Basically head right and down. When you see the sort of diving board bit of wood where you can drop its down there and right. But really watch out for the standard goons flurry attack. It's fucking lethal at low levels

I've already got the CF. Managed to kill the skellies outside then made a run for it once inside. I really need to grab a bow for luring though, would make things a bit easier.

I think there's a bow on the ramparts in 4-1, you go up the stairs instead of turning left to get the CF+flee in terror from Big Bony Bastard

Easiest bow to get first is compound short bow on the top of the tower in 1-2 where the dragon keeps incinerating everything.
And compound long bow as others have mentioned in 4-1. Get to front door, go left, watch floor trap, go up (as opposed to left where you got the CF from) and just before you go forward (where there is 1 melee skelly and the two twats above the front door with bows), go left instead. Before you move look up, and you'll see a skeleton. That's where you're headed. Go forward, and go and do all that bullshit, and when you get the opportunity, you'll be able to chose a way that takes you sparkly. Around there, you'll see a way to get to that skelly. The bow is on the floor just next to him.

And don't forget to roll off the wall to get the regenerator ring (just past the 2 bow skeletons above front door). Warning, though. If you do this early on before opening a fog door later in the level, it is possible to get trapped there. If so, you'll have to suicide or evacuate if you have it.
I thought there was a way back from there, but I couldn't bloody work it out the other week in the remake

There is so much I’ve forgotten in this game 😂
I think I’ll grab a bow from somewhere then see about that mace. Need to change my armour. Fat rolling is not working for me.

Done. Doesn’t help my character though. Also getting some funny looks from the other train passengers.

Just wear the armour? Or everything else apart from the armour? That's how I do it till i find something a bit lighter. You'll find something soon.
Sod the passengers. Take their trousers off too.

I’ve got some rags, maybe I’ll just Chuck those on. Not sure how much effect armour really has anyway. Never really kept me alive in the past.

Trousers are off and we’re fast rolling. Got the compound bow too. Not sure whether to finish off 1-2 and level up a bit before taking on 5-1.

Aha, good progress! Addicted as usual I see. Good, good ... 5 1 is only hard for 2 reasons at your level 1 - that flurry attack the standard goons do is lethal. You can probably block one, but you definitely can't block two attacks of it, stamina wise 2 - It's a fucking nightmare to navigate, BUT, you're only going to the diving board wood area, dropping down, panic like fuck dealing with the 2 flurry bastards as soon as you drop down, and then you should be OK to get the mace (on the right as you fall down)

Or yeah, Tower Knight. What do you prefer? Bearing in mind killing Tower Knight does fuck all for you at the minute, as you can't do 1-3 yet and still need to kill dragon as well as Tower Knight to open side gate.
But levels, yeah, maybe it's worth it. Personally, I'd go 4-1 for levels than 1-2, as they give around 294 souls for each skelly

Yeah I was thinking tower knight for levels and that it’s probably an easier option. Would like to kill the dragon too but need to buy about 1000 arrows and have a spare 2 hours.
4-1 not a bad shout.

Dragon takes about 2 minutes if you do it right!

Yeah, was gonna say, take 250 arrows or so. You don't need millions, just a lot.
Or 2 poison clouds, but that's probably out of your price range at the minute

If you want to do it quicker you need to,
- get a bow with good range, the compound long bow from 4-1 - do most of 2-1, collect as much spiderstone as you can, making sure you get the crystal lizard that drops spiderstone near the rock chuckers. Always wear the thief’s ring around lizards - do most of 3-1, collect the clever rat’s ring - put your souls into strength and DEX so you can use the bow - do the first bit of 4-1 a few times to get enough souls for arrows, maybe a level or two - when in 1-2 kill all the soldiers, get on the first guard tower, equip clever rat ring, go back down, hold shield up and let the dragon fire hit you so you go to less than 30% HP - go back up and position your bow crosshairs where the dragon flies past and fire away. Check that you’re hitting it by moving the view to see it’s energy bar if you need to
Takes a couple of minutes and 30 arrows or so. I realise that there’s a bit of work before hand but your character does benefit from that work and it’s better than a 2 hour slog
In general that is the best way to play Demon’s anyway, dip in and out of levels, collecting the equipment you need to make other levels more manageable. Never straight line it unless you purposefully want to make it harder

So basically make it a sticky bow yeah + rat ring = more damage?
I don't trust myself with only 30% hp - I always shy away from that.
It took me a while, but that was with literally a bow I'd just found on the floor. think it was under 300 arrows.
If you time it right, you can get two hits in per flyover, but it's easy to miss, and that means losing more arrows.
Still, you've only got to do this shit once, and then it's permanently done.
I agree on dipping in and out though, hence blessed mace from 5, then skellys in 4 for kit, then elsewhere to etc etc

You’re fine with the less than 30% HP as you’ve cleared everything out and it’s just you and the dragon

Having to side with Danno here! My luck would be falling off the tower to survive the fall but *only if* I had more than 30% health

Never played DS, it's the only "soulsborne" game I've not played. Just started it tonight and I'm going mad, are there literally no save/bonfire things? Only on the first world and whilst it's not that hard, I died quite far in and now right back at the start lol.

Worlds are split up into 3/4 parts, 1 at the start of each and there is a boss before the next one.
Levels are designed around opening shortcuts back to the start 'bonfire' before tackling the boss, allowing you to boss run quickly.

Just spent half an hour running via the shortcut in gates of bolaria to defeat the red eyed knight. Only now just realising I am not supposed to be going that way lol.
Thought he was a bit tough lol

Things with blue eyes = heads up Things with red eyes = nope, not yet
Yeah aim to unlock shortcuts everywhere. The levels look complicated and large, and they kind of are, but once you get your head around them, it'll start to make more sense.
One tip that should be in a bright neon fucking sign in the nexus is, "do not die in a world level in body form." You get body form by killing bosses mainly. When you kill a boss, go back to the nexus and kill yourself (yes really) by falling from a height.
The reason for this is an obtuse thing called world tendency. If you die in a world in body form, it shifts the world to black tendency. Killing bosses shifts it to white. White is easier, black is harder. Certain things happen in both tendencies but for a new player, you need to learn the levels and the enemies first before attempting world tendency stuff. Dying in the nexus doesnt affect world tendency.
I'd even recommend reading up on it on the wiki so you don't mess up
