I picked piloting as a starter perk thankfully. Didn't realise something as basic as boosting was locked behind it (how the fuck is ship combat possible without it?!) Thrusting not boosting. Boosting with RS gives you a burst of speed. Holding down RB cuts your engines without changing direction of travel or momentum so you can turn 180 degrees to shoot something behind you and then back, or let go of RB to re-engage the engines at any point to instantly change direction without the massive turning circle. In car terms Thrusting = Drifting.

I hate Bethesda's cities or towns because it's just a fucktonne of load screens. Just traversing the various quests on neon is endless loading into and out of shops, elevators, zones ... it's very tiring

Just done quest 'high price to pay'. I stayed at the lodge. My last hard save is a couple of hours back at this point. I'm a bit gutted

Eh, I accidentially sided with cannibals in Grim Dawn. It's just a game.

I imagine it does make a difference if you were planning to mop up quests with a particular character and… can’t, any more. I hard saved just before that quest and ended up with the outcome I’d have chosen anyway, but I can see how it would be frustrating otherwise.
At least until NG+ anyway…

I've recently come back to this and I'm finding it... tiring. For its scope it just feels so empty and unreactive. Having to constantly go through loading screens to find content is also killing my buzz.

I looked it up and there’s 3 or 4 specific places that have zero-G, so not a thing that can happen in random encounters unfortunately. It seems odd that they added it, even let you spend perks on improved zero-G abilities, when it’s that under-used. Held back for future DLC maybe? Correcting myself on the zero-g thing - it can happen when you board a ship you’ve disabled too. So not just 3 or 4 places, but only 3 or 4 places where it’s scripted / explained by something happening there. I was hoping that'd be the case. It makes perfect sense, plus that's my experience of disabling random ships so far. I think the jury's still out on whether you can guarantee zero-G by targeting specific systems though.

Picked her after binning Sarah off and never looked back. Hours of passive, half arsed wooing via inappropriately time conversations are all for nought. I'm not exactly sure what the benefit of 'going all the way' is/was but I cant get there now

Yeah, I had the same outcome. Hadn't made up my mind who to woo just yet and was leaning towards Andreja. Went to the eye and I guess that was my decision made for me... Oh well, Sarah it is.

Ok, for me Sarah dies either way, the Hunter and side kick has already appeared in the lodge as well

I ran into the hunter earlier. He was hanging out in the coffee shop having a brew.

I don't mind spoilers, so I read up on this quest, and I don't know what the problem is. All I'm seeing is a way to get rid of Sarah's preachy bullshit.
And supposedly you can save peeps in NG playthroughs.

Watched someone else play through a bit the other day and it just didn’t seem worth the time. Man. What I wouldn’t give to have that Morrowind feeling back.

Early commenters were right, you do reach a point where it geuinely starts to get interesting, cos I'm there now. I've had a series of quests in a row now where I've wanted to push on to find shit out and I'm now trying to get more artifacts and its lead me onto the best quest I've played so far called Entangling I think. I've gone all doom with an old earth shotgun and jumping about.

Yeah Entangled is brilliant.
…and, holy shit, I just read up on it and realised there’s a way of completing it I hadn’t even considered. Maybe I’ll replay the main quest after all

Now I've see behind the curtain so to speak I'm getting an idea of what NG+ is going to be like. I can kind of understand why the start of the game is so oddly paced.

Maybe I’ll replay the main quest after all I haven't got to the end yet, it was so early in the morning and I needed to go to bed. Actually looking forward to getting back on it later to complete the quest. At the moment in my mind there are the 2 obvious ends based on what the director said but I'm wondering if there are 2 more with the best & worst of both

Was told at work that the Ryujin quest line is worth doing. Just done the background check mission, its utter rubbish and while I have 1 stealth point only but with cloaking jetpack if you don't move. The AI can see you even if not looking at you! ended up blasting my way through
Funny enough, I took this ship from someone I was told to kill as part of the Ryujin quest line, and for some reason the turrets on the ship are shooting Lin despites its my home ship

Noise is not your friend. Take your spacesuit off and you'll have a much easier time of it.

I was a bit disappointed with the Ryujin quest line. Crimson Fleet one was much better.

The questline was boring, thats all of them done. Didn't have the space suit on, just the jet pack to stealth
ended up blasting through for the 2nd final missions as well

I have just realised that tomorrow will be nearly a month since the last time I played Starfield, and I still haven't finished the game. Never gone off something so quickly before. Still quite disappointed.
Will probably revisit when the DLC eventually comes out, but at the moment I have no urge to continue with it.

Well, I guess I created an orphan today. But I got a sweet jacket as a result. Met Daft Punk in the desert, which led to 20 minutes of picture taking, found a good ol' Klashnikov in perfect centuries old nick, and just about to start this Entangled quest. Just entered the facility to a huge "wtf, oh-no...". Didn't think the previous museum trawl would be bettered, but here we go.

It's just a bad game, don't feel guilty about it.

Aaaand main quest done, hard save made, and did the thing. Had the whole metaverse stuff spoiled through YT etc, so wasn't too bothered, but the final boss encounter against both the Daft Punk boys - marvelous. The whole jumping mechanic used in Engangled was put to even better use through that, and made for probably the most epic end I think I've experienced in a long, long time. Couple of quick run throughs to do, and then I'll start playing properly. Still got all the faction questlines untouched, the number of systems and secrets out there do give me hope, and I'm not reading up on anything else from here.

It's just a bad game, don't feel guilty about it. I'm not sure if you can say this with absolute finality like that. It certainly has its problems. But it's not "bad, period". The main reason why people are disappointed, is because the expectations were inflated. If you got this game from a no name studio, people would be impressed (but not without mentioning its problems as well, of course).
But I can totally understand if the problems it has make you not want to play it, I actually feel the same.

My issue isn't to do with raised expectations. It's more that it feels very much stuck in a 2011 time capsule, where everything is incredibly unreactive and lifeless. It's like the opening to Bioshock Infinite but on a grander scale.

Same boat. I'm waiting for that patch, but not sure if that'll be enough now as I didn't especially have performance issues before, just a couple of annoying broken side quests and no HDR. I really didn't think it would take this long for them to do some basic stuff that the modding community managed in less time and the urge to play has faded altogether. Next time I have sufficient free time for a decent amount of gaming (hopefully Christmas hols) I'm not sure I'll be disciplined enough to want to finish Starfield rather than try something new and shiny.
