Nioh stuff, basically
- the ability to change stat scaling on weapons - the ability to permanently imbue an element on a weapon (I know it was kind of weak but I liked it) - Move martial arts (Im happy with unique ones being locked) - 90% of thrown weapons moved onto the quick use d-pad rather than having to scroll to throw a fucking stone

I’d love to see legendary/unique gear, but alas, not even Nioh 2 has that.
And yeah, better loot in general. Don‘t give me a 2-star trash weapon in a huge hidden chest in NG+.

Couldn't place what was amiss, but that's it. Keep bow and crossbow in ranged, and have everything else in the item slots.
Come to that. I didn't use anything in my item slots apart from the healing. I didn't need to touch anything else.

Im sure there are a few OP items in there. It took me ages to realise how OP the cats are in Nioh 2 because, like every other RPG, I never use consumables.

Yeah, the items felt a bit redundant. I didn't use any apart from the consumable health (dragon powder? Can't remember what it was called) in two tight boss fights when my flask ran out.

I think I may need to download Nioh 2 again and continue, I never finished the DLC.

So, may RNJesus be with you Otherwise I agree

Yeah I think I did that very thing by adding fire to one of my spears.

RNG was not with me, then. I never picked up a single elemental weapon in my whole play through

According to a youtube commentator so you may try that with a Luck build...
Disclaimer: Haven't tried that myself...

Aaand dusted. ~34 hours, final boss down in (I think) the third try. Some thoughts (spoilered for brevity and some mild spoilers) Honestly, as much fun as I undoubtedly had with it, it definitely has its problems. Apart from the issues everyone else has already mentioned, it really needs some sort of tracker for its various collectibles like Nioh had with the Kodama, having to basically rush through every stage again for the one Cicada Shell or panda I missed isn't a very exciting prospect... And the companions being a bit more useful would also be nice, as it is they're mostly meatshields and loot piñatas. Some bizarre ideas on the loot too. Salvaging a weapon gives you jewel fragments that... Sell for more than the weapon's value? Embedding has to be done by first removing something then embedding something else? Why not a straight swap? No preview before applying a weapon/armour skin? etc. The spells also felt very all-or-nothing. There were maybe a couple per element worth using (plus, situationally, the imbues) and everything else just paled in comparison. Definitely could have used some balancing there IMO. Then there's the bosses. Apart from the first boss (where you have barely anything to try), Lu Bu (who is Lu Bu), Lu Bu's subordinate not!Genichiro (and even he went down second try in his duel) and the final boss (who... is the final boss ) pretty much everyone else folded like laundry even when I played badly, and icicles on Lu Bu aside I was neither overlevelled nor using broken stuff (unlike, say, my Malenia first-try-kill with Rivers of Blood). I guess the fire guy with the scythe could trip up some people, but that's about it besides the four above. With some QoL polish, more varied environments and some balancing work on the bosses/spells it has the makings of a great game. As it is though, my view is that it's hard carried by its combat. All of the above said, the combat itself was immensely satisfying overall. The times where I felt it was the game being unfair rather than me fucking up were few and far between, and the system clicked with me arguably more than any Soulslike thus far besides maybe Elden Ring. I probably won't be bothering with NG+, but any DLC will be welcome

Also, are DadFE and I crazy or does the game's main theme/leitmotif remind anyone else of the Sherlock series' main theme?

Apparently, the new patch increases the chance of 5-star equipment dropped in NG+, as well as giving indications whether the player has found the various collectibles (like cicadas, pandas etc.) in a mission:
Too bad JuniorFE completed the collectibles achievements before the patch dropped

All of the QoL stuff really should have been day one.
And its kind of crazy the first boss made it through playtesting. It shouldnt have taken this many patches to nerf him (although he actually was even harder in the first demo, so that was him tuned)

Looks like they may have fixed that annoying thing where its really hard to critical strike a winded opponent you arent locked onto when youre fighting multiple enemies.
I missed out on so much damage in the fatal threeway because I would parry the idiot who YOLO'd in from off screen but was actually fighting another guy.

Par for the course for my luck with patches, really. I'm pretty sure the Sword of Night and Flame nerf in Elden Ring also dropped either right before or right after I got the thing, too. Although I'd argue it's not "too bad" that I did it while it was harder. If anything, it makes it more of an achievement

Come to think of it, either I got lucky with that threeway or the nerf it got was big... Most of the time they just stood there, nothing like the dogpile I'd heard others experienced 😅

But yeah, reading through the patch notes it's basically a lot of stuff that should have been in the initial release. The burial flag interaction, the equipment comparison, the collectible indicators, giving Cups of Cordiality to any warrior instead of having to find a mission where you can call them, sorting options not constantly resetting...

I think the nerf was just that. Previously they all attacked you non-stop, all at once like they were in 28 days later but they tweaked the AI to so they waited their turn a bit more.
It just meant you were constantly getting hit from off screen if you didnt kite them around the level like the pied piper.

They got nerfed massively. I went from barely getting a hit in to steamrolling them.

Completed the game.
Does nioh 2 get better because at the beginning it's really hard or should I play sekiro?

It depends what you're after - if you want more parrying with a bit more on the stealth side and some comedy running away from enemies, you'll like Sekiro. If you want an initially difficult but ultimately extremely smooth and expressive fighting system with loads of different styles to play, go for Nioh 2.
I recently read an interview with the head of Koei Tecmo, Kou Shibusawa/Yoichi Erikawa - a man in his 70s now - saying he had to stop playing the first Nioh after his third playthrough at 250 hours in because it was taking over his life. And he spent 12 years getting the thing made in the first place!

Sekiro >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>nioh 2 but nioh 2 is still a 9/10 game.

Anyone who thinks nioh is better than sekiro is mental. I'm mean it would be a good debate about fighting styles as players would have their preferences but for world design, visuals, music, boss fights, atmosphere etc sekiro is a different sport all together.

I’ve found Sekiro a bit gimmicky and one-note, by some margin the worst From game. I guess it’s great if you like that pretty much one playstyle the game offers, but I didn’t. Might be a great game, but it’s a terrible Soulsbourne game.

It's comfortably froms best game apart from bloodborne. BB and sekiro soooo much better than the souls series and elden ring. But of course that doesn't mean that they all aren't 9 and 10/10 games. . Going from sekiro or BB to the other games the combat becomes painful. Same with wo long, wo has superb combat system and so does nioh games. Team ninjas games are just let down by awful stories, boring worlds and not great visuals/art.

See there's the problem with posting opinions as facts, for me Sekiro was froms worst game as there was no diversity at all. It's the only gave they have made in that format that I didn't bother finishing.

As much as I’ve grown to love sekiro. Nioh 2 is better imo. But both are great.

Thanks for the reply's I think I'll stick with nioh 2 for a bit and then try sekiro.
The weapon skill tree is ridiculous it must take ages to max out a nioh 2 character.

Setting, design, soundtrack, bosses, Sekiro has the advantage. Combat? Afraid not. One note melee combat with the use of your prosthetic tools and skills tied to a consumable resource.
