joints a bit. Not a big issue anyway. I just didn't really factor in space.. it's getting to a point where I need to start rotating sets out

Maybe wall mount it? I'm quite tempted by that one too.
Wall mounting was my plan for my falcon set, but I've mostly given up on that as a few bits must've got lost when the cats knocked it over years ago before I dismantled it. They're not structural so I guess I can just crack on with it and look on brick link for the missing bits later, but it kind of takes the fun out of it when there's an incomplete section.
Might just crack on with the Batwing instead

Yeah I could do. I've wall mounted the Batwing. That was fairly easy, as it has a hook at the back. You'll love building it.

Got my first lego set for decades (apart from helping the kids build their xmas presents when they were young). This might be a bad idea...

Expert advice request: How do you lot rate knock-offs like Cada and Mould King? Decent or not worth saving a few quid for inferior products?

I've built the Mould King Razor Crest (not the UCS one) and it was fine, down to the Minifigures and stickers.
I have the midi falcon and star destroyer waiting to go too, but not sure what brand they are.
You can from the feel of the blocks and how they go together that it's not Lego, but the quality is good enough and you save a fortune.

A guy at work has seen me selling some of my retired sets in the internal slack spaces and messaged to ask for help in pricing up some old LEGO sets that he's had in storage and now wants to shift, but doesn't know where to start. Obviously agreed and asked him what he was selling...
"10179 UCS Millennium Falcon 79008 Pirate Ship Ambush 10237 Tower of Orthanc 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep They're all unopened. The falcon is in an acrylic graded box, for reasons"

Considering they re-release Star Wars sets all the time. Unless you are keen on having that particular version, just get the cheaper one.

I think because that was the first Falcon UCS it holds value a bit better. From memory user Boo at the old place bought one for quite a significant sum.

Yeah, they used to go for £4-5K, now they tend to sit around £2-3k due to the 2017 release bumping the price down a bit. He sent me a photo and it's a first edition (there were two of the original) and in perfect condition. If they all go for alright money, I think he's looking at between £4-5.5k for those 4 sets. He's just gonna put them up on Ebay for their respective average market values from Bricklink and see what happens.

Dropped by the Lego store yesterday and saw the Zelda and Nightmare Before Christmas sets in built form and relieved (spend wise) to say came away feeling neither were essential (taking account that I am not a head over heels fan of either franchise but definitely love Z games).
The Z set is quite plain and the traditional form tree is good but not great imo. That said the mini figs are some of the best I have ever seen and I would drop £10 a piece on those individually for sure!
The NBC is better detailed but the big let down for me is the plain yellow disc moon. Bizarre decision not to do a graded colour unique piece given it is the most iconic feature or even a sticker would have added a lot to the atmosphere of the set imo.
Did not get a chance to see the interiors of either set so opinions only on external looks only so pure face value.

I thought the Lego Deku Tree looks a bit disappointing, I've still bought it though FFS.
Can't build it til I've got space whenever we move but hope in that time they do the obvious thing and create a Hyrule Castle set.
