Even if that was the case, it would still take me months to get to that point given my limited game time.

Teetering on the brink with this one. Kid 1 took a look but dismissed it, but kid 2 seems into it. Does anyone know, for the local splitscreen, can you set the difficulty per user? Like easy for him but normal for me? I assume not as I haven't seen any talk of "assists" like in, say, Mariokart.

Nah difficulty setting only changes the AI. The cars themselves are easy enough to control that any kid should be able to get round the tracks with them.

I'd say it's one difficulty for both players. Can't see it being possible to mix both with AI players as difficulty controls their speed.
Some of the longer tracks with 2 minute+ laps are a bit bloody frustrating when you inevitably boost at the wrong time and go flying out of bounds. Reset and you're in last place and the game bloody restricts you from using boost for a few seconds. Grrrr! Dropped it down to easy for a couple of particularly annoying tracks.

Thanks- he's decent at Mariokart so I'm sure he'll get round the tracks, I just heard some earlier comments about it being hard for kids on Normal difficulty. But if I have to set it to Easy and then trounce everyone that's no great shame

To be honest once you kind of "get it" it's pretty easy. To the point where I'm probably going to have to put it on hard.

I've finally upgraded KITT to legendary and I think it's my new favourite now.
I find the economy for the upgrade gears more worrying than the coins tbh. I've only been able to fully upgrade a couple of cars so far as there's no reward for it in the online races. It's either story mode rewards or scrapping.

I upgraded KITT immediately but I’ve got a better car. I’ve actually had it since I started playing, as it came from my 2nd blind box, and I’ve not found anything better yet. I only really use it for TTs though.

Do you get money for online races then? Might start dipping my toes in.

Seems to be 60 per race, and 70 for a win from what I've noticed. I've clocked a fair few afk'ers who I am assuming are just leaving it on to farm the 60 each race.
You get some really brilliant races on there though.

I'm in. Went for the version with season pass 1 so there's 10 extra cars and a Batman track or something.
Now just have to get home, cook tea, and get the kids off to their rooms so I have some uninterrupted gaming time to enjoy it.

Anyone else absolutely demolishing the races without so much as breaking a sweat, but struggle like fuck on any of the time trials? AI on normal, maybe I should bump it up.

I've found that it seems to scale a bit in the later races. Once you've got through that secret area that takes you up towards the north end of the map races have been an awful lot closer with a lot of 1 mistake = lose 3-4 places incidents, and I've used the same car pretty much throughout.

Oh just got the Turtles van. It's shit. My son has that in real life. I wish there was a way to add the cars you physically have at home. I'd love to zoom about the place in Luke's landspeeder

So it looks cool and you hear them shout cowbunga every now and again and the boost is a controllable meter rather than a switch off and on thing. Which would all be cool if it went round corners too.

And when you press the dedicated 'Blimp mode' button?

This is absolutely superb. Can’t remember the last time I had this much fun with an arcade racer. And the Track Editor is also great, once you get used to the controls.

Not dabbled with the track editor yet. Can you share creations online?

Yes you can. Seems a bit underdeveloped at the moment though. No pick of the day or featured levels etc. Maybe they’ll improve it. My first attempt is called “Basement Frolic” if you want to have a go.

Some of the liveries people have done for cars are fucking incredible.
The Knight Rider car is a bit too barrel rolly for my liking having played with it for a bit. Still haven't found a match for that Koenigsegg yet.
I do really love how each car seemingly has it's own unique physics like that though. It really is a brilliant game. You wouldn't have batted an eye if they'd have made this a street racer and called it Burnout.

The livery editor seems to be similar to GT Sport and some of the shit people were doing with that was unbelievable.
