The dash has i-frames. Damage deflection (from Athena bonuses) is decent - I particularly like it on dash or standard attack.
Dashing towards enemies can sometimes be the right call, but this isn't Returnal and it's sometimes a very bad idea. Some AoE attacks, particularly from bosses, can last for longer than the i-frames from dodging, so you want to be getting a bit of distance with your dodge.

Hades is great. Finished around 8 runs on switch. The story continues even after several runs. I love it personally. I also wasn't a fan at first.

Really don't like the bow, just unlocked the spear and will give that a try. The shield is great, my go to weapon
I think Children of Morta did progression better and didn't have to fight the same bosses again on each attaempt as it was spilt into 3 separate levels for each area. That game is also on gamepass and worth playing

I didn't like the bow at first, but the special can be fantastic with the right boons. Covers a huge area and is ridiculous fun if you get some kind of DOT boon

I didn't get chance to play this much yesterday due to the little one's birthday but had a couple of runs this morning which led me twice to a boss called Meg. The first run seemed to go on for ages before I got there and was far more challenging, the 2nd boss encounter was much harder but the run shorter(at least it felt that way!) Unlocked all the weapons in the little practice area that are on show, yet to try the spear. Had a good run with the shield. Think it's pretty great so far just need to get some quality time in with it.

First boss is comical with that spear. Spam square from back in my safe place, dodge now and again, profit.

Second boss down first try!
Wasn't that bad that one, although I feel I'd have been caught out with a slightly different build.
Again though, god bless saves. Need a break after scraping through 2 for the first time and I can actually close the app and do other stuff until I'm ready to go back. In your face, Returnal.

Yeah it's very much going to be an Achilles heel for me every playthrough too. It's a bit of a difficulty spike really.
I did get better each time though, only took me 3 goes to get through it. The pole is very good for that level.

So you aren't meant to dash towards and rush enemies like Returnal?
Whoops.
And agreed on the 2nd level being pish. Didn't bother having one more go last night because I hate lava levels.

It wouldn't be so bad with just lava, but it suddenly decides it needs shitloads of bomb enemies and fireball AOE traps at the same time too.
Wore my X button out.

I always found the second world pretty straightforward. It's the third that's a pain IMO, mainly due to the shield cunts.

The bow is God tier when you have the mod that lets you load your relic into it. Absolutely destroys stuff.
And yes Decks the shield is very viable, the mod to it that gives you multi shot with it is excellent

I don't find the second area too bad. There's lots of stuff around that can hurt you, but it's mostly predictable. The third is far worse, particularly when you get a bunch of those cunts with shields .

Loved the rapid fire on the bow. Wine boy's Festive Fog on the cast is good for the bomb enemies. Fire it off and concentrate on dodging the explosives. Festive Fog is great in general. Knock back on the spear is also fun - you can just dash attack enemies to bits

Yeah I've got Festive Fog on my current run saved at the start of Level 3. Really saved my skin a few times towards the end of 2.

Festive fog's ok, but it doesn't embed your shard in the enemy. That means any damage bonuses vs enemies with shards in them are completely negated.
I quite like the Zeus cast, with the chain lighting, or Poseidon's with the knockback.

I love this game. Done about 40 hours on it I think. 10+ successful runs. Did my first one with an 8 heat pact of punishment recently.
I just love that the challenge evolves from learning the combat into being about your choices. Make the wrong ones and your build won't sing and it'll be a slog. Nail the build and you feel like a god, slapping everything aside. It's so much fun.
Will gobble up any DLC that comes out. Yes please.

Quit the game during a run and your progress is saved at the start of the room you were in. When you resume the game, that save is deleted.
Why the fuck Returnal, whose runs were hours not minutes, couldn't do the same thing is beyond me.

It's a real eye opener. Having never really got into a rouge like before I never really noticed/cared.
If I'd played it after this, I feel I may have got more pissed off by it.
