Hm. Might have to leave it then. Not sure I'm a fan of Vanillaware's style anyway. The visuals are very detailed but the animation really suffers as a result. Even character walking animations look awkward

I'm eagerly awaiting Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars: Reforged Release day. 19th September
Which will be slow narrative driven game.
So in meantime I decided to complete a game which ain't that good but looks great and is brainless fun action.
Crysis 2.
It's recently destroyed modern city is a little different setting to games i have been playing in last few years.hence im finding it fairly enjoyable
I only got 5h in last time before moved to better games as I got bored.
This time I think in next 2 weeks I will be able to complete it as I don't want to pick another game before I'll move to broken sword.

Playing through En Garde, which was free with Prime some months ago. It's basically a Zorro parody with Arkham-style combat.
It's a bit harder than the average Arkham game, because most enemies, aside from the basic mooks, *must* be stunned in some way before you can even begin damaging them, and getting surrounded isn't nearly as harmless as in Batman games - if there's more than one enemy, the one(s) you are not focusing on will spam unblockable attacks, forcing you to dodge and interrupting your chains. Basically, using the environment is key. It's also quite a riot. Silly episodic plot, silly one liners, silly combat. I like it.

Unsurprisingly as I've been overdoing it for the last few months, I was hit with a flu / bug thing and spent the weekend moping about between my bed and the couch feeling sorry for myself. Even missed out on going to see an interview with Irvine Welsh yesterday (but my wife made it up to me by attending and getting me a book signed by him, which was awesome).
Anyway. I played a lot of games instead.
The Mortuary Assistant Janky but good fun. Lots of good supernatural stuff going on but unless I've missed something it's incredibly easy. Unlocked two endings in a row by burning the right bodies and can't really see how you could fail. Will ultimately be shortlived but it's good spooky fun while it lasts.
Dredge This is cool. Simultaneously relaxing and terrifying in equal measure.
The Sinking City I started this on PS4 and got distracted. Bought again on PS5 and I've now finally got passed where I was last time. It's janky but is so lovecrafty it doesn't matter. Really enjoying it this time around actually.
Alone in the Dark (new one) Far better than I thought it would be. Loving it.

I shouldn't have started this - it's like crack.
Stardew meets Terraria meets Factorio.

Yeah big fan of The Sinking City and looking forward to the sequel.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits Beautiful looking game, great music and VA. Everything but the combat is great and the over use of the bomb puzzles towards the end. Main story is the right length.
4/5

Finished a lovely run on Dead Cells last night. Got to the Queen and did her first time. Ice Blast and King Sceptre buffed to do damage on frozen enemies. Get rekt
Swear this game used to be insanely hard when I first played it on release, but I can't tell what's changed and just how much I've improved having played Hollow Knight, Rain World, Elden Ring and Sekiro in the intervening period. Got the Boss Cell though so guess I'll find out soon how nasty it gets.

How many have you got? I'd say once you get to 2, it's not much worse getting the rest (as you're already getting used to not having flask refills at that point anyway). Things change quite a bit once you get all 5 and I never finished a 5 Boss Cell run as I just couldn't be arsed
Constant health drain Love the Queen boss fight, especially if you parry her

Just the one at the moment. I beat the knight boss whose name I forget, but I didn't understand the consequence of taking those buffs at the start which meant I didn't get a BC for that run.

Yeah big fan of The Sinking City and looking forward to the sequel. Didn't know there was a sequel in the works. That's great! I am also looking forward to it. The first one has really grabbed me this time around and I'm loving it. I seem to have "got" it a bit more. I remember my first playthrough barely managing to level up but after putting my first two points in the skills that give me more experience, I'm racking up points like nobody's business and now have both health upgrades, both melee upgrades and ones that let me hold more materials and do better at crafting bullets.

I might need to revisit this one, I bought the delux edition a few years back, but think not for the first time I found navigation/map infuriating. This is probably on me, I think I have accessibility issues with map reading (genuinely) as I seen to struggle with this across multiple games. I just want breadcrumbs Just checked TA, I have played 6 hours with my last of my 4 chevoes unlocked on Aug 2021.

Yeah it expects you to do the work yourself which can be a bit of a chore, but once you settle in to it, it kind of becomes second nature and I quite like looking over my notes to check what I need to do next and then toddling off to do it.

persona 3 episode aigis aka the answer
got all the dlc free as gamepass perk and the DLC is just a remake of the extra content that was part of psp or ps2 ver. its all combat and its a shame as its remake they could of improved the content. Its not worth buying at all but if you have gamepass ultimate and want more persona combat, its fine

Also Sherlock Holmes The Awakened remake is on sale for PS as well. Think it ends today. I bought it. Naturally.

There's plenty of story for Aigis and it explains the events from the end of the original game. It's well worth it if you're invested in the story and characters and want some closure

Not tried it yet tbh! Seems to use a similar detective system to TSS so I'm expecting to like it...

I just checked and I had £7 in my wallet. So I got the Lucid Dreamer bundle. Looking forward to giving both a go, can't go wrong at that price!

Nice one Rob. I will say that The Sinking City does require your patience to get into it. My tips are:
1) Just take your time, soak it up and enjoy the horribly oppressive atmosphere 2) Once you start getting exp and get a knowledge point, make sure (I think you have to buy one skill first) you put two points into the EXP boost skills. After that, your levelling becomes much easier 3) Stay out of infested areas unless you just want to run and grab resources. I've got a machine gun, shotgun, molots and grenades and only now venture in regularly 4) You will NEVER have loads of ammo. Scavenge when you can and always craft ammo when possible (this is why if you're brave it's sometimes worth running into infested areas). You can upgrade your melee ability as well which you should do next, so you can whack the little dudes and save ammo. Most encounters take place in an area with resources to hand though so you can at least make a few bullets. 5) It doesn't fuck about. Prepare to scour each investigation area, check your notes, and be prepared to travel to buildings to looks for addresses, be it the police station, city hall, hospital or more
It's an easy game to bounce off of. I did first time. Second time I got a bit more into it. Now I love it but only after levelling up a bit and getting used to the combat encounters. It's very cool and quite unique.

I loved having to go to the library to look stuff up and all that
I don't remember the combat being that involved, to be honest. I can only remember one enemy type that was a bit scary

After 45 hours or so, I'm nearing the end of Rise of the Ronin.
Still not sure how I feel about it overall.

Fighting through nyc in crysis 2.
The city is more devastated in second half of the game which i do NOT enjoy as much.
It becomes a bit post apocalyptic. Better was the first few hours of game where city was abandoned just 48h or so before with little damage to time and outside forces.
While the fighting damage is acceptable to some degree there is little too much of the alien devastation done.
